Chapter 206 Blake, Unable to Explain Himself

Chapter 206 Blake, Unable to Defend Himself
Severus stared into Blake's eyes, and he had clearly guessed what the black dog was thinking.

But he wasn't nervous, nor did he make any other unnecessary movements. He simply used his wand to cast a [Hearing Block] spell on Draco, causing an unrecognizable buzzing sound in his ears, making him unable to hear the surrounding sounds.

As it turned out, Severus's move was correct, because the next second, Black shouted Harry's name.

"Harry Potter!"

The voice, as mournful as a cuckoo's cry, rang out from broadcast number three, leaving Harry completely bewildered.

Harry clearly didn't understand why the black dog would suddenly call out his name, nor did he know who it was.

“Snape is a scoundrel! He definitely lied to you! He must have taken advantage of his past relationship with your mother to keep you by his side!!”

Blake didn't care about anything else at this point. He knew he was now a lamb to the slaughter, and all he could do was tell everything he could before Severus finally arrested him!
Even as he uttered those words, Blake had already anticipated how furious Severus would be upon hearing them, and how he would regret not having silenced him in time.

He didn't expect Harry to believe him immediately. He just wanted to plant a seed of doubt in Harry's heart, so that one day Harry would see through the lie on his own.

But reality slapped Blake hard across the face.

His shouts not only failed to change Severus's expression, but also left Harry looking at him speechlessly.

Even after he told Harry the truth, Severus showed no intention of immediately attacking him or stopping him from continuing. Instead, he crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe, watching Black's performance as if he were watching a play.

In the end, Lupin sighed, calmly looking at Blake's current extremely disheveled and miserable state, and spoke.

"If you're referring to the past antagonism between Severus and James, he already told him all of that when he first brought Harry out."

Blake looked on in disbelief.

But soon he glared angrily at Lupin.

“Listen to this! What did you call him? Severus? How intimate! Remus, no, I shouldn’t call you that anymore, Remus Lupin! Have you forgotten everything? Who was this snotty-nosed accomplice in the deaths of James and Lily?!”

At this point, Black suddenly turned to look at Harry.

"Yes! That's right! If Snape told you he was once an enemy of your father, then he certainly didn't tell you who he used to work for! The person who killed your parents was his master! He was his most loyal subordinate! Now he's brought you into his life with ill intentions! Think about Harry! Think about it! You're James' son, you can figure out exactly what deceptions you've been subjected to!"

Blake hadn't spoken so many heartfelt and sincere words to anyone in many years.

He firmly believed that James' son was not the kind of person to recognize a thief as his father. As long as he told the truth and let Harry see what kind of person Severus really was, Harry would definitely wake up and make a choice.

However, Harry was a little angry at Black's sincere gaze.

Yes, he did look very angry.

"I don't know who you are, nor do I know your relationship with my parents, but do you think the teacher didn't tell me any of this in the first place?"

Upon hearing Harry's answer, Black's eyes became even more powerless and fearful.

His bloodshot eyes were fixed on Harry, and Radio Number Three broadcast his message once again.

"You, you all know."

"You know everything!!" His voice suddenly grew louder.

"You know this disgusting snotty-nosed guy is the enemy who indirectly killed your parents! You know he was your father's mortal foe, yet you willingly call him 'teacher' and serve as a slave to this Malfoy brat under his tutelage!!!"

Draco looked bewildered.

He had no idea what was happening. He seemed to have lost his hearing, but he could also hear sounds. All he could see was Lupin and Harry beside him opening and closing their mouths, saying something he couldn't understand at all.

This really worried Draco. He grabbed Severus's clothes and kept yelling that he was deaf. It was only after Severus, who had been watching the whole thing, patted him on the shoulder and gestured that something might be blocking his ears and told him to try picking at them that Draco calmed down and started foolishly picking at his ears.

It's not surprising that Blake would make this guess.

Since things weren't going as he expected, Severus had told Harry everything from the beginning, and now Harry didn't seem to be under the influence of the Imperius Curse at all.

In Blake's view, there was only one answer left.

Jaime's son has become a despicable man who betrays his lord! A lackey of the dark wizard! A traitor who subservient to purebloodism!
Just like Lupin, who keeps shouting "Severus" now!
This reality made Blake even more desperate.

If Harry was merely deceived, then there is still hope—hope that Harry will see through Severus's deception and truly recognize the true nature of this snotty-nosed man.

But now Harry wasn't fooled. He knew everything and understood everything, yet he still chose to stay with Severus. Black, on the other hand, had absolutely no hope left.

His words not only angered Harry, but enraged him.

"I don't know who you are, but you're too arrogant! You think the teacher didn't tell me anything at first, but actually he told me everything! And in front of me, he made me decide whether to go with him or not!"

"Do you think I'm the kind of person who forgets my parents' death and only thinks about surviving by following behind my enemy? My teacher promised that he would teach me everything he knew! As long as I'm truly capable of holding a wand and pointing it at him, I can challenge him to a duel anytime!!"

"I've never forgotten what you said, and the teacher has never lied to me. You think everyone is so bad! So vicious! And you! Tell me your name! Let me hear what kind of gentleman you really are!"

Harry has never been bad at talking, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get Draco so angry that he was about to hit him from the very beginning.

The series of words he uttered at that moment caused Blake to unconsciously take two steps back.

When his godson, James and Lily's son, said this to him, Black almost blurted out that he was his godfather and the most qualified wizard to teach Harry.

But as soon as he was about to speak, Black realized what he meant. Sirius Black.

This name could never be associated with Harry's elders or guardians in anyone's eyes!

He is a notorious traitor! A Death Eater! Voldemort's henchman! An escaped prisoner of Azkaban!

What would Harry think if he said his name now?
But even as Blake paused at this moment, he dared not speak, and instead cowered and hid like a stray dog, Lupin stared at him and said something.

“He’s afraid to tell you who he is, so let me tell you, Harry.”

"No!" A mournful tenor voice rang out from broadcast number three, but that did not stop Lupin from continuing.

"The black dog in front of you is the one who was once your father and my closest friend, who became your godfather after you were born, the eldest son of the Black family, who was once regarded as a traitor by all the pure-blood families, a core member of the Order of the Phoenix, and the keeper of the secret of the Potter family's hideout!"

"But then, in a way no one could have imagined, he turned out to be the mysterious man's loyal henchman. He deceived everyone—his family, his blood relatives, his friends, his mentors! Everyone was completely fooled by him, and in the end, they told everything they knew to their master, the murderer who directly killed your parents—Sirius Black!"

After Lupin said those words, the whole room fell silent.

Blake couldn't say a word; his body was trembling, and his black fur looked dull and lifeless, as if shrouded in a layer of haze.

Harry stared in shock at the pathetic black dog before him. He never imagined that this animal, which had just stood on his parents' side and questioned him about his slander of Severus, was actually Sirius Black, the one who had escaped from Azkaban and was being featured in countless magical dailys!

Lupin's expression remained calm, but his eyes revealed undisguised disappointment.

"Sirius, I don't understand. From what standpoint are you questioning Severus, Harry, James's friend, and Harry's godfather? If you really care about such identities, then why did you choose to betray them and reveal the Potter family's position to your master in the first place?"

"If you really cared so much about friendship, then why did you relentlessly hunt down Pettigrew after James and Lily were killed, ultimately blowing him to smithereens with a spell?"

“I can’t understand your behavior. I’m more inclined to believe that your questioning just now was just an excuse for your failed attempt to murder Harry and Severus tonight.”

Lupin's words made Blake's ears and head droop completely.

His eyes were now empty and gloomy. He had been thinking that he had to find Harry and make him see Severus's true colors.

But he subconsciously ignored his current identity.

Given his current infamy and the fact that he is despised by everyone, what right or status does he have to criticize these things?

As for telling the truth and telling Lupin and Harry that he was innocent.

Blake isn't that stupid.

It's impossible for everyone in this world to be like Nicolas Flamel. No normal person would believe the things he said without any evidence, let alone someone like Lupin who personally experienced those events back then.
"The newspapers say he escaped from prison to kill me and the teacher!" Harry realized at this point, staring at Black with a serious expression. "So all those things he said just now were, after being caught by the teacher, to sow discord between me and the teacher, so he could buy himself a chance to escape?"

Harry and Lupin had clearly already come to the most reasonable guess.

Blake, huddled in the corner, seemed to have lost his soul; he was completely silent. He appeared to have no intention of defending himself or any ability to resist, and could only cower there, at the mercy of others.

"Should we hand him over to the Aurors?" Lupin turned to Severus, who hadn't said a word since the beginning, letting Black throw mud at him while only listening to Harry speak up for him.

This situation is exactly what Severus wanted to see.

Even the stubborn Snape, the Ghost, had no voices of doubt at this moment.

This is why Severus chose to confront Harry completely from the beginning, making no attempt to hide his involvement in the murder that killed Harry's parents.

This kind of thing can't be kept secret forever, especially when many people know that he used to be Voldemort's loyal servant.

Even if these people don't know that he was the one who betrayed the prophecy, his identity as a Death Eater alone is enough to make him one of the accomplices in the murder of James and Lily.

And now, the benefits of Severus showing Harry sincerity from the very beginning are becoming apparent.

Aside from the specific details, he had already frankly told Harry about his relationship with Lily, his relationship with James, and his involvement in the deaths of the Potters.

Now, no matter what Black says, he can't change Severus's position in Harry's heart. On the contrary, it will make Harry resent his godfather whom he has never met.

Blake has now become the ultimate loser, but in reality, Severus did nothing; he simply told the truth from beginning to end.

Blake's current predicament is entirely his own fault.

Even the misunderstandings Harry and Lupin had about him were all his own doing. If he had just done the right thing, none of this should have happened.

Looking at Blake, who had completely lost his spirit, Severus simply shook his head slowly in response to Lupin's question.

"We cannot give him to the Auror just yet."

This left Lupin and Harry somewhat puzzled.

"why?"

“Something’s not right about his motives,” Severus said calmly. “If he really escaped from prison to kill Harry, he had many opportunities just now, but he didn’t.”

"We need to figure out exactly what he wants to do."
