Chapter 144 Austria's Tower Prison
Chapter 144 Austria's Tower Prison
"No, don't be sad, I'm already boiling water for you!"
Draco rummaged through the suitcase Lupin was carrying and quickly found a standard alcohol lamp that was usually used to brew potions.
He hurriedly filled a small pot with water, glancing at Mary, who was slumped in the sofa chair.
The Muggle looked extremely uncomfortable; her forehead was covered in sweat, and she was involuntarily groaning in pain. Her face was so pale that she didn't look like a normal person at all.
Seeing this, Draco's hands became even more hurried. He hastily set up the iron frame that was originally used to support the crucible, and after searching for a long time without finding any fire starter to light the alcohol lamp, he began to pace anxiously in place.
"Why did I get involved in this?! I actually had to save a Muggle, a stupid Muggle!"
He muttered to himself, as if trying to use Lucius's past teachings to hypnotize himself into believing that there was no need to rush into it.
He's just a Muggle.
What does her life or death have to do with me?
But when Draco saw Mary's pained and distressed appearance again, he became extremely agitated and shouted.
"Okay! Okay! I understand! I'll figure something out! I'll figure something out!"
He hurriedly grabbed a piece of parchment from his desk, then pushed open the door and ran down the corridor of the Auror headquarters, searching for it.
Finally, as he was panting, he discovered a burning torch next to an armored statue!
He lit the parchment with a torch, then, protecting the flames, ran all the way back to his and Harry's bedroom.
Mary appeared to be in a semi-conscious state, barely conscious.
"If Dad knew that I had gone to so much trouble and painstaking efforts just to save a Muggle's life, he would think I was crazy!"
Draco continued muttering to himself, but his hands moved without slowing down. He quickly lit the alcohol lamp and then placed the small pot filled with water on the iron rack.
The alcohol lamp looked small, but it burned a very strong flame, and the water in the small pot boiled in no time.
Draco laboriously carried the pot and poured the hot water into a measuring cup, precisely half a pint.
He then opened the bottle of medicine that Lupin had left him and used a dropper to put a drop of the medicine into boiling water.
After the milky white liquid was dripped into the steaming hot water, the water turned into a murky brownish-black color at a speed visible to the naked eye!
And the water, which had just boiled, immediately cooled down and became mild.
Draco hurriedly picked up the measuring cup, his hands clumsy, even forgetting to pour the medicine into the proper cup, but he still made sure the medicine was at a temperature suitable for a normal person to drink.
"Here you go! Drink it now! You can't die in front of me! That would be a disgrace to the Malfoy family!"
Draco's mouth is always hard, no matter what.
But clearly, Mary, who had lost most of her consciousness, was unable to pick up the potion and drink it on her own.
Draco couldn't help but mutter another word.
"Muggles are such a hassle!"
He picked up the medicine, struggled to lift Mary's head, and fed her the medicine.
Mary swallowed instinctively, drinking down the entire potion of general healing in the cup.
The medicine quickly took effect on her. Although she was not fully conscious, she was clearly not in as much pain as before, and her expression was much more relaxed, although her face was still pale.
"You'll definitely become a celebrity among Muggles someday."
Draco was still talking to himself.
"The girls will all envy you. They'll say, 'Wow, are you the woman who was drugged by young master Malfoy? This is even more dreamlike than Merlin losing his bell-bottoms!'"
"Fine. I'm utterly humiliated. If Crabbe and Goyle knew what I just did, they would never trust me again. They would call me a pureblood scumbag, running around like a house-elf just to save a Muggle!"
He was pacing back and forth in the bedroom as if he had a split personality.
But soon, he heard that strange noise outside!
First, there was a hurried footstep, and he ran over quickly. Then, not long after, a piercing shriek came from behind the door, making his body shudder.
Finally, the sound of a group of four-legged animals running wildly brought Draco back to his senses. He cautiously crouched down by the door and opened it a crack.
Then they saw an ugly-looking fairy in a suit riding a skateboard that was flying in mid-air, looking around in the corridor of the Auror Command Center, searching for something.
Beneath this fairy, countless Madago cats were eyeing him menacingly, constantly trying to pounce on him from mid-air.
Draco certainly understood what the actions of those Ministry of Magic guards meant!
This fairy is clearly an intruder, and may be here to chase Dudley.
Draco panicked, his hand trembled, and he accidentally stepped on the metal rack used to hold the pot, making a sound. The goblin clearly noticed the noise and, who was already searching for something, quickly focused his gaze on it.
Just as Draco's hair stood on end and his heart was in his throat, a figure riding a flying broomstick suddenly crashed into the goblin!
Draco saw through the crack in the door the whole thing: Harry riding a broomstick, getting entangled with goblins, and eventually leading them away.
He closed the door with a bitter feeling in his heart.
"He's playing the hero outside! Who's going to thank me?"
"thank you"
A weak voice rang out at that moment, and Mary seemed to have regained some consciousness.
Whether it was because she had overheard Draco's sour monologue or simply wanted to express her heartfelt gratitude, she struggled to lift her head and sincerely thanked Draco.
This "thank you" made Draco, who had been feeling indignant that Harry was the one getting all the attention while he was stuck there, blush instantly!
He seemed a little shy, but he still tried his best to pretend that he didn't care at all.
"Of course you should thank me!"
But Mary soon began to suffer again. The medicine could only relieve her pain, but it could not cure her completely.
Draco's newly acquired air of a young master was now reduced to that of a servant.
He started boiling water again, making a lot of noise.
"This is so annoying!"
After obtaining what they needed from the French Minister of Magic's office.
Vida led the old bastards, who, after all these years, still remained loyal and only wanted that man to return and continue leading them, back to another monastery in Waldermarn.
The Aurors of all France have been searching for, the Lemaîtres, and their husbands, are imprisoned here.
Upon returning, Vida presented all the confidential information he had regarding Nurmengard to Nicolas Lemaître.
“What you’re saying is that the apartment can’t possibly simulate the actual layout of the prison; you need the original building data.”
Looking at the documents she had slammed on the table, Nick, who was already quite old, carefully put on his glasses and pulled out the photos and data from them.
"That prison. When he first built that prison, it was the Parisian fairy Barbadac who oversaw the planning. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of some pure-blooded French families."
Nick laughed, seemingly showing no signs of tension or fear from being kidnapped. Instead, he looked up and met Vida's eyes.
"These documents are the dark history of the French Ministry of Magic. They would never allow such secrets to be leaked, but now you have them in your hands."
"You impersonated someone else, deceived me and my wife, established that orphanage, raised your Squib grand-nephew, then created leverage against him, and coerced him into harming himself to work for you."
“Even after all these years, Vida Rozier, your brain hasn’t gotten any duller. You’ve got the Aurors of all France completely fooled.”
Vida, however, paid no attention to his praise; she had only one thing on her mind right now.
Beside her, the old shamans were also staring intently at Nick in the middle, if not for the respect they still had for this great alchemist, or rather, the great sage, who had become a living fossil.
They would never let him sit here and talk so easily.
"Regardless of whether our identities are real or not, we still have eight years of friendship, right, Nick?" Vida's voice was icy. "So I don't want to hear anything else from you right now. I just want to know, I've met all your demands, so can you do what I'm asking of you?"
Nick remained unfazed by her threats, seemingly indifferent to his own life and safety.
"Please let me answer your first question first. The person I've been friends with for eight years is the kind, sincere, loving, and gentle Granny Amy, not the venomous Vida Rozier who only has eyes for that man and his so-called interests."
"As for the second question."
He stood up from his chair and said with a smile.
"Since you're all prepared, why can't we set off now?"
Vida simply stared at him coldly, then waved to her accomplices, and green flames suddenly burst into the fireplace behind them.
Using the Filo network, they quickly crossed from France to Austria, and after another three or four hours, until midnight, they finally arrived at the tower prison hidden in the forest!
Apart from Nicolas Lemaître, almost everyone who came here trembled uncontrollably upon seeing the tower.
This tower once witnessed the glory of their generation.
