Chapter 9 Fierce Battle
Chapter 9 Fierce Battle
"Archers! Prepare for three volleys of full-force volleys!"
Count Hylan drew his longsword and pointed it at the charging army of ghouls below.
Solis stood atop the tallest tower in the middle section of the south city wall, gripping his staff tightly with both hands, and a large amount of fire elemental energy gathered around him.
The ruby at the tip of the magic wand twinkled.
As the magical energy accumulated to its limit, a large patch of red-glowing clouds appeared a hundred meters in the sky.
"what!"
With a roar from Solis, the clouds churned and countless fireballs the size of cantaloupes fell from the red clouds.
It crashed down on the charging ghoul.
With Solis's opening move of a level 4 magic Fire Meteor, the battle officially began.
Large numbers of ghouls lay dead in front of the city wall, and the corpses, soaked in corpse oil, fueled the flames, turning the entire south city wall as bright as day.
"careful!
"The dragon is coming"
After completing the spell, Solis threw his staff down and then jumped towards the sack on the city wall.
'Thump~~~~~~'
a bang
The tower where Solis had just stood had been smashed to pieces by the flying dragon, with large chunks of rock and broken wood flying in all directions.
Caught off guard, the soldier was immediately thrown into the air and knocked down by the falling rocks.
Haven rushed over and pulled Solis, who was upside down, out of the sack.
"Teacher, are you okay?"
Solis spat out the weeds in his mouth, waved at Havent, and looked at the dragon with shining eyes.
"Do you see that, child? That's a dragon, with such a powerful physique! It's wonderful, truly wonderful!"
Seeing the teacher's excited expression, Haven was a little speechless and shouted loudly into Solis's ear.
"Then what should we do now?"
"What do you mean?"
Haven pointed to the dragon circling overhead.
Solis stood up, rubbed his sore backside, and turned to take the wand from the soldier.
I poured some magic into it and found that it was still responding, so I breathed a sigh of relief.
"What else can we do? We'll just have to deal with it normally. As long as we hold off the army of ghouls below, the Count of the Dragon Clan will take care of it."
"Can my dad beat him? Aren't you going to help?"
Solis shook his head and peered down the city wall.
"I can't, I can't fly, my battlefield is here."
As they spoke, the dragon circled a few times and then crashed into the soldiers on the city wall.
"Don't even think about it!!!"
Earl Hylan, radiating a fiery fighting spirit, flew towards the demonic dragon like a cannonball.
We were about twenty meters away from the dragon.
Earl Hylan brandished his sword, unleashing several sword strikes at the demonic dragon.
The dragon, enslaved by the undead, didn't display the fighting spirit of a normal dragon; it even lost its balance after taking several sword strikes with its body.
It wobbled and crashed into the arrow tower, which was no match for the dragon's massive body and exploded.
Watching the demonic dragon crash into the city, Earl Hylan descended from mid-air.
"Hadawi, I'll leave this to you. I'll go and hold off that dragon, otherwise our walls won't hold for long."
Count Morley first bumped fists with his best friend, then slammed his right fist into his left chest.
"White Lion Guards, grab your weapons and follow me!"
"Father! Father! Wait a minute!"
Haventra brought his teacher over. "What's wrong, little Haventra?"
"I just discussed it with my teacher, and given the current situation, we have no way to hold out until the defenders arrive."
You just saw those death monks. The teacher said that those death monks needed a magic circle to help them enslave the dragons.
We need to get out of the city and destroy that magic circle. That way, the dragon won't be under our control, and things will be much easier for us.”
"Solis?"
Hearing his son's audacious idea, he was somewhat surprised. In the current situation, leaving the city was tantamount to suicide.
"My lord, I didn't~"
Okay, I did discuss some related information with Little Vent, but I definitely didn't mention leaving the city to cause destruction.
"Son, I want to know why you're willing to take such a huge risk. You need to understand, all we need to do is get through tonight and tomorrow."
Earl Hyland stared intently at his unusually erratic son.
Haven clenched his fist and stubbornly raised his head to look directly at Earl Hyland.
"What if we can't even make it through tonight?"
"How is that possible? We still have three hundred White Lion Legion soldiers and over a thousand armored soldiers, plus two thousand men from other noble lords. How could this be?"
"Father!
What if it actually happens?
You always say that in warfare, we must consider the worst-case scenario and not rely on luck.
The atmosphere on the city wall became tense for a moment. The soldiers around them didn't dare to breathe, not expecting this crucial moment.
The heir to their own territory got into an argument with the lord.
‘Boom! ’
A sound of collapsing buildings came from behind. Watching the downed dragon struggle to crawl out of the ruins, Earl Hylan reached out and patted his son on the shoulder.
"Taren, follow the young master's plan!"
White Lion Guards, follow me!
Watching his father's departing figure, Haven pursed his lips. In his previous life, as a left-behind child, he had never seen his parents.
Rebirth or time travel meant nothing to him, but being his son now seemed like a pretty good thing.
Once he wins this time, he'll go to study in the capital and bring his mother back with him. What a typical straight man, he doesn't know how to coax his wife at all.
"Taren"
"Young Master Haven, what are your orders?"
“I need thirty White Lion Knights and me to leave the city; we’ll go out from the east.”
According to the teacher's estimation, the magic circle controlling the dragon isn't too far away. "Bring incendiary explosives, we'll blow up the magic circle and then come back."
"Yes, young master, I'll go prepare right away."
Taren gave his young master a knightly salute and then hurriedly left to prepare his things.
After making the arrangements, Haven turned and walked toward Earl Morrie.
"Lord Mori, please forgive me for my previous offense in the conference room. I'll leave the work at the city walls to you."
Count Maurice patted Haven on the shoulder.
"Little Went, it's alright, don't worry about it."
Go do what you want to do, child. After this battle is over, I'll have Wise talk to you more; I'm sure you two can become good friends.
Haven gave a noble bow to Earl Morley and his teacher, then turned and walked down the city wall.
East Gate of Whiterun
Dark clouds shrouded the moonlight as a group of thirty riders quietly rode away, the deafening shouts of battle echoing from the southern city wall in the distance.
"Come on, follow me."
Onward to victory!
