Chapter 209 Setting the Stage
The next day.

Zhang Muchen discussed Xu Ranxi's transfer procedures with Director Wang in the office.

Director Wang was very efficient. He not only handed over all the relevant materials to him, but also contacted the teachers in charge of this matter at the school.

"Xiao Zhang, all that's left is for you to make a trip to the Education Bureau." Director Wang patted him on the shoulder. "After submitting the documents, just wait for the approval."

"Thank you, Brother Wang." Zhang Muchen nodded.

Suddenly he said again, "Brother Wang, could you arrange for her to be in our class?"

"I'll give it a try, it should be fine."

"Okay, Brother Wang, you're always reliable."

Zhang Muchen waved to Director Wang with a grin, then turned and left the office.

On his way back to the classroom, he walked and pondered his next steps.

"Sister Yang is flying to Beijing tomorrow."

"Today is Tuesday, which means we have to arrange a dinner party and get everyone together this week."

He walked into the classroom, touched his chin, and sat back down in his seat.

I'm already making a plan in my head.

"Saturday is the safest date."

Firstly, there are no evening self-study sessions, so everyone has plenty of time;

Secondly, Xu Ranxi will be able to completely adjust to the time difference in the next few days;
Zhang Muchen pondered, tapping his fingers lightly on the table.

Since we're going to gather this group of people, we need to find a reasonable excuse.

He pondered for a moment, his eyes flickering slightly.

How about... we use Yang Jie's departure as an opportunity?

He reached out and gently tapped Wang Shishi's back in the front row: "Bro, are you free this Saturday?"

"Hehe, yes, I do." Wang Shishi turned around, her eyes sparkling. "What do you want to do?"

"Sister Yang is going to the capital on Sunday, so I plan to have a meal with everyone this Saturday as a farewell dinner for her."

"Huh? Teacher Liu is leaving?" Wang Shishi was a little surprised.

"He went to work over there, and should stay in the capital for a long time."

Wang Shishi paused, then suddenly leaned closer and asked in a low voice, "Dude, Teacher Liu is leaving, are you sad?"

Don't be sad, out with the old, in with the new.

When one girl left, another girl took her place.

However, Zhang Muchen didn't voice her true feelings. Instead, she lowered her eyes and sighed, "Sister Yang has her own career, and there's no stopping her."

Wang Shishi tilted her head and looked at him, then suddenly said with a grin, "Teacher Liu is leaving, but I'm not. Buddy, I'll stay with you."

Zhang Muchen glanced at her and took a soft breath: "Bro, if you want to stay with me forever, then study hard. But what if I go to university and you go to a vocational college? That would be a bit difficult."

"..."

Wang Shishi puffed up her cheeks in anger and turned her head away sharply.

You jerk!
Zhang Muchen chuckled softly behind her, then shifted her gaze to the other side.

Chu Jiuli was looking down at her textbook, her smooth black hair falling beside her ears, giving Zhang Muchen a quiet profile.

To be honest, he'd looked at that profile picture at least a hundred times, if not a thousand.

But every time I turn my head, I'm drawn to it.

That face... is really striking.

However, Zhang Muchen quickly regained his composure, sat up straight, and cleared his throat: "Classmate, are you free on Saturday?"

Chu Jiuli looked up at him and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Sister Yang is going to work in Beijing. I'm planning to have a meal with everyone this Saturday as a farewell dinner."

After listening, Chu Jiuli's expression became noticeably more serious.

"Teacher Liu is leaving..." she repeated softly, then nodded. "I'm free."

Zhang Muchen felt a slight sense of relief upon hearing her reply.

Stable.

If Chu Jiuli is willing to go, Xiaoyouzi won't refuse.

That way, everyone except Xu Ranxi is settled. "I'll find a chance to talk to Xu Ranxi tonight and ask her to join in too."

Zhang Muchen secretly made his plans.

into the night.

Zhang Muchen finished his evening self-study and got home at nearly 11 p.m.

He had just changed his shoes when he casually sent a message to Xu Ranxi, asking her to come over.

The two sat in the room, chatting and eating snacks.

"You're back so late?" Xu Ranxi glanced at her phone, her brows furrowing slightly. "It's almost eleven o'clock now."

She went to the United States after graduating from junior high school and had almost no experience of high school life in China. Although she had heard of the evening self-study system, she still found it somewhat unbelievable that Zhang Muchen didn't get home until the middle of the night.

“Isn’t this how all high schools in China are?” Zhang Muchen stretched. “After you transferred schools, our schedules will be the same.”

Xu Ranxi hugged a pillow, wrinkled her nose, and leaned back in her chair, looking like she couldn't accept it.

"I suddenly feel that returning to China was a bit hasty."

Zhang Muchen chuckled: "You've only been back for two days and you're already regretting it?"

"It's not that I regret it, it's that I didn't expect studying in China to be so competitive." She hummed twice.

Zhang Muchen didn't respond, but changed the subject: "By the way, are you free on Saturday? I'd like to treat you to a meal and introduce you to a few people."

Xu Ranxi narrowed her eyes: "Who is it?"

"Get to know your future classmates beforehand."

"Huh?" She sat up straighter. "I haven't even submitted my application yet, how could I have classmates?"

"Oh. I forgot to tell you, I've already spoken to the school beforehand, and you'll be assigned to our class as soon as you transfer in. We'll be classmates from now on."

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Ranxi was clearly stunned for a moment, her gaze lingering on his face for a few seconds.

Then, she snorted, "You're so annoying, I don't want to be in the same class as you."

Zhang Muchen chuckled and said, "Are you going to eat or not?"

Xu Ranxi didn't reply immediately, but stared at him for a few seconds before saying, "Go ahead. I don't have any friends in China right now, so I can meet some people there."

Xu Ranxi's words are true.

She went to the United States after graduating from junior high school and lost contact with her old friends long ago. Apart from Zhang Muchen, she didn't really recognize any other faces here.

The girl snuggled up to a pillow for a while, then looked up at Zhang Muchen: "I've been back for so long, and you still haven't played the guitar for me."

"What time is it now?" Zhang Muchen glanced out the window and then at the time. "It's too late, it'll disturb the neighbors."

"Then we'll play it this weekend."

"no problem."

"That's pretty much it."

Xu Ranxi was in a good mood. After chatting for a few more minutes, she slowly got up and said, "I'm going home. Come out and see me off."

“Okay.” Zhang Muchen stood up helplessly.

Xu Ranxi walked out of the room and happened to run into Mei Yinglan coming out of the bathroom to wash up.

"Xixi, are you going back?"

"Okay, goodnight, Auntie." Xu Ranxi greeted her obediently.

"Good night, go to sleep early." Mei Yinglan smiled and nodded.

Xu Ranxi put on her coat, turned around, opened the door, and went out.

"Bye-bye." Zhang Muchen waved to her from the doorway.

But Xu Ranxi didn't even turn her head. She took the key, opened her front door, and stepped inside.

The door slammed shut.

"This girl is so rude."

Zhang Muchen looked at Xu Ranxi, who didn't even greet him, and then thought of her obedient face at home, and couldn't help but shake his head.

"Never mind, it's better that she agreed to go out to eat."

Zhang Muchen glanced at Xu Ranxi's closed door, then turned and closed his own door.

The door clicked shut, and the night finally quieted down.
