I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 608 Fear the Lord of the Seven Seas!
Chapter 608 Fear the Lord of the Seven Seas!
"So, does anyone know what's really going on with this 'Deep Sea Prince'?"
Fully prepared, Tony immediately set off. Peter, connected to the Iron Man suit by a spider web, was carried by Tony to the waters off New York. At the same time, Tony communicated with Captain America.
After all, he didn't know Namo at all, nor did he know who this person was. And the captain didn't know how to answer this question.
“Namor is a hybrid of human and Atlantean, as you all should know.” The captain, who had captured Abomination once again, sent him to the Cube Prison and communicated with Tony: “But he hardly considers himself human at all, and only sees himself as an Atlantean.”
Namor was born in 1921 and lived in New York City before the outbreak of World War II. During that time, he was exploring his identity. However, unlike the superheroes that people usually think of, he did not see himself as both human and Atlantean, but chose to become a full-fledged Atlantean.
However, he is not simply a hybrid. His father gave Namor the X gene, granting him mutant abilities. Therefore, he is not only the ruler of the Seven Seas but also a powerful mutant, ranking among Alpha-class mutants alongside Professor X and Magneto.
Furthermore, because he was entirely aligned with Atlantis, even before World War II ended, he would attack the Allies for causing underwater pollution due to their frequent sinkings of German submarines. This is extremely...abstract.
"Moreover, Namor is very powerful. Unlike ordinary Atlanteans, he not only has a strong physique, but also the superpower to control the ocean."
"I thought he only had the powerful superpower of talking to fish."
Tony grumbled as he flew, and at the same time he saw a fireball hurtling toward the sea—it was the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four. He rushed toward Namor even faster.
In the 1930s and 40s, Namor and the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond, fought twice. The first time, it was a case of two heroes becoming friends after a fight. The second time, however, was Namor's act of revenge for the Allies sinking too many German submarines and warships.
"It looks like we're about to have our third war of fire and water... Oh, it seems like it's already started."
In the distance, a fierce clash erupted between bursting flames and raging floodwaters. However, the conflict was brief and swift, ending by the time Tony and Peter arrived.
Well, Johnny was soaked to the bone and Reed pulled him back, while Susan was trying to stop the raging flood with her force field, and then there was the Stone Man, who wasn't very capable and was just driving the car.
As for Namor, he remained standing nonchalantly on the water, seemingly unaffected, and even casually commented on the Human Torch.
“You’re nowhere near as good as Jim Hammond. Even though you’re hotter than that guy, you’re no match for me.”
Peter, who had jumped to a high-rise building, observed Namor and noticed that although the guy didn't seem to care much about communicating, his eyes kept glancing towards Susan.
"They are old acquaintances. Back then, Namor was amnesiac after being attacked, and it was the Fantastic Four who found him, helped him regain his memory, and reclaim his throne."
Tony, who is quite familiar with the Fantastic Four, introduced their history with Namor, and then complained: "But obviously, this kind of connection and story can't do anything to this little prince of the deep sea."
Namor, seeing Tony arrive, finally seemed somewhat interested. He addressed the Avengers' chief leader, saying, "Tony Stark, you should know that the surface creatures launched a fierce bombardment yesterday over the vast seas under my control."
Peter interrupted Namor first: "Were there any casualties?"
Namor had intended to say more, but after being interrupted by Peter, he answered the question with slight dissatisfaction: "It's fortunate that there were no casualties."
The next question was an extension of Peter's question: "So, did Atlantis suffer severe economic losses?"
"nor."
Namor's answer surprised Tony. There were no deaths or economic losses in Atlantis, so why would you bring hundreds of people and drive a tsunami to New York?
"If you're not satisfied, can't you send a diplomatic ambassador to protest?" Tony, unsure of Namor's intentions, asked, "So, what is Atlantis planning now...?"
"I am here to demonstrate the power of Atlantis to you, and to tell the whole world that no one can threaten Atlantis!"
After Namor finished speaking, both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four fell silent. That's it? That's all?
Still unsure, Tony continued, "Um... and then?"
"What then?"
"You officially announced the existence of Atlantis to the world, and you succeeded. So what?"
However, to Tony's surprise, Namor's answer was indeed yes.
"That's it, it's over. Remember, the Lord of the Seven Seas has been watching everything you did on the sea!"
Watching Atlantis and the tide recede into the distance, Johnny, soaked to the bone, finally managed to utter a single sentence after a long pause.
"Is this guy crazy?"
"It's hard to say. He might really be mentally ill. My dad has the utmost respect for most of his WWII comrades, but this guy is the only one my dad doesn't know what's wrong with him."
After venting his frustrations, Tony shared his thoughts.
Peter was also completely bewildered. He couldn't understand Namor's logic at all and felt that Namor might be some kind of deep-sea octogenarian who would breathe on you if you touched him.
Everyone quickly realized that nothing else was happening, so they went back to their own business. Peter did the same; because the live broadcast had been going on, the Daily Bugle had actually given it a special report.
As a result, as soon as Peter explained, he received messages from Gwen and Cindy. After quickly letting them know he was safe, Peter took the opportunity to begin patrolling New York.
Meanwhile, he was still pondering what had just happened. Although Namor himself seemed like a madman, surely there were no dissenting opinions throughout Atlantis?
Therefore, Peter always felt that Namor's actions were not completely over yet. There was still something else waiting to happen.
Then, this is a story that will happen next month, and I won't go into details yet.
The withered Namor, Lord of the Seven Seas, was teleported into Avengers Tower by a beam of light and extended his hand to the Avengers present.
“I…Atlantis needs your help…Avengers.”
As I wrote at the end, Namo's side will be written in a few chapters about daily life.
I added that sentence simply because I thought it would have a good effect.
