Chapter 621 Investigating Roxson
Chapter 621 Investigating Roxson
The reason the Captain was so cautious about taking action was that the Atlantis issue was ultimately an internal affair of Atlantis: a warlord had launched a coup within Atlantis and had Loki's support. From this perspective, the Avengers had no way to intervene.
After all, the Captain couldn't turn the situation into "the King of Atlantis suppressed a domestic rebellion with the help of the Avengers," as that would become a political issue. So the Captain's approach was to take preventative measures and investigate first, and he sent Thor, the only Avenger directly involved, to conduct close-up reconnaissance—after all, the Winter's Chest was stolen from Asgard.
If the other party escalates the problem, the Avengers can quickly mobilize and respond according to pre-prepared methods.
As for Tony, his thinking was completely different: he didn't see the Avengers' operation in Atlantis as a political issue, or rather, it didn't matter; he didn't care. What Tony needed was a reason for the Avengers to intervene directly and concrete evidence to justify the need for action, providing a rationale for their attack.
As for whether the Avengers will interfere in Atlantis's internal affairs? I'm not going there for that, so I don't care about your business.
As for Peter, he generally agrees with the captain, but he can help Tony if they can act in advance to avoid greater casualties.
Why don't I just steal the Winter's Chest? If I can steal it without anyone noticing, then no one in Atlantis will be a match for Namor. Namor will then resolve the rebellion on his own. Wouldn't that be a win-win situation?
"You're a true genius."
Upon hearing this, Strange sighed helplessly, "How are you going to steal the Winter's Chest? Once it's opened, you'll be turned into an ice sculpture the moment it's opened. Magic can only help you last a few more minutes."
"Could Iceman of the X-Men ignore the power of Fimbulb Winter and close the Winter's Box?"
After Peter asked Strange this question, the latter seemed a bit stunned. "Yeah, if the Frost Giant can partially resist the cold of the Winter's Casket and close it, why not just turn himself into a solid block of ice?"
However, this was a mutant problem, and Strange couldn't give a good answer right away. After thinking for a while, he shook his head: "I'm not too sure about that, but he should be able to move freely when the Winter's Box is released. If the Avengers intend to fight against someone who has the Winter's Box, then it would be best to take him with them."
"Furthermore, Spider-Man, don't forget one thing: we still don't know why Loki made Amora hand over the Winter's Chest to the Atlantean rebels. There might be a bigger conspiracy behind this."
"Believe me, Doctor, bad guys always have bigger schemes up their sleeves, which is why we need to act quickly, because the bigger the scheme, the harder it is to execute."
As Peter spoke, he opened a portal and left the Sanctum Sanctorum. Strange watched Spider-Man leave, then turned around to see if he could find any means to deal with Fimbulwinter in the Kamar-Taj library.
Meanwhile, Peter, who had left, pondered the task Tony had given him: to investigate what Roxon Energy's oil drilling platform, which was under construction above Atlantis, was doing. However, after a moment's thought, Peter concluded that it was unlikely they were hiding anything important on the front lines.
"On the contrary, Roxon Energy's headquarters are in Manhattan. Well, let me see what I can find."
He quickly swung to the vicinity of Roxon Energy's headquarters, maneuvering the nanobots into a sufficiently powerful drone that flew towards Roxon Energy. His plan was to first check Roxon's server room headquarters to see if he could find any interesting data. "Thinking back to last year, to investigate Kingpin's dirt, I had to crawl through ventilation ducts to his server room and use an old laptop to crack his documents—now I can do it all from the rooftop in the northwest wind—found it. It was really well hidden, with absolutely no physical protection."
Or is it like Kingpin, where the external server rooms are just for show and a facade?
As the cracking program ran rapidly, Peter soon saw a large amount of confidential information within Roxon Energy, but most of it was useless trade secrets—in fact, Tony had specifically swept through Roxon's database a few months earlier, trying to find clues about their collusion with Hydra, but to no avail.
Therefore, Peter was only trying to find some clues to see the information about Roxon's apparent oil extraction in Atlantis.
"A government report indicates that the area is not an Atlantean settlement—the date of this report is quite interesting, coming just recently. It's as if the Rockx Corporation suddenly decided to start drilling for oil..."
Peter thought for a moment and immediately connected to the communications inside Avengers Tower.
"Captain? Dr. Pym? Mr. Stark? Is anyone at the Avengers base? Didn't anyone ask Namor about anything special about that city? It seems like the Roxon Corporation and Amora went straight to this place after they partnered up; they might have come specifically for this city."
Peter continued browsing the data as he spoke, but after several seconds of no reply, he asked in confusion, "Is anyone there?"
And still, no one answered.
He suddenly sensed something was wrong and immediately swung his way towards Avengers Tower. Looking down, he could see the shattered glass facade of the Avengers Tower. Peter swung inside and saw Hank Pym lying unconscious on the ground. He immediately went up to check on him.
The good news is that Pym was only knocked unconscious. Peter quickly woke him up and asked him what had happened: "What happened, Dr. Pym? How did you get knocked out?"
Pym, helped up by Peter, looked around in utter confusion, frowning as he pondered. Then, as if recalling something, he uttered a bombshell revelation.
"Ah... I, I remember now. I think I was knocked unconscious by Namor."
???
what are you saying?
"Namor planned to take back Atlantis himself, and then, worried that I would notify the Avengers, he knocked me unconscious. That's about it."
Pym looked at the broken glass facade and said helplessly, "I wonder how long he's been running. He might already be close to Atlantis."
