Hong Kong Nights of Passion

Chapter 127 Don't let her get away this time.

Chapter 127 Don't let her get away this time.

It was past 4 a.m., the sky was still gray, and the drizzle made the air feel oppressive.

Fu Yiyi was worried about the news she learned from Duan Jiaxu, so she insisted on coming to look for the person. The group walked down the steep cliff in the dark.

Chi Yige's white shirt was soaked by the rain and clung tightly to his body. The further he walked down the mountain, the heavier his heart became, and his chest ached in waves, but he still persevered and kept going.

As they walked, everyone called out, "Miss Wen," and Chi Yige even called out anxiously, "Niannian!"

Fu Yiyi, this young lady, had never been on such a mountain road before, and she fell several times, so Duan Jiaxu had no choice but to carry her back.

She cried and said she was useless. Duan Jiaxu comforted her, "Wen knows you're worried. She'll definitely hold on until we find her. Look at all these people looking for her. She'll be alright."

Fu Yiyi then slowly stopped crying.

The rain was still falling, and the group of people were on tenterhooks on the slippery mountain road.

Wen Jinian tilted her head back, letting the cold rain pour into her parched throat. After regaining some strength, she crawled forward, and with each inch she moved, her wounds tore open a little more. But she dared not stop; only by crawling forward could she survive. If she sat and waited to die, she would only be swallowed by the darkness.

Wen Jinian even felt that she could no longer feel her fingernails, her vision began to blur, and every breath felt like a dull knife was cutting into her chest.

Just as her consciousness was about to fade, she vaguely saw her aunt standing in the sunlight waving at her, and Chi Yige opening her arms with a familiar smile.

Warm tears welled up and mingled with the rain, sliding into the corners of her mouth, salty and bitter with an unprecedented ache.

She bit her lower lip hard, the taste of blood spreading on her tongue: "I will definitely get out of here alive... I can't die here..."

In a daze, I caught a glimpse of a swaying figure in front of me.

The shouts reached my ears in a muffled, indistinct way, "Nian Nian... Nian Nian..."

Wen Jinian opened her mouth, then fell into a complete coma.

Chi Yige's hands, which were holding Wen Jinnian, trembled uncontrollably.

The crowd gathered around with flashlights, and saw that Wen Jinnian's foot was tied to a piece of wood, her body was covered in scratches, and her tattered skirt was stained with blood.

"Let's check if there are any other injuries first," Shen Yu reminded him.

Chi Yige forced himself to calm down, and after carefully examining the wound, said, "The main external injury is to the foot. Go to the hospital."

He carefully picked her up, and Shen Yu quickly took off his coat and held it high to shield Wen Jinnian from the wind and rain. The group hurriedly ran towards the parking lot.

In the VIP ward of Canossa Hospital, after the doctor completed a thorough examination of Wen Jinnian and instructed the nurses to conduct a follow-up examination, he finally said, "She needs to stay in the hospital for observation. It is currently uncertain whether she has a concussion. Apply a stabilizing plaster to her foot first, and apply medication to the other abrasions as scheduled."

The medical staff helped me change into my hospital gown and repeatedly reminded me of the precautions before leaving the ward.

The medicine dripped slowly from the IV tube, and Chi Yige sat by the bed looking at the pale-faced person.

Feeling deeply guilty, her eyes welled up with tears.

"Nian... Nian Nian, don't worry, I won't let her get away with this."

Outside the ward, Jiang Shu paced back and forth, and Chi Yige specially arranged for someone to guard him.

At this moment, he held Wen Jinnian's hand, his fingertips tracing her pale cheeks, his eyes bloodshot, guilt and pain almost suffocating him.

There was a noise outside the door. Chi Yige turned his head to look, then gently tucked Wen Jinnian's hand into the quilt, carefully tucking the corners in. He got up, feeling a chill all over his body.

Just as she reached the door, she heard arguing outside. Jiang Shu insisted on going into the ward to visit her.

Chi Yige approached with a cold face, throwing a punch straight at his opponent, his voice as cold as ice: "You are not qualified to see her."

Wen Jin rushed over and shouted, "What are you doing? This is a hospital."

Chi Yige took a deep breath, concealing his sharp edge: "Aunt, it's alright. Please go in and check on Niannian. The doctor said she should stay in the hospital for observation, but she should be fine."

Wen Jin breathed a sigh of relief and quickly walked into the ward.

Fu Yiyi sat on the chair, feeling sleepy and about to fall asleep. She was about to get up and follow him in when she was stopped by Chi Yige's cold gaze, and she swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

Chi Yige turned to stare at Jiang Shu, his tone chilling: "You can leave. If Niannian wants to see you, I won't stop her." Jiang Shu sneered: "What right do you have to restrict me?"

"Just because you almost killed her!" Chi Yige gestured for Li Mingyi to step forward.

Li Mingyi handed over a folder, and Chi Yige pulled out a stack of documents and threw them in front of Jiang Shu: "Look at what kind of person Chen Si is! She's making deals with you while offering 500 million to save Nian Nian's life. If anything happens to her, the Jiang family can forget about having a foothold in Hong Kong."

Jiang Shu's knuckles turned white as she gripped the document, fine beads of cold sweat trickling down her neck and into her collar. Her voice trembled uncontrollably: "No, how could this happen? I just wanted her to help me keep Niannian. I wanted to have a proper talk with her..."

Chi Yige glanced at him sideways, a cold laugh escaping his throat, his eyes full of contempt: "You know better than anyone what you're planning to do."

As soon as he finished speaking, several of his men grabbed Jiang Shu and dragged him outside.

Chi Yige glanced at Fu Yiyi on the chair, then turned to Duan Jiaxu and instructed, "Send Yiyi back. There's no need for so many people to guard this place."

Duan Jiaxu helped Fu Yiyi up, whose eyes were red with anxiety: "Brother, I want to stay with Niannian..."

"Come again tomorrow," Chi Yige interrupted her.

Fu Yiyi kept turning back to look at herself as she walked, until she was led to the end of the corridor and her figure completely disappeared.

Chi Yige walked to the window and suddenly pushed the glass open, letting in the night wind.

He searched his pockets but couldn't find any cigarettes. Li Mingyi immediately took out a cigarette case and handed it to him, lighting a lighter as he did so.

As the smoke rose, Chi Yige's silhouette, hidden in the shadows, became even colder and harder. Li Mingyi couldn't see the expression in his eyes, but standing next to him, he felt a strange sense of oppression.

"Chen Si is still missing?" Chi Yige suddenly asked.

Li Mingyi straightened his back: "Shen Yu tracked down a clue in the car. This person has a triad background and fled to Macau."

After saying that, Chi Yige chuckled and said, "You certainly know how to pick a place."

Li Mingyi quickly added, "The money has been recovered. Shen Yu hacked into the system with code and froze her 200 million yuan account."

Chi Yige stubbed out his cigarette and tapped his knuckles on the windowsill: "Have the old man contact the people in Macau."

He stared at the drizzling rain outside the window, his voice as deep as ice, "This time, don't let her get away again."

Li Mingyi acknowledged and withdrew.

Chi Yige stood leaning against the windowsill for an unknown amount of time until the cold wind dispelled the smell of smoke from his body, before finally stubbing out his cigarette into the ashtray in the corridor.

He gently pushed open the ward door. Wen Jin turned around at the sound of his voice and hurriedly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes: "Niannian will be alright, right?"

"Don't worry, Aunt, I won't let anything happen to her."

Chi Yige's voice was hoarse, "Those who harmed her, none of them will escape."

Looking at the bloodshot eyes and tired face, Wen Jin sighed, "Go back and rest for a while."

Seeing him shake his head, she pointed to the sofa next to him and said, "Go take a nap, I'll keep watch."

Chi Yige nodded reluctantly, but less than half an hour after he closed his eyes, a knocking sound suddenly rang out.

Wen Jin opened the door, and Li Mingyi nodded in acknowledgment before quickly walking in.

Chi Yige sat up straight. "What happened?"

Li Mingyi glanced at Wen Jin, then hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.

"Speak plainly," Chi Yige urged coldly.

"There were two men on the mountaintop with malicious intent."

Li Mingyi swallowed hard. "The old man's men have caught her. Miss Wen tried to escape by climbing out the window, but one of them cut the rope..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Chi Yige's fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. "Make the old man handle things according to the rules. If they dare to touch her, I'll make them wish they were dead."
