Chapter 210 The FBI's Conspiracy

Inside the hotel.

Leon followed Brian and his colleagues at a distance, watching them split into two groups: one group continued communicating in the hotel, while the other group went outside.

Without any hesitation, Leon followed Brian out of the hotel and arrived at a crime scene not far from the hotel.

—The assassins have already started fighting amongst themselves, resulting in casualties.

The incident occurred right by the roadside; a gunfight broke out in broad daylight, resulting in the deaths of several killers. Police tape has been put up along the roadside, and local police are currently cleaning up the scene.

Leon watched silently as Brian crossed the police line and chatted skillfully with the officers/FBI agents, his eyes filled with even deeper doubt.

I have no idea what Brian is doing.

Leon suspected Brian's identity, but couldn't confirm it for the time being. Since the old man had often communicated with various officials and appeared at various crime scenes, Leon was unwilling to guess that the blond guy was an official unless Brian produced his identification.

"Luca seems unaware that Brian is in Vegas."

This is what Lyon is most worried about: Bryan contacted the authorities behind the back of the old pigeon. The nature of their relationship seems self-evident.

Brian paced back and forth at the crime scene, phone in hand, deeply dissatisfied with his boss's words on the phone.

"Explain yourself clearly!"

Brian confronted his superior, demanding, "What do you mean 50 FBI agents will arrive in Vegas within an hour? What's the point of sending so many people? You want me to cooperate in taking Buddy in as a witness, do you really need so many agents? You're calling this a large-scale operation! If I had known so many people were coming, I wouldn't have participated in this operation at all!"

He's really confused by what's going on above. At first, he was told to cooperate with a few colleagues to negotiate a witness agreement with Buddy and bring him back—and things went smoothly initially. Buddy's lawyer happily accepted the FBI's terms, and all he had to do was bring Buddy back for "detention," and everything would be over.

Success seemed within reach, but a sudden phone call from his boss left Brian even more confused.

With so many people here, something big is bound to happen.

"I'm on my way to Vegas, I'll talk to you when I get there."

On the highway outside Vegas, the boss explained a few words on the phone and then ended the conversation.

He gazed at the vast, desolate desert landscape around him. Under the scorching sun, even the space itself seemed to distort with light and shadow. A strange heat rose within him. He withdrew his gaze and stared at the latest document retrieved from the FBI archives in his hand, his eyes so deep they seemed to drip with water.

The document details what happened decades ago.

Back then, the undercover agent who infiltrated the Draña family proposed a horrifying plan to the FBI: to kill the real Spallanzan, then have him undergo plastic surgery to change his face, accent, and other habits, and take over Spallanzan's identity, completely transforming himself into an Italian.

Then, in collaboration with the FBI, they infiltrated the Mafia Committee, thereby taking down all the Mafia families in the United States in one fell swoop.

However, shortly after killing Spallanzan, the undercover agent betrayed them, and the FBI was unable to command or contact the other party.

The plan failed.

The FBI has created a monster that can do all sorts of evil.

If this were to come to light, all the FBI personnel who approved the plan back then would be punished. Therefore, the FBI chose to seal the files, completely remove the undercover agent from the list, and refuse to acknowledge that this had ever happened.

Just pretend this person never existed within the FBI.

"So the truth is, it wasn't Spallanzan who discovered and killed the undercover agent back then, but rather the undercover agent who killed Spallanzan and impersonated him."

The boss stared at the documents in his hand, unable to calm down for a long time.

Some of the FBI agents who participated in the cases back then have died, and some have retired. That generation of FBI agents has become history.

Looking back at these decades-long accounts, all that remains are words of betrayal and exploitation.

But that doesn't matter anymore; all the boss knows is that his opportunity has arrived.
Compared to Spallanzan, a high-ranking member of the Mafia, what is this young man Buddy? If he can get Spallanzan to "change his mind," he wouldn't mind helping the old guy.

Compared to life, if Spallanzan would kill his own son for his heart, what does the Mafia's stance matter?

The boss couldn't help but feel excited. He had to seize this opportunity. If he could take down the Mafia Committee with the help of Spallanzan, such a huge achievement would make his future limitless!

Thinking of this, the boss took out his phone and made another call.

The voice on the phone said, "Sparazan's cardiac surgeons are ready."

"Okay, hurry up and bring Buddy over. The people of Spallanzan will cooperate with us."

"clear."

The person on the other end responded and then asked, "What about Brian's agents? They've already gotten involved and don't know the truth yet. Should we tell them what's going on?"

"No need. We can't let more people know about this. The undercover defection case from decades ago implicated too many people. I don't want history to repeat itself. The fewer people who know, the better. That way, even if the plan fails, we won't suffer any losses."

The superior was unsure whether reviving the dying Spallanzan would actually yield any information about the Mafia from him. If Spallanzan betrayed him again, all of this would be for naught.

But even if it's just a sliver of hope, the boss wants to give it a try.

What's the big deal about taking down one Los Angeles family? If we're going to do something serious, let's take down the Mafia Commission and arrest all the big bosses and big shots!
Give it a try and turn your bicycle into a motorcycle.

Faced with life and death, we believe Spallanzan will make the right choice. And compared to such an immense achievement, the wavering Brian is nothing; we can't expect that kid to get any evidence of Luca the Pigeon's crimes.

"Plans can't keep up with changes."

Thinking about Brian's unusual behavior over the past few years, the boss said what he had been preparing for a long time, "Besides, Buddy's death needs a reasonable excuse. Stealing someone's heart can't be exposed, and the FBI won't admit it either."
Everything will remain a secret until the plan is fully successful. Once we succeed, as the victors, we can write history however we want.

If it fails, then someone needs to take responsibility.

The boss's words were somewhat harsh, silencing the other person for a moment: "Brian finally managed to get to Luca's side, are you just going to give him up like this?"

"Brian has a problem."

The boss sighed, "This kid is just like Spallanzan. He's been an undercover agent for so long that he really thinks he's Mafia. I don't believe he hasn't gotten any useful intelligence all these years. If he's unwilling to give out intelligence, there's only one explanation: his heart is already with the Mafia."

This is not what the boss wants to see. Brian has such good qualities, yet he can't do anything worthwhile.

Look at Downey from the Bonano family in New York. He's been undercover for several years and is still hanging around in Miami with Old Left and Black Sonny. His relationship with Old Left is unclear, but he still managed to get a lot of useful information out of them.

The FBI has now gathered considerable evidence of the Bonano family's crimes, and it will be able to dismantle the Bonano family in a short time.

And what about Brian?
Not important anymore.

If this succeeds, the Mafia will be finished, Brian's undercover mission will become insignificant, and there will be no point in continuing to go undercover. If Brian performs well, I might be able to help him regain his identity.

If we fail, does the FBI even have Brian? Isn't that guy a traitor? If it weren't for Brian's interference, we would have succeeded!

"More regrettable than a change of face is a change of heart."

Los Angeles is about 400 kilometers away from Las Vegas, and it takes several hours to drive there.

Luca floored the accelerator, weaving through traffic and staging a high-speed race on the desert highway.

He's starting to regret giving the GTR to Toreto; if he had that top-of-the-line sports car, he could have gotten to Las Vegas much faster.

"How's the situation now?" Luca asked Lyon remotely, wearing headphones.

Lyon explained his observations in detail and objectively, which left Luca silent for several seconds.

Leon: "Judging from the current situation, Brian is also involved in this, but I don't know what he wants to do. Is he trying to help you get rid of Buddy?"

"If that's the case, that would be great. But I'm more worried that this silly boy is being taken advantage of."

Luca murmured, "Brian is too loyal and straightforward; his personality isn't suited for this."

He is not suited to work for the FBI.

Violence is the most typical characteristic of gangs. When Luca doesn't want to use his brain, he likes to solve all problems with violence.

The FBI is a more complicated place than the mob. Take Denham, for example, who used to be honest and hardworking for so many years, but now he still has to take the subway and is struggling to pay for his child's college tuition.

Brian will eventually be played to death in the FBI.

In the original Fast & Furious storyline, Brian trusted the FBI too much, believing that as long as he teamed up with Toretto and helped the FBI capture the Mexican drug lord, he could absolve Toretto of his past crime of robbing a truck.

As a result, the FBI broke its promise, and Torretto was still sentenced to 25 years, forcing the Fast & Furious family to hijack a prison van and causing Brian to completely betray the FBI and become a wanted criminal.

After that, the Flying Cars were forced to leave the United States and wander abroad until Hobbs, a Samoan tough guy from the Diplomatic Security Service, appeared and led the Flying Cars to capture international criminals. In doing so, they gained merit and cleared Toretto and others of their crimes.

After that, Brian retired from the world of martial arts with Mia and their child.

Luca isn't really keen on singing "See You Again" yet.

The blond guy is a pretty good guy. In fact, Luca quite likes his goofy side. It's rare to find such a simple and honest person in a Mafia family.

Lyon's words interrupted Luca's thoughts: "What is Brian unsuitable for?"

“He’s not suited to acting alone. Without us family members around, what can he accomplish by himself?”

After a pause, Luca still didn't tell Leon Brian's true identity. If Leon knew Brian's true identity, he would probably be quite shocked.

Lyon is so naive. They finally made a friend at the club, only to find out he was an undercover agent.

Luca: "Keep an eye on him and make sure he's safe. Don't let anything happen to him."

Lyon: "Okay."

Luca: "I've already arranged everything else. I'll clean up this mess when I get to Vegas."

Leon hung up the phone, looked up, and saw that Brian had already left the crime scene on the street and was heading towards the hotel.

"Brian, what exactly are you trying to do?" Leon muttered.
