Chapter 630 What is this?
Chapter 630 What is this...?
As Strange confidently and stylishly cast his spell, Peter and the Iceman saw a burst of light, after which everything returned to calm.
Then, Strange cast a spell, pulling something out of the temple, and the three of them fell silent in front of it.
Because Strange pulled out a statue, which looked like a statue of Odin.
Odin, incredibly handsome and majestic, with a rugged and heroic air, rides his eight-legged steed and wields the Spear of Eternity, looking extremely dashing.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Peter asked Strange uncertainly, "This... is what Loki is looking for? His dad's super cool statue?"
“I don’t think so…” Strange was very tense: “I think it’s more likely that Odin deliberately placed this as a misleading option to prevent that thing from being stolen, which is this… Odin’s super cool statue.”
The Iceman scratched his head in confusion and then asked, not quite understanding, "Isn't it possible that this is what Loki is looking for? Like, a super cool Odin statue with a magical artifact inside?"
The Modoke, who was tied up behind, was speechless. Just how obsessed are you with the coolness of this statue?
"Aside from one implication that makes the statue seem particularly cool, there is no magic on it, and nothing inside."
Strange patted the statue with his cloak to dispel the spell, then shook his head helplessly.
Regardless of the circumstances, the fact that Olympus and Asgard conspired to put an Odin statue here is incredibly awkward, and for a moment, no one knew what to say.
But then Peter suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Modo: "If he's here to be in charge of the excavation, then he should know what he's looking for."
Modoko paused for a moment, realizing he actually knew what he was looking for. The problem was, he certainly couldn't say; if he did, Hydra would probably kill him. This item was different from others; Hydra valued it highly.
But it seems that it wouldn't make any difference if I didn't say anything. There's a very powerful mage here, and the Avengers can find telepaths. No matter how you look at it, I'm bound to lose. I guess I have no choice but to speak up.
However, Modoko still planned to put up a fight, so that if Hydra really launched a counterattack, he would have a better explanation.
"I don't know anything about this. All I know is that I have to dig up what's here and hand it over. Even if I do manage to dig up this statue, all I can do is hand it over."
Mordor lied without batting an eye, hoping the two would believe he was telling the truth, but his tricks were no match for Strange. Strange simply cast a spell that nearly suffocated Mordor's large head. Mordor held his breath in agony for several seconds before being released, and then gasped for air.
Although breathing underwater is strange in itself.
As Mordor was released and gasped for breath, he told the three men about Hydra and Loki's objective.
"I'll tell you! I'll tell you! It's a skeleton! The skeleton of a Frost Giant! Anyway, the inscription says that you can tell what it is just by looking at it, it's a very terrifying thing." The three people looked at each other. Frost Giants? They already knew that Loki was actually of Frost Giant blood, but the question was, what would Loki want this thing for?
"Do you think this remains would be more meaningful? Like his father's remains or something? Didn't you say Loki's biological father was the Frost Giant King? It seems only Frost Giants of that caliber would be worthy of being hidden by Odin, right?"
Iceman asked uncertainly. Although the conclusion was reasonable, Peter felt it was a bit unbelievable. After all, Loki killed Laufey himself. Why would he need to steal his father's body? And even if he did steal it, what use would it be?
At least three people have not yet come up with such an abstract idea as "Loki stealing his own father's corpse to make a puppet for Malekith".
The other aspect is also very strange.
“Odin placed a statue here to mock those who search for Laufey’s body, indicating that he does not want anyone to find Laufey’s body. But if he really did not intend for anyone to find Laufey’s body, he should have destroyed it or hidden it in Asgard and kept it to himself.”
Peter looked at Strange with confusion: "Why go to all this trouble to hide your statue here, making people think this is Laufey's burial site?"
Odin doesn't need to fish out who his enemies are. For Odin, who has seen the ending of Ragnarok, it's all an open secret. He has been preparing for Ragnarok all along, so Peter simply cannot understand Odin's logic.
But Strange simply rolled his eyes at Peter when asked about this.
“I’m not Odin. You shouldn’t ask me this. You should ask Thor or Odin himself. Who knows what these gods are thinking?”
"In any case, at least we've caught Mordor for now and know what Loki is looking for, so it's not a complete loss." Peter sighed, then looked at the large group of new prisoners about to move into the mansion prison, and then at Strange: "Shall we go back now?"
"Hey guys, have you forgotten why you called me here?"
The Iceman awkwardly reminded Peter that he hadn't forgotten about dealing with Kron and his Winter's Chest, but Kron wasn't here.
Speaking of which, where did Kron go?
Peter, somewhat curious, made a call to Avengers headquarters and discovered that Kron was conquering other Atlantean cities, seemingly perfectly normal. That was strange indeed; it was as if the whole world had fallen into an eerie silence.
Just then, new information came from the captain's side.
"Thor's signal has dropped, Spider-Man. Can you use Strange to teleport there and see if anything's happened to him?"
"What could possibly happen to Thor..." Peter muttered, asking Strange to set a location for him to Thor. Stepping out of the portal, he traveled from the depths of the ocean—no, Atlantis—to a damp and chilly primeval forest. Before he could even react, a tall and imposing Norse god was knocked into his body, and the two of them tumbled out together.
"Thor? What are you doing?"
"Spider-Man? You've come at the perfect time."
After Thor stood up, he pulled Peter up with him: "Amora has found a new villain. I don't know him very well, and I can't get in touch with the Avengers. I need you to tell me who he is."
