Chapter 33 Ready to go
Chapter 33 Ready to go
The moonlight shone on the boy, and Haven's aura grew stronger and stronger. Terrified, Coco's legs went weak, and he collapsed to the ground uncontrollably.
"Please, please, don't kill me! I have children to raise!"
Faced with Coco's pleas for mercy, Haven coldly raised his longsword.
"No, you don't know you're wrong, you just know you're going to die."
As Havent finished speaking, two sword beams flashed, and blood gushed out from the broken ends.
Looking at the five people lying on the ground, Haven wiped the blade of his sword on Coco's corpse, then sheathed the sword at his waist and left without looking back.
After a while, the patrolling guards came over. Seeing the people lying haphazardly in the alley, they assumed they were just drunkards and prepared to wake them up, lest they freeze to death.
However, as they got closer, the stench of blood in the air made the guard realize something was wrong. When he approached and shone a torch on the ground, the guard thought he had stumbled upon a cult's ceremony.
'Shh~sh~sh~'
As several loud whistles sounded, Haven, who was already in bed, wiggled comfortably a couple of times and gradually drifted off to sleep.
Haven had a wonderful dream after a very peaceful night's sleep. After wriggling in bed for a while, he finally got up and glanced at the simple clock on the wall.
"Holy crap, it's already midnight!"
Haven pulled the rope by the bed after getting dressed, and a moment later there was a knock on the door.
"Come in, the door's open."
With a creak, the door opened.
Blue walked in absentmindedly. This morning, Linda's eyes were swollen from crying for some reason, and he couldn't comfort her no matter what he did.
Seeing Haven looking at him, Blue showed great respect for this magnanimous guest and bowed respectfully as he asked.
"Hello, sir/madam, how can I help you?"
"Are my clothes dry? I'm leaving, Blue."
Upon hearing that this generous guest was leaving, Bru's expression showed a hint of regret, but he quickly composed himself.
"Alright, sir, I'll go get it for you right away,"
Soon, Blue returned carrying Haven's clothes, neatly folded them, and placed them on the table, saying respectfully...
Is there anything else you need?
Haven patted his empty stomach, pulled out a silver Gloucester, and tossed it to Blue, saying...
"Bring me some food up. The stew I had yesterday was pretty good. Blue, you seem to be in a bad mood."
Blue, who was already in a bad mood, was so touched by the generous guest's concern that he immediately poured out all his troubles.
After listening to Bro's grievances, Haven looked puzzled. So, what happened last night was his fault for showing off his wealth? But this young man was truly pitiful. He said to Bro with sympathy.
"Yeah, women can be a bit strange, but I think it'll probably get better in a few days. After all, you're a decent, honest guy."
Hearing Haven's evaluation of him, Blue was very grateful. He bowed and went downstairs to get Haven some food.
After taking a quick bite, Haven took his things and left the Giant Sleeping Hotel to meet up with the Gale Mercenary Group.
"Will, Will, why are you so late? Do you know that there was a bloody battle in town last night?"
Paimon saw Havel walk in, put down the chicken leg he was holding, and went to greet him.
"What bloody battle?" Haven asked, feigning ignorance.
Paimon pulled Haven to sit down at the table and began to speak to her excitedly.
"You wouldn't believe it, the whole town is buzzing about it today. Five dismembered bodies were found in an alley on Red Fruit Street, and the town guards searched all night. They finally confirmed the identities of these people at dawn." Haven listened to Paimon's explanation with great interest. He hadn't left any evidence after simulating the dismemberment last night, so he wanted to hear what others had to say.
"These guys are local residents of Riverwood, and they're a small mercenary group, but they don't have a good reputation. They often do things like bullying and monopolizing the market."
So the local residents didn't feel anything about the deaths of these people, and the bar owner even felt that it was retribution for their many evil deeds.
But putting everything else aside, I went to check it out this morning, and that person is definitely a master, or maybe there were two of them, anyway, they're incredibly powerful. According to the guards, those people didn't put up any decent resistance, and there were even two low-level warriors in that group."
Just then, Wells and Bucky returned from outside and found empty seats. They chuckled as they listened to the younger members of the team discussing the battle from the early morning. Young people always seem to enjoy stories of heroism and chivalry.
Looking at Havent, who was listening to Paimon's boast with a smile, old Wells vaguely felt that the attack method that had been circulating was very familiar.
"Boss! Boss!"
Wells snapped out of his daze when he heard Bucky calling him.
"What's wrong, Bucky?"
Coming to his senses, he turned to look at his deputy.
"We received a message from the Chamber of Commerce asking if we can set off tomorrow? Their goods are already prepared."
"Aww~ Have we prepared everything?"
Bucky flipped through the notebook and said
"Oklo and his team have already communicated with the horse farm owner, paid the money, and can take the horses away at any time."
After listening to Bucky's report, Wells nodded, stood up, and walked to the table.
"Guys, pack your things. We'll have a good meal tonight. We're leaving tomorrow."
In the evening, Haven, having eaten his fill, was supposed to go out and broaden his horizons with Paimon and the other young men in the team, but old Wells stopped him, saying they had to leave early the next morning.
With nothing else to do, the group started wrestling in the open space. After playing for several hours, Wells shooed them away to rest. Paimon, lying in bed, still had no intention of going to sleep.
"Will, where are you from? I wish you wouldn't leave!"
Haven paused for a moment when he heard Paimon's question.
"Huh? I didn't say I was leaving! I just joined!"
"Really? But my uncle said, no, the commander said, Wells is my uncle. Never mind, I'll just say uncle."
Paimon leaned against the blankets, staring at the ceiling, and continued...
"My uncle said you're not one of us; you're only joining us temporarily, and you might leave once you reach your destination. So, how about we remain friends then?"
Looking at the boy in the next bed, Haven smiled. He still liked this straightforward young man, even though they hadn't known each other for very long.
"Of course, Paimon, we'll always be best friends."
The boy let out a long breath, then turned to Havent, revealing his neat teeth.
"That's good. We'll always be good friends."
