Chapter 517 The Timely Reinforcements
Chapter 517 The Timely Reinforcements
Are you sure this plan is feasible?
Gwen and her companions arrived near the Brooklyn Bridge and saw the traffic severely restricted. A massive wall of blue electricity shot into the sky, and without a doubt, anyone who tried to enter, no matter what methods they used, would be detected.
That's why Gwen couldn't help but ask Cindy, since it was Cindy who proposed the plan. Cindy nodded and then handed a tube of Pym Particles to Katie, who was standing to the side.
Her plan was simple: she and Katie would shrink, and then Gwen would carry them both into Manhattan. Katie's ability would make anyone she came into contact with immune to any physical harm, while Gwen would allow them to enter Manhattan without ever being detected.
As for Cindy, all she had to do was sense Peter's location and then find him.
"Okay, let's get started."
Gwen took a deep breath, watched as her two companions shrank, and then held them in her hands before beginning her stroll toward Manhattan. To avoid being discovered by Electro beforehand, they activated their powers halfway across the bridge, and she walked with extreme caution, not daring to take any large steps, so much so that it took almost an hour to reach the end of the road.
Fortunately, Cindy was able to sense Peter's physical condition; otherwise, Gwen wouldn't have been able to guarantee that she could walk so steadily. When she arrived in front of the Lightning Barrier, she simply closed her eyes and walked over.
Then came a strange feeling, like... like walking in water. She arrived in Manhattan with remarkable ease, then found a safe place to put the two of them down and watched as they restored their size to normal.
Cindy tilted her head.
“Peter, he’s underground, he must be hiding in the sewers.”
Upon hearing this, Gwen couldn't help but complain, "Why does it feel like Spider-Man and the sewers are always so inextricably linked?"
"There is no such thing."
“Okay, the sewers, right?” Katie grabbed their hands. “If you feel uncomfortable going through objects, please close your eyes. We’re heading underground.”
“I haven’t…” Gwen felt nauseous again, then entered the dimly lit sewers. Cindy took out a flashlight and led the way, with Gwen and Katie following behind. Gwen looked at Katie with some confusion, because she really didn’t know Katie. She knew Peter knew the X-Men and quite a few of them.
But in her mind, the X-Men were supposed to be a group of middle-aged men in their thirties and forties. She didn't expect there to be such young members.
As for Katie, it was a complete accident that she didn't participate in the X-Men's mission to support Peter, but it was also a good thing that she was able to come to Manhattan to help Peter now. After they had been walking in the tunnel for a while, Cindy suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?"
"There are enemies."
Cindy looked ready to fight, but Katie immediately pulled them inside the wall. A group of octopus robots of varying sizes passed by, unaware of the three people who had passed through the wall and appeared behind them. Katie looked behind her in surprise: "How did they manage to create so many robots so quickly?"
No one could answer the question. After the three continued searching through Manhattan's sewers for a while, Cindy stopped again, but this time for a different reason. "Peter isn't far away."

Six hours after Doctor Octopus announced he was taking over Manhattan.
Magic City.
Because of the fall of Manhattan, the United Nations chose to hold a global leaders' meeting here. Within nearly six hours, most of the world's leaders had arrived. President Matthew Ellis grumbled as he got off the plane and looked at the flags of Latvia and Kenosha fluttering in the distance.
“Victor von Doom was at least an internationally recognized national leader. What about Magneto and his mutant rogue state? Have they been recognized by more than ten countries?”
“Perhaps you should consider our enemy, Your Excellency the President.” Colonel War Machine, who was following nearby as a bodyguard, said helplessly, “Magneto is a powerful mutant, and a super powerful mutant at that. Perhaps we shouldn’t rule him out.”
“I know, but it’s still illogical to fly the regional flag of Kenosha.”
President Ellis expressed his dissatisfaction, believing that Magneto should not have been present at this meeting. Of course, mutants, as a powerful fighting force, would certainly be helpful in dealing with Kang the Conqueror, and therefore Magneto would definitely use this as leverage to push for Genoa's international acceptance as a normal nation.
No normal country would accept Kang's demands. Perhaps some people would, but at least a truly great power would not.
Moreover, from Earth's perspective, although only a year has passed since the Battle of New York, they have an absurd number of cards in their hands. Not to mention, the main gods of the Norse, Greek, and Slavic pantheons are all on Earth now. You, a person from the future, may be able to play according to modern technology, but can you really defeat these gods?
President Ellis entered the conference room with a muttered remark, shook hands amicably with the leaders of various countries, and then joined the assembly. Almost no one chose to accept Kang's terms, and the discussion quickly moved on to how to counter Kang.
At the meeting, both Doctor Doom and Magneto Erik expressed their willingness to participate, especially considering the Fantastic Four's loss of contact. Ultimately, the meeting proceeded exceptionally smoothly.
Eight hours after Doctor Octopus announced his takeover of Manhattan, the United Nations finally decided to reject all of Kang the Conqueror's demands and form a joint force to enter low Earth orbit to strike Kang's fleet. This force, deployed by S.H.I.E.L.D., includes government officials and volunteer superheroes from around the world, the mutant forces of Genosha, the Latvian Army, the Wild Chapter, and alien advisor Mar-Vell.
The moment the meeting ended, Nick Fury approached the captain and asked, "Do you think we can win?"
"We will fight to the last moment."
That wasn't a good answer, Fury sighed, and the captain asked another question: "How's the situation in Manhattan?"
"Things are going well. My team has found Spider-Man, and I believe they are working on a counterattack plan. Once things are settled in Manhattan, we can bring in another batch of people to the battlefield."
Fury handed the captain a cigarette. The captain looked at the cigarette, sighed helplessly, and took it.
"I haven't smoked in almost eighty years."
"Or less than two years, Captain."
