Chapter 180 Migration Plan
Chapter 180 Migration Plan
The giants in the valley were finally free from the toil of working for that damned log.
These ignorant creatures have no idea what it means that the houses are no longer being built; they are simply overjoyed at the moment for their relaxation and leisure.
Other giants didn't understand, but Lulu did.
It might not be smart enough to understand what it meant to expand the nature reserve for fire dragons, nor could it understand why it needed to expand. But after following Andrews around for so many years, it knew very well what kind of problem the troll group would face if a group of fire dragons and trolls were placed in a natural habitat to live.
"No. I can't watch Jackman and the others die here innocently."
As Severus and his companions approached Andrews and Lulu, they heard Lulu's gruff yet clumsy and helpless voice.
"They...they didn't hurt anyone. They're innocent."
Andrews could only rack his brains trying to think of a solution, and he tried to say something.
"Perhaps you could teach them not to provoke those fire dragons? As long as the dragons are not disturbed, there will be no conflict among them."
Lulu shook her little head.
"No, no. Jackman and the others are idiots, you know. Pick and the others are idiots. They have no brains. They think the dragon has invaded their territory."
Andrews was now completely bewildered.
He didn't know what to do.
Persuade the Fire Dragon Nature Reserve not to expand into this valley.
This was a joint decree issued by the Departments of Magical Creatures Protection of the Albanian and Greek Ministries of Magic. How could the plan be changed and a new area redrawn based on just a few words from him, especially for the purpose of protecting a group of worthless trolls?
Are they just going to abandon these giants and leave?
Even setting aside the feelings Andrews developed with these trolls over the past three years, he still couldn't get over the issue of his friendship with Lulu!
This behavior constitutes abandonment, the worst kind of abandonment.
Lulu was able to see Andrews's predicament; its intelligence was absolutely rare in the history of the troll race.
“Pique, you don’t need to feel bad. I know you can’t do anything about it. It’s not your fault, but even if they’re stupid, they’re still my people. If I weren’t here, I probably wouldn’t have done anything either. But now that I’m here, I’ll stay with them and spend these last moments together.”
It crouched down, trying to make itself smaller, and looked Andrews in the eye.
"I...I will protect myself. I...I just want to do something, at least for my stupid kin."
Upon hearing its words, Andrews' previous inner turmoil and confusion seemed to be completely resolved.
He and Lulu made eye contact and laughed.
“My friend, I’m glad you didn’t tell me to go first in this situation! You understand, that wouldn’t be a blessing, it would be an insult.”
Lulu giggled and scratched its bald head with its big finger.
"Pique needs my help, and I need Pique too. We're friends!"
Andrews patted its granite-like arms and said with a smile.
"Yes! We are friends! The only wizard and troll duo in the magical world to travel together!"
“I will stay with you. Like you said, maybe we can’t stop anything in the end, but we can’t just stand by and watch, right?”
Harry, who witnessed this scene, looked on with envy.
“They have such a good relationship.”
Draco, however, was muttering to himself.
"He's incredibly stupid."
Then he turned to look at Severus.
"We wouldn't do something so stupid, would we? We'll leave here, right? Anyway, you already know what you want to know from him."
Severus looked down and met Draco's gaze, then smiled and said...
"Don't worry, we won't stay here."
This finally put Draco at ease.
Taking on the risk of caring for a Muggle is already the limit of what he can do right now. If Severus really wants him to stay and help these giants fight off the fire dragon, Draco will feel that the Malfoy family will completely lose face in front of him!
However, Severus's next words stunned Draco.
"Because they won't stay here either."
Before Draco could react, Severus had already walked up to Andrews and asked.
"Why didn't you consider relocating the giants living here to other parts of the forest within these three days?"
Upon hearing Severus's words, Andrews turned around, and the expert in the field of trolls immediately shook his head in rejection of the plan.
“They’ve gotten used to living here. It’s impossible to get them to move away on their own. And if we force them to leave, they’ll definitely come back after we’re gone, and they’ll still provoke those fire dragons.”
“There are only about thirty of these giants. By using the Oblivion Charm, we can forcibly remove them from here and make them completely forget about returning,” Severus offered his solution.
Andrews shook his head again.
“Trolls have a different mindset than humans. Ordinary forgetting spells would only turn them into complete idiots with no memory, unless it is an expert who is proficient in forgetting spells! But there are very few wizards in the entire magical world who can master forgetting spells to this extent, and we simply cannot find them.”
"We don't need to go looking for him; that expert in the Oblivion Charm will come to us himself!"
Severus suddenly spoke with absolute certainty.
Andrews didn't know where Severus got his confidence from, but after spending the last few days with him, he could tell that this famous British wizard was not someone who would boast.
This confirmation excited Andrews, because if this issue was resolved, the migration plan would indeed be feasible!
"Their final destination during migration! We can't drive them too far, but we must leave the newly expanded Fire Dragon Nature Reserve!"
"What kind of environment is suitable for trolls to live in?" "Like this, with clean water and a wide open space. They are forest trolls, and the forest is their home."
"The river fork you took me to the other day was quite nice. It's far from the Fire Dragon Nature Reserve, and there's a large open space nearby, so the water source is definitely reliable."
Upon hearing Severus's words, Andrews clearly also thought of the various advantages of that place.
"Moreover, the biodiversity there is much richer than in the valley! Even if Lulu and I leave later, they won't raise yellow-horned goats anymore, and they can find their own way to hunt and survive!"
His voice grew louder and louder, because from Severus's words he increasingly felt that it was entirely feasible.
Andrews began pacing excitedly, and as an expert in the field, he was certainly able to refine the migration plan to a more specific degree.
"These lazy idiots definitely won't want to leave. We need to work with Lulu to force them out of here!"
“We can’t continue building houses, and we’re going to demolish all the ones they’re currently living in! We’re also going to fence off the lake they usually drink from, pollute the water, and make it unsuitable for them to drink! The yellow-horned goats also need to be driven to their migration destination ahead of schedule. These idiots are almost forgetting how to hunt for food using their own skills. If they can’t get out, they’ll just have to starve here!”
Severus reminded him from the side.
"We only have three days. It's not about leaving this valley within three days, but about going more than ten kilometers east to completely leave the expanded Fire Dragon Reserve."
“Time is indeed a bit tight.” Andrews frowned, but his enthusiasm hadn’t waned at all. “From now on, we must seize every minute and second! We also need to make some preparations in advance for the new troll tribe. All the wood we’ve gathered these past few days can’t be wasted; we have to take it all with us!”
"The matter of the goats and the water needs to be dealt with this afternoon. Tomorrow we need to find a way to drive them away and keep them from running around in the forest."
He kept talking, and finally, his gaze was fixed on Severus.
"But the most important thing is, are you sure a master of the Oblivion Charm will come looking for us?"
Severus nodded affirmatively once again.
“You can write a letter to your cousin right now. You don’t need to say anything, just tell him the landmark of the new troll tribe. Trust me, in a few days, a master of the Oblivion Charm will come to you.”
"Why are you so sure he'll help?" Andrews asked, puzzled.
Severus simply smiled.
"Because I was certain he would help."
He kept the reason a secret, but Andrews now had complete confidence in Severus! He grasped Severus's hand and said sincerely.
"I don't know why the person you mentioned would help me, but I'm truly grateful for your help! This isn't something you should be doing!"
“Don’t say that, Mr. Andrews,” Harry said loudly. “It’s a very interesting thing, we all think so!”
Lupin smiled and said that as well.
“I bet if we succeed, this will definitely be something we can brag about to other people in the pub later.”
Draco, however, pursed his lips listlessly and whispered.
"Why would I brag to those drunkards about how stupid I am?"
The migration plan was quickly finalized.
Without pausing, they began intensive preparations.
Lupin was sent to the end of the migration route to clear the area and then carry out the work of transferring the Yellow Horned Goats.
While the giants were taking a nap, Severus and Andrews dismantled all their wooden huts and separated the lake water they usually drank from the rest of the lake, muddying the water.
Lulu naturally continued to act as a preacher, responsible for using the trolls' language to tell the trolls what dangers they would encounter later and to warn them that they must leave and migrate.
Even if the giants don't want to leave, you have to explain to them why they should leave from here.
Harry and Draco were left to their own devices; the only help they could offer was to use the flying skateboards to determine the fastest route from the sky to their destination in the valley.
They don't need to rush, because they can't actually get the trolls moving until tomorrow afternoon.
The trolls' migration wouldn't end in a day or two. After leaving the valley, getting these guys together and heading in the intended direction wouldn't be easy. Just getting them out of the area the fire dragon had expanded into would take Andrews at least a day and a half.
In between, they also need to find a place to spend the night briefly.
After these days of practice, Harry's flying skateboard skills have improved dramatically. He can now glide skillfully in the air up to 20 meters high, but beyond that height, the skateboard becomes somewhat uncontrollable.
This is partly due to his lack of skill, and partly due to the limitations of the fairy's skateboard itself. Unlike a flying broomstick, it is not a means of transportation that can far surpass conventional modes of transport. Its main advantage lies in its agility.
Communication between Lulu and the trolls was going quite poorly, just as they had initially anticipated.
Even though Lulu had established considerable prestige within the troll group and they regarded her as their leader, when it came to this choice regarding survival, the trolls still clung to their lazy and foolish instincts and simply refused to leave.
But what Severus and Andrews were trying to do was force them to leave, even if they didn't want to!
Soon, the giants discovered that their food source was gone.
The Yellow Horned Goats were led out of the valley by Andrews and temporarily hidden in a secluded cave. The giants had no dinner and were left hungry.
As they grumbled in the giant's language, trying to find some water to drink by the lake, they discovered that the water where their tribe was located was so dirty that it was undrinkable!
One or two of the more intelligent giants knew to go further afield to drink water that hadn't been contaminated by Severus, but the vast majority of them would just stupidly take a sip of the dirty water and then vomit it back up.
But just as they were getting hungry and thirsty, they thought they might as well just hide inside and sleep, and maybe the food would come back tomorrow and the water would be clean again.
They then discovered that their wooden huts were all gone!
It hasn't rained these past two days, but Andrews and Severus can artificially bring rain to them.
While large-scale weather magic is not feasible, it's quite easy to use the nearby lake and summoning spells to continuously create small-scale rainfall.
And so, these giants, who had previously lived a life of plenty, suffered torment for an entire night.
They finally couldn't take it anymore.
