Chapter 182 Getting Closer
Liu Jingyi felt inexplicably flustered and had a sense of unease in her heart.

Apart from Liu Jingyi and Sheng'er, who were unaware, Leng Yunting and Ling'er had already noticed something.

However, Leng Yuchen quickly changed the subject with Liu Jingyi.

"Mom, this is delicious, you should try it."

Liu Jingyi looked at the meat he picked up, hesitated several times before finally saying only one sentence.
"it is good."

Then he added, "You eat too, I remember you like beef."

Leng Yuchen hadn't expected his mother to remember his preferences, but he was still very happy to hear it.

"Yes, I like it too. Mom knew all along."

Liu Jingyi felt that Leng Yuchen had many misunderstandings about her, or rather, about her in that life.

Her feelings for him were actually quite complex; it wasn't just hatred.

It was just that she couldn't get over her own conscience, and it was also because she loved Leng Yunting too deeply, but she didn't understand that at the time.

Liu Jingyi hummed in agreement and looked at him seriously as she spoke.

"knew."

He then added, "You don't like eggs, cucumbers, or fish, but you think I don't know that."

Leng Yuchen gazed at her quietly, his seemingly calm eyes revealing a hint of sadness if one looked closely.

Leng Yunting saw it all clearly and felt deeply sorry for him. Even though he hadn't experienced it himself, he was the one who had hurt him in the end.

He didn't know how to make it up to him. He said, "I've never cared about you, only about her."

"Yes, I'm a picky eater."

He felt that he really didn't resemble his mother; even his face was more like that man's, except for his beautiful eyes.

Liu Jingyi looked at him; he was speaking with a smile, yet it made her feel somewhat sad.

After leaving the restaurant, Leng Yunting asked Liu Jingyi to take Ling'er and Sheng'er back, while he took Leng Yuchen to see a doctor.

Leng Yuchen didn't really want to go, but when he met his mother's gaze, he obediently followed her to the pharmacy.

"No need to go see me, I'm fine."

Leng Yunting stared blankly at his son, who looked so much like him, and asked,
"When did it start?"

"From the moment I appeared, my days were stolen, but I am already content."

Leng Yunting felt a pang of pain in his heart. "You're still a child. You don't have to shoulder everything on your own."

Leng Yuchen didn't answer, but continued talking to himself.

"I don't hate you. To be precise, it should be Number One who thanks you, otherwise I wouldn't exist, I think."

"As long as she's happy, that's all that matters. Let's not make her sad again in this life."

"Doctor, he's coughing badly, please take a look at him." Leng Yunting's imposing voice came through.

The doctor looked up at the handsome young man, then glanced at Leng Yunting, and frowned.

"Are there any other symptoms?"

Leng Yunting glanced at him, then pulled the boy behind him forward.

Leng Yuchen said helplessly, "That's all, just a bit of a cough."

"That shouldn't be a big problem."

The doctor prescribed some lung-moistening medicine for him and handed it to Leng Yunting.

Leng Yunting knew that no matter what he did, it would be useless. Although he didn't know how his son got here, he figured it couldn't have been easy.

He wasn't a very talkative person, and he didn't really know what to do.

When they got home, Liu Jingyi was waiting for them in the living room.

Upon seeing the two return, he hurriedly asked,
"How is it? What did the doctor say?"

"It's nothing, the doctor prescribed some medicine."

Liu Jingyi took the medicine and looked at it. It was a few familiar medicines, but she felt that they wouldn't be very effective.

However, she still gave Leng Yuchen many instructions and reminders.
"A cold can be serious or minor. You should take your medicine properly and not take your health for granted just because you are young."

Holding the medicine, Leng Yuchen forced a smile and said, despite his discomfort, "Okay, Mom."

"Mom, are you worried about me?"

Liu Jingyi was certainly worried about him, and very worried at that.

She had a stern face and spoke in a fierce tone.
"Of course, not only will I worry, but Dad will worry about you too."

“I’ll be sad if you’re not well.”

I don't want you to get sick.

Leng Yuchen suddenly wondered if he shouldn't have come.

He shouldn't force it.

Why should he make her suffer? He couldn't bear to see her suffer because of him.

He didn't want her to remember him anymore; he shouldn't have been so selfish.

While Liu Jingyi was still giving him instructions, he suddenly hugged her tightly.

He whispered something in her ear.

Liu Jingyi didn't hear clearly at all.

"What did you say?"

Leng Yuchen released his mother and said with a smile,

"It's nothing, Mom, I'm very happy."

Although she was smiling, Liu Jingyi felt a little sad and uneasy. She wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say.

"Quick, take your medicine first."

"Okay." Leng Yuchen obediently went to take his medicine.

That night, Liu Jingyi lay in bed and asked,

"Did the doctor really say everything's alright?"

Leng Yunting didn't know what to say; he couldn't bear to.

"Okay, don't worry."

Liu Jingyi nodded, and the next day she began to make sure he took his medicine every single day.

Leng Yuchen would obediently take his medicine each time, but in Liu Jingyi's opinion, his cough not only didn't get better, but seemed to be getting worse.

Every day, Liu Jingyi watched his body grow thinner and thinner, and his complexion became paler and paler.

She felt increasingly uneasy.

It wasn't until she unexpectedly discovered the blood he coughed up that she felt a deep pang of pain.

Liu Jingyi asked Leng Yunting to find someone to take him to see, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

She held the examination report in her hand, her expression somewhat dazed, even absent-minded, as if she vaguely knew something.

Seeing Liu Jingyi stop, Leng Yuchen also stopped.

He wanted to tell her that he was okay and not to worry.

But the moment Liu Jingyi looked up, I saw tears on her face.

Liu Jingyi cried, tears unknowingly covering her entire face.

Leng Yuchen didn't know what to say for a moment; he couldn't bring himself to say those words.

After a few seconds of silence, he slowly walked towards her, silently raised his hand, and wiped away the tears on her face.

The dampness on his fingertips mirrored the tears streaming down his face.

After a long while, Leng Yuchen said with a smile,
"Mom, I'm almost better, don't cry."

Liu Jingyi sniffed, then looked at him in disbelief.
"Really? You really take your medicine every day?"

Liu Jingyi was already suspicious. She had clearly watched him eat, so there was no way she could have tampered with the food. Could it be that he secretly vomited it up behind her back?

"Mom, I'm almost better."
