Chapter 51 Give Me Some Face

A secretary in a suit and tie stood quietly in a corner on the first floor, waiting respectfully.

Upon seeing Su Ruoyun, the secretary immediately took a step forward, walked steadily towards her with a smile, stopped a few steps away from Su Ruoyun, and politely asked, "Are you the proprietress of 'Yichuan Tobacco' teahouse?"

Su Ruoyun nodded, her voice soft yet steady: "Yes, it's me."

"This way, please follow me." The secretary in a suit extended his hand in a gesture of 'please,' then turned and led her toward the elevator.

Upon reaching the elevator, he pressed the up button. As the elevator doors slowly opened, he blocked the doors with his right hand, then stepped aside to let Su Ruoyun enter first before following him in.

Being polite and courteous is a fundamental principle of being a secretary.

The elevator carried the two people up the city hall until it stopped on a certain floor. With a crisp "ding", the elevator doors slowly slid open.

The secretary stepped aside, raised her hand to signal, and led her along the corridor with light and silent steps. She was taken to the office of a certain leader.

Secretary: "The boss is still out handling some business. Could you please make some tea for him, madam?"

Su Ruoyun smiled and said, "Okay."

After speaking, she placed the tea set and tea leaves on the table. She had brought a set of Yixing clay teapots, which can preserve the aroma and flavor of tea leaves, making the tea soup more mellow and smooth.

Just as Su Ruoyun finished brewing the tea and the office was filled with its fragrant aroma, the municipal leader appeared at the office door, followed by two other people. The secretary raised her hand to open the door for them.

In the quiet office, a slight noise came from the doorway, but Su Ruoyun was focused on the teapot in her hand and did not pay much attention to it.

When the familiar male voice reached her ears, her breath hitched, her focus on the teapot faltered, and she silently glanced towards the door.

A familiar figure came into view, tall and straight, dressed in a suit and tie.

With just one glance, Su Ruoyun quickly averted her gaze, lowered her eyelids, and tried to conceal the turmoil in her heart. She then focused her attention back on the tea in front of her, and a sense of familiarity welled up in her heart again when she saw the Cullinan in the parking lot earlier.

The first person to see Su Ruoyun was Qi Zhiwen, who was in front. The moment he saw her, he glanced back at Huo Jingcheng without thinking, and then walked in expressionlessly.

Huo Jingcheng hadn't expected to see Su Ruoyun inside the municipal building. His eyes flickered, but then returned to normal.

Once the tea was brewed to its optimal consistency, Su Ruoyun tidied the table as if nothing had happened and prepared to leave.

The leader stopped talking to Huo Jingcheng and Qi Zhiwen, turned to Su Ruoyun and said politely, "Thank you for your trouble."

Upon hearing this, Su Ruoyun smiled faintly and replied softly, "No trouble at all, please enjoy your meal. I'll be going now."

After receiving a nod from her superior, she walked towards the door. As she passed Huo Jingcheng, their eyes met briefly in mid-air before Su Ruoyun calmly looked away.

As she stepped out of the office, she felt a sticky sensation on her palms. Turning to her secretary standing beside her, she offered a polite smile and asked, "Hello, I'd like to wash my hands. Could you tell me where the restroom is?"

The leader had already returned to his office, so the secretary naturally couldn't stay by Su Ruoyun's side any longer. She pointed out the direction of the restroom for her, then politely nodded to her before turning and returning to her office.

After washing her hands, Su Ruoyun left the restroom. As soon as she stepped out, she saw the man standing in the corridor. There was only one way to the elevator, so she had no choice but to pretend she hadn't seen him and prepare to leave.

Huo Jingcheng then reached down and gently pinched a black thread on her shoulder, picking it up.

He deliberately placed that fine, soft black hair in front of Su Ruojun's eyes, letting it sway back and forth, as if mocking her 'unrealistic affection'.

Huo Jingcheng chuckled softly, leisurely appreciating her expression, his tone casual and teasing: "What exactly are you thinking?"

Su Ruoyun's cheeks flushed, she raised her hand and snatched it away, then let go, letting her hair fall to the ground, and argued, "You could have told me, right?"

Huo Jingcheng drawled out a meaningful "Oh~", then leaned closer and said, "Then can I say I want to kiss you next time?"

Su Ruoyun wanted to curse him out directly, but when she caught a glimpse of the person standing by the wall, she immediately stopped talking.

After he finished speaking, the air gradually fell silent. After a long while without any response, Huo Jingcheng followed Su Ruoyun's gaze into the distance and turned his head slightly. He saw Qi Zhiwen leaning against the wall, watching the commotion.
