The soldier spent all the gold coins he had earned and moved from the hotel's luxury room to the attic.

The stairs leading up to the attic were so high that his former friends stopped coming to visit him.

The soldier who had no money wasn't too upset; it was just that the attic was so dark that he couldn't see clearly.

He was so poor that he didn't even have a tinderbox.

In the darkness, the soldier's expression changed slightly; he couldn't help but think of the princess.

So he stood up, groped his way down from the attic in the dark, and headed toward the palace.

"The princess must like me too. I'll go to her secretly. Maybe I can win her favor and become the new king."

"That way, I'll have money again," the soldier thought.

He then put his plan into action, quietly scaling the palace walls and entering the castle.
