Chapter 293 Where is this?

Su Miaoyi and Lu Zhishen dug diligently, breaking three branches in the process, but they continued digging.

They were digging so hard that they didn't notice Su Miaoyi had stopped immediately.

"Um...did we come to the mountains for team building?" Su Miaoyi was confused, but still made a joke.

“If anyone asks me to dig holes for team building in the mountains on a day like this, I’ll definitely report them to the authorities,” Lu Zhishen said.

After he finished speaking, Chu Xingrou and he both stopped and looked at Su Miaoyi.

Su Miaoyi stared blankly at the two of them, then looked at her hands and the hole she had dug.

There must be a body in this situation.

They were both still looking at her.

Su Miaoyi stared at them for a moment: "Hmm, are you mesmerized by my beauty?"

"Sister Miaomiao, you've switched back?" Chu Xingrou's eyes widened.

Su Miaoyi looked at the two of them, then took out her phone and looked at it.

The timing didn't match up again; she blacked out again.

"Is it a different personality these past few days?" Su Miaoyi asked.

Chu Xingrou nodded.

Lu Zhishen took a bottle of water out of his backpack, unscrewed it, and gave it to her: "Drink some water first."

Su Miaoyi belatedly realized that she was about to turn into a dried-up human body, so she quickly drank more than half a bottle of water: "Ah, I'm alive again."

Lu Zhishen and Chu Xingrou continued digging.

Su Miaoyi took a breath, drank the rest of the water, stuffed the water bottle into her coat pocket, picked up a stick, and started digging.

It was very difficult to dig, and they didn't have any tools. It took them quite a while to dig something out.

“White bones,” Chu Xingrou said.

The three of them slowly dug along the bones, bit by bit, and then, wearing gloves, they took the whole bone out.

"Is this the tibia?" Chu Xingrou asked.

Su Miaoyi had cut her fingers while digging the hole with her bare hands, so she wore two layers of gloves. She took out the other three bones from the hole: "Two tibias and two fibulas."

She looked at both ends of the bone as she spoke; it was intact.

“The left leg is a bit short,” Su Miaoyi said after comparing it. “It’s also somewhat deformed.”

"Lame?" Chu Xingrou said.

With the bones set aside, Su Miaoyi continued digging around the area.

The ends of the tibia and fibula are intact, much like the bones naturally separating after the body has completely decomposed.

So she dug around to the side, trying to find the rest of the bones.

After confirming the presence of a body, Lu Zhishen called Duan Wenrui and the others, asking them to bring men and tools over.

Su Miaoyi dug around a bit, but didn't find anything.

"Sister Miaomiao, you just brought us here and dug several places." Chu Xingrou pointed to a spot not far away.

Su Miaoyi glanced at her, then stood up.

Chu Xingrou led her forward.

Upon reaching the nearest excavated pit, Su Miaoyi looked into the distance.

You'd think she came to scratch Shan's back if you didn't know better.

The three of them squatted down and continued digging.

"There are three shovels in the bag," the voice in my head suddenly said.

Su Miaoyi looked for her bag and carried it on Lu Zhishen's back.

She opened her bag and took out three small shovels: "Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"What?" Lu Zhishen turned around and saw the shovel she had placed on the ground.

"It's alright," Su Miaoyi said. "I brought my equipment."

“We came prepared,” Lu Zhishen said.

She suggested going up the mountain in the morning, and she even brought three small shovels.

Su Miaoyi nodded: "Dig!"

With the shovels, the three of them moved noticeably faster. "It's a skull," Chu Xingrou said.

Carefully take it out; it's full of dirt and pebbles.

Su Miaoyi looked at the edges again; they were still neat.

Then they moved to another location and dug out the feet.

Then come the hands, the two femurs, the two radius and ulna, and the two humerus.

The clavicle, ribs, scapula, shoulder joint, pelvis, and thoracic vertebrae are all buried in one place.

There are eight places in total.

They dug in all eight locations.

The larger ones were taken out first and placed to the side.

Smaller bones, like metacarpals and phalanges, need to be carefully removed.

“It’s been dismembered,” Chu Xingrou said.

Lu Zhishen looked at the skull.

Su Miaoyi said, "The edges were very neat and there was no damage. There were only some marks on the cervical spine. The murderer's dissection method was very skilled and he had a good understanding of the human body."

"Is it a man or a woman?" Chu Xingrou asked.

“Male.” After examining the pelvis, Su Miaoyi looked at the teeth on the skull. She carefully cleaned the dirt off them and said after a while, “He should be between fifty-five and sixty years old. He is lame and his spine is curved, which may be caused by long-term pressure from one side of his limp.”

"Could it be Wu An?" Chu Xingrou asked.

"Who is Wu An?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"Huh?" Chu Xingrou was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant. "Sister Miaomiao, you don't have any memory of these past few days?"

Su Miaoyi shook her head.

Lu Zhishen also looked at Su Miaoyi: "Wu An is a missing person from this village. He had polio when he was a child and has difficulty walking."

“The village?” Su Miaoyi repeated. “Actually, I’ve always had a question: Where are we now? Why am I wearing a coat in this heat? And the plants and soil moisture on this mountain don’t seem like we’re in Jinghai.”

She was very hot and had already taken off her coat and thrown it aside.

“Changshi,” Chu Xingrou said. “You kept looking southwest, and then you saw the words ‘Yanjing Village’ in the picture, which is the village we are in now, so we came here.”

Su Miaoyi nodded: "Tell me about it when you get back."

"it is good."

Just as they were digging into the toe bone, Duan Wenrui and Zhao Yongliang arrived with their men.

"So fast?" Lu Zhishen was somewhat surprised.

It took them most of the day to walk here.

"After receiving your location, we drove from the village to the foot of the mountain in this area, and then came straight up," Duan Wenrui said, looking at the skeleton that had already been pieced together. "It must have taken you a long time to walk up from the mountain, right?"

"It took us ages to walk there."

"This mountain is quite steep, it took us some time to get up here," Duan Wenrui said. "Are you all alright?"

"It's alright," Chu Xingrou said.

Su Miaoyi said she was fine.

"The younger one is Duan Wenrui, the captain of the criminal investigation team of Changshi Branch, who was in charge of the Yanjing Village case three years ago," the voice in her head said to Su Miaoyi. "The older one is Zhao Yongliang from the Yanjing Village town police station."

"Are these the pits where bodies were dug out? Why are there so many?" Duan Wenrui looked around.

“He was dismembered and buried in these eight different places,” Su Miaoyi said.

"This pit is quite deep, how did you find it?" Duan Wenrui asked, puzzled.

"We just happened to find it," Lu Zhishen said.

They were handling the case in a different location and did not disclose Su Miaoyi's situation.

Duan Wenrui squatted down and examined the skeleton.

The large pieces were pieced together.

Su Miaoyi collected all the small pieces together.

"Can we tell how he died this way?" Duan Wenrui asked.

“Here,” Su Miaoyi pointed to the left rib, “there’s a notch in the rib, there was a stab wound here. But it’s uncertain whether that’s the cause of death, we need to do a further autopsy and some toxicology tests.”
