Chapter 209 Revenge
"What do you mean?"

Perkins asked nervously.

He wasn't familiar with Severus from his time with the Death Eaters.

Or rather, among those Death Eaters, apart from a few individuals like Lucius, only Voldemort himself was close to Severus.

To others, Severus was always a loner, rarely participating in Death Eater group activities and only accepting Voldemort's individual orders.

At this moment, Barty had already taken the hair from the heads of the two Aurors on the ground, and then took out two bottles of transparent potions from his pocket.

After placing the hairs into separate medicine bottles, Barty handed one of the bottles to Perkins.

"It means very simply that he wants to find his master, but not necessarily to help his master; he wants to help Dumbledore!"

Perkins' face clearly showed disbelief at this conclusion.

As a seasoned Death Eater, he knew better than anyone the psychology of his colleagues towards their master.

It should be said that all Death Eaters are the same.

As long as Voldemort is confirmed to still be alive, no one will dare to betray or rebel!

The current fragmentation is simply because everyone believes that Voldemort has died as the legendary prophecy foretold.

Regardless of Perkins' thoughts, Barty drank the compound decoction in his hand in one gulp, and his body quickly began to change.

His height began to shrink, his skin color began to change, and his facial features were reshaped through distortion, eventually becoming exactly the same as the Auror lying on the ground.

Then, he simply stripped the Auror's clothes off the ground and put them on himself.

Perkins followed Barty's lead, drinking the compound decoction and changing his clothes.

After making all the preparations, the two began to return to the location of the underground ruins, following the route they had seen in the Auror's memories.

At this time, the Albanian Auror had tightened its original blockade, and soon Little Barty and his group arrived at the entrance of the tunnel.

Two Albanian Aurors were also guarding the place, but they were just smoking and chatting under the withered fir tree. After seeing that the visitor was their colleague, they stopped paying attention to him.

Perkins' muscles were tense, and he seemed a little nervous. He just followed behind Barty with his head down, and then walked into the tunnel as if no one else was there, and began to descend.

Just as they arrived at the underground plaza, they saw an old man carrying a suitcase walking towards them.

The old man's expression was somewhat strange when he saw them.

"Are you changing shifts so early today?"

Barty and the others remembered the old man from the memories of the two Aurors; they knew he had come from France to help the Albanian Ministry of Magic.

"Good evening, Mr. Williams. Have you finished your research for today?"

The old man didn't seem to doubt it at all, and he greeted him with a smile.

"Two days will be enough. I have finished translating the alchemical symbols on that mural, and I will give the same result to your supervisor when I go up."

“Thank you very much for your help to the Albanian Ministry of Magic, sir.”

Little Barty smiled, looking just like a real Auror, and expressed his gratitude to the old man.

Perkins remained silent throughout, unlike Barty Jr. who was calm and collected, afraid that speaking would give him away.

"this is necessary."

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the two parted ways again. Watching the old man begin to ascend the stairs, they turned back together and walked deeper into the square.

"Should we take what he's researched?" Perkins whispered.

"No rush," Little Barty said softly. "Let's go in and see what's going on inside."

"You deliberately added the truth serum to that bottle of medicine!"

After the truth came out, before dawn, Harry and Draco, whose hearing had finally returned to normal, went back to their rooms to catch up on sleep.

Draco was deeply troubled by this. He suspected that Harry had secretly sabotaged him, causing him to become temporarily deaf and unable to hear anything. He had no idea what the black dog's identity was or what had happened in between.

Even when he kept pressing them for details afterward, both Severus and Lupin gave vague answers and refused to say more.

Lupin also didn't let Black stay with Severus any longer. He could see that Black Dog still had a deep prejudice against Severus. The grudges accumulated during their school days couldn't be resolved in just a few words.

After everything was settled, Lupin took Blake to his room, ready to have a proper chat with him about what happened back then.

After everyone had left Severus's bedroom, Ghost Snape couldn't help but ask.

Others might not see anything wrong with the truth serum, but Snape, the ghost who was always following Severus, saw it all clearly!
There was only one drop of truth serum inside; the rest was all real medicine that Severus had brewed just two days ago.

The potion that could stabilize magic power was something that Ghost Snape and Severus had discussed extensively. For ordinary shapeshifters, the potion only helped them resist breaking the spell, but for a wizard's own shapeshifting, especially an Animagus, it was a completely different story.

What distinguishes Animagus from others is that it is an independent form of transfiguration. This magic can alter the wizard's own magical power, transforming the wizard completely into another animal, rather than the false and temporary maintenance of ordinary transfiguration.

This transformation, caused by the change in magic itself, can be maintained indefinitely if a real potion is added, provided the transformed wizard does not suffer any further mishaps, because the wizard's own magic is inexhaustible.

"What nonsense! The idea that he accidentally bumped into the potion on the table and that it worked on him is a lie! That kind of potion only works if you drink it!"

Severus had nothing to hide from Snape the Ghost, especially since he couldn't hide it from the Ghost who shared his senses and vision.

"Of course I did it on purpose; I wanted to make sure he could never turn back into a human."

"You," the ghost Severus had barely uttered a word before falling silent again.

He instinctively wanted to ask Severus why he did this, but before he could even ask, he already had the answer in his heart. Or rather, Severus had already given him the answer long ago.

Seeing his reaction, Severus was very pleased.

“I’m glad you didn’t ask me why I did this, because I finally don’t have to repeat to myself that we are one.”

As he spoke, Severus waved his wand at the scattered items in the room, tidying them all up.

“As soon as I learned that Blake had escaped from prison, I told you that he was actually innocent. I said that just because he almost killed you, I couldn’t possibly put aside my past grievances and go out of my way to help him clear his name.”

"But he is Harry's godfather and Lupin's friend, isn't he? And he really didn't do anything to betray his friend, so it's not necessary to kill him, but giving him a little revenge is acceptable."

Ghost Snape simply stared at Severus with a brooding gaze.

"You mean this 'small revenge' is making him a dog for the rest of his life?"

Severus simply shrugged at this.

"That's slander. That potion isn't an unforgivable curse. We've discussed how to make it, and there's a possibility that we can create an antidote. Once he's confirmed to be a good dog, we'll create an antidote to help him turn back into a human."

"That could take a very long time."

Severus simply clicked his tongue twice in response.

"You actually care that he's here? I never knew you'd become so magnanimous. I bet the problem isn't with him."

Ghost Snape simply said in a cold voice.

"Even if I were to care about the corpses in the cemetery, I wouldn't care about an ill-mannered dog! I was thinking, what if Harry later finds out that you were the one secretly tampering with things?"

"You really don't need to worry about that at all," Severus said casually. "After what happened today, do you think Harry will go to Lupin and the others to find out why you and the other four were so at odds back at Hogwarts?"

Ghost Snape remained silent, offering no reply. He had clearly anticipated that Harry would seek out Lupin Black to inquire about the past.

"With Lupin around, Harry will understand the matter in the most truthful and accurate way. You weren't exactly a good person during your school days, but at least you were self-destructive, dabbling in bad magic and joining some bad circles. You never actively provoked those four people; it was always those four who deliberately offended and bullied you."

Severus chuckled as he said this.

“Even Harry, who used to despise you, thinks his father and the other three went too far after seeing what happened in the past, let alone now that he’s my student. After learning about those things, he will definitely stand on our side, not Black and the others.”

"In that case, even if he finds out later that I secretly did this to Black, so what? My revenge is almost like a prank. Harry will only praise my magnanimity and will never think I'm doing anything despicable."

At the end, Ghost Snape simply said in a cold, hard voice.

"I hope everything goes as you said."

Severus was already in bed, ready to get some rest that night, he said finally, offering words of comfort.

"After everything we've been through, do you still not have faith in me? Instead of thinking about that, you should think more about what we'll do if we actually find your former master."

Just as Severus fell asleep.

Just as he had expected, Harry tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.

His mind was filled with the conversation he had overheard in Severus's bedroom. Although he had learned a lot, he also had many questions.

Today, he learned for the first time that the conflict between his father and Severus was not just between the two individuals, but between a group of four against one person.

Harry was very curious about what had happened between them when they were at Hogwarts, and what role his mother played in that relationship.

After lying in bed for more than half an hour unable to fall asleep, Harry finally sat up again.

He knew that Lupin and Black couldn't possibly be asleep so early, so he wanted to go find them now and ask them about the truth of what had happened.

When he got out of bed for the second time, the fluffy cat was still fast asleep. It seemed to be in poor spirits lately, sleeping most of the day, almost without fail.

After leaving the room, Harry tiptoed to Lupin's door and gently knocked.

If Draco were to discover that he had come out to find Lupin Black at this moment, he would definitely stay here and refuse to leave, and then Harry would have no chance to ask anything.

He didn't have to wait long; two or three seconds after the knocking, Lupin opened the door from the inside.

He seemed somewhat surprised to see Harry.

"It's so late, aren't you asleep yet?"

“I can’t sleep, Remus!” Harry pleaded with him. “You and my godfather were my dad’s best friends, weren’t you? You both had conflicts with my teacher, didn’t you? I want to know what happened between you! I can’t sleep tonight if I don’t find out the truth!”

Just as Lupin was hesitating after hearing Harry's words, Black, who had also heard Harry's words behind Lupin, became impatient.

"Let him in! Remus! He's James' son! He has the right to know! We'll show him what kind of snotty brat he used to be!"

Harry couldn't help but frown when he heard Black's voice coming from the radio.

He absolutely hated the nickname Blake used to call Severus "Snotty!"

Upon hearing Black's words, Lupin could only shake his head helplessly, then fully opened the door and let Harry in.

When Harry arrived at Lupin's room, he could tell that they had been talking for a long time. There were two cups of tea on a small table nearby, indicating that even if Harry hadn't come, they would have talked all night.

"As your godfather, I am very pleased that you are willing to learn about that past, Harry!"

Blake's voice came from the No. 3 broadcast and was very loud. He had originally disliked the thing that Nico had put around his neck, but now he had to be thankful that it allowed him to speak in his Animagus form!
