Chapter 600 Houston, We're in Trouble

Chapter 600 Houston, We're in Trouble
At the Airbus base, Fitz took out his treasured miniature drone and prepared to explore the slaughterhouse.

Are you sure you can handle this?

Upon hearing Ward's words, Fitz, sitting in front of the computer, looked at his older brother with incomprehension: "This, this is not difficult at all, it's just operating a drone."

"But you're going to be exploring a place that could be teeming with symbiotes. Not to mention you're going to be facing a serial killer."

Ward put a hand on Fitz's shoulder and tapped his shoulder with his fingers: "Are you sure you can handle what we're about to see?"

"..."

After a few seconds of silence, Fitz quickly stood up and handed him the remote control: "Here you go. It works similarly to a game controller. Don't tell me what's inside after you're done using it."

Ward watched Fitz leave with amusement, then sat down at his computer and began exploring. Most of the others didn't come into the room; only Peter remained.

"Are you sure you want to stay?" Ward asked Peter as well. He knew that Spider-Man was just a student who hadn't even started his second year of high school yet, and what was about to happen might be too terrible for a minor.

Peter, however, wasn't scared at all. He just shrugged and said, "If you'd ever been to a universe where all the Avengers were zombies and were eating living people right in front of you, you probably wouldn't find it so disgusting."

"That was truly a very...unforgettable experience."

For a moment, Ward didn't know how to describe Peter's colorful life, so he simply started the mission. The sphere carrying a small drone quickly fell, and then the dragonfly-sized drone began its exploration.

Regardless of what clues Cletus left them, Peter had no intention of acting according to their demands. Why should I walk into a trap just because you've set one?
Aren't drones more appealing?

Mr. Drone flew into the cattle pen, and the symbiote's detector almost exploded. It showed a large number of simple, single symbiote signals, almost all of which came from these cattle. Without a doubt, these cattle were all victims of the slaughter infection and could become monsters at any time to attack others.

The drone circled around several times without finding any clues, and then headed to the next place where there might be clues: the barn.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. has analyzed the results of your report and there are new developments."

Fitz, hiding outside the door, spoke with Ward and Peter: "This family's transaction records, activities, and internet access all disappeared early yesterday morning, so they've most likely run into trouble..."

"Thank you, Fitz, for telling me this when I had already found it."

Ward sighed helplessly. The drone had arrived at the scene of the crime, and just as Ward had said, the killing had already begun; all they could see now was the scene itself. "What a big family. Looks like there are quite a few people in this family." Ward looked at the table full of corpses and suddenly asked uncertainly, "Wait, isn't this...?"

The corpses of the entire slaughterhouse family were all seated neatly on the dining table. Apart from their heads being split open and eaten, nothing seemed abnormal. However, the deliberately arranged long table made the scene very strange. Peter, suppressing his nausea, looked at it and gave a definite answer: "Arranged like this, it's undoubtedly the Last Supper."

"The Last Supper? What does that mean? Is this guy hiding inside some religious facility?"

Peter didn't believe that a murderer like Cletus would point to such a vague answer. He thought the so-called Last Supper must have something else to it, and there were other clues around.

So the drone continued its flight, heading towards the bedroom, where the television was still on for some reason, playing the news. Even more surprisingly, it was the Daily Bugle reporting the news.

It's really outrageous.

"I need to clarify that I'm not targeting Spider-Man! But his remarks are simply outrageous! To demand that NASA halt spacecraft launches based solely on descriptions that he himself can't even provide evidence for is utterly absurd..."

Jonah Jameson was broadcasting news against Spider-Man as usual, this time even going so far as to criticize Peter Parker's previous suggestion to NASA to stop rocket launches because he was worried about anti-Earth phenomena.

It's important to understand that, given Earth's current technological level, there are undoubtedly many things to be done before we can break through the negative wave zone. If John Jameson goes missing in space, Peter's plan to cosplay as Spider-Man to rescue him won't be able to get to Earth.

But why would Cletus put the Daily Bugle here? Is the information about Spider-Man's Last Supper? Of course not. Cletus isn't one to engage in malicious provocation; he wants his massacres to be aesthetically pleasing and creative. So the clues must be hidden somewhere else.

Peter scrutinized the television screen once more, pondering what news Spider-Man would definitely not miss. Cletus probably had no idea what stories the Daily Bugle would be airing. (Except for Jonah Jameson's habitual attacks on Spider-Man.)
"That leaves... Jonah Jameson talking about his son John's upcoming spaceflight and the importance of their mission—space travel, the Last Supper? How could I not have thought of that?!"

Hearing Peter's words, Ward seemed to realize something, then looked at Spider-Man: "You mean, Carnage is planning to kill the astronauts?"

"It may not be to slaughter astronauts. That would be too obvious a target and easily protected. Cletus is just bad, not stupid. This is most likely the location of the next target. He has turned his attention to Florida. The rocket launch site at Cape Canaveral is just a hint to accompany the Last Supper."

Peter tried his best to say this to avoid the most troublesome situation. He didn't really believe that Cletus had created all this just to tell Peter a location. The ultimate plan for the massacre was undoubtedly related to the rocket that was about to launch, it was just that Peter didn't know the connection yet, and it would be really foolish to target the pilot.

"Cletus, what exactly are you planning...?"
