Chapter 492 Earth 811: Apocalypse
Chapter 492 Earth 811: Apocalypse
Let's turn our attention to Earth-811 and see what the local resistance is planning. After receiving information about Apocalypse from Spider-Man on Earth-616, Iliana led the resistance to Egypt in an attempt to find the location of Apocalypse's seal.
Both Peter Parker and Logan were very certain that Apocalypse had never appeared in their timeline. Now, the existence of an Omega-level mutant, who was very likely even more powerful than Magneto and Professor X, might really improve their situation.
At least Peter wouldn't want Spider-Men from other worlds to sacrifice themselves for his own. Nimrod is far more powerful than them, and if they were to unite in a battle, many people would likely die.
And so, the professor and Peter arrived in Egypt via teleportation.
“I’ve made a list of anything that might still be useful in places like the old Avengers base and Sanctum Sanctorum.” Peter looked at Iliana after the teleportation was complete: “Don’t use teleportation too often. Remember to coordinate with Katie. As long as Nimrod hasn’t caught her, we still have hope.”
If Nimrod also absorbs Phantom Cat's power, then Earth 811 will truly have no hope left.
"Okay, okay, I get it."
Iliana waved her hand: "Then I'm leaving. If you encounter any problems, just have the professor call me and I'll take you home."
Peter nodded, then turned to look at the vast desert. They hadn't been able to pry any information about Apocalypse's whereabouts out of the ominous sign, so they had to resort to other, less efficient methods.
The professor was the one who implemented the clumsy method. He put a simplified brainwave device on his head: "If Apocalypse is really still alive, then I will definitely be able to detect his faint brainwaves. This is the key to breaking the deadlock, kid."
"Do you really think that with Apocalypse, we'll have the ability to compete with Nimrod?"
Peter asked in silence, feeling somewhat incredulous. Everything seemed to be going too smoothly, almost unbelievably so. The professor also paused for a moment, but not because of Peter's question; he simply spoke slowly.
“You have led everyone to survive in this apocalyptic world for ten years, child. You have helped countless people continue to live. Now we have the opportunity to completely end this apocalypse, but you hesitate.”
"I'm just... I'm just afraid of losing everything I have now."
“Don’t be afraid, child, we have nothing left to lose.” The professor patted Peter on the shoulder, then his face lit up with joy: “Ah, I guess we’ve found it.”
It was an ordinary mountain in the Egyptian desert, looking no different from any other mountain. Peter and the professor searched the mountain twice, finally finding the spot with the clearest brainwaves, discovering the passage that the ominous sign had opened years ago. After testing the oxygen content inside, they crawled in together.
This was a very spacious cave, but it was severely damaged. Several corpses dressed in late 19th and early 20th-century clothing lay there. According to the ominous interpretation, these were the descendants of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the guardians of the sealed land of the Apocalypse. The ominous killed them to prevent the Apocalypse from descending.
The question now is, how do they awaken the Apocalypse?
After carefully examining the surrounding murals, the professor chose the most direct and dangerous method: he directly used telepathy to connect with Apocalypse's dormant brain. In an instant, the professor collapsed to his knees in agony, letting out a wail. Peter rushed to help the professor up, only to find that the altar in front of them had suddenly opened.
A tall, muscular man with grey skin floated up. In his millennia-long slumber, his muscles hadn't atrophied in the slightest; he remained as robust as a warrior. He was still dressed in the attire of an Egyptian pharaoh. He slowly landed on the ground and opened his eyes. "Is what you said true?"
"Yes, it's true."
Peter helped Apocalypse up, having telepathically told him everything that had happened during this time, Nimrod's abilities, and the reason for liberating Apocalypse. Apocalypse waved his hand, causing the entire valley to deform and open a passage. A staircase appeared beneath Apocalypse's feet, slowly forming as Apocalypse lifted his leg.
Apocalypse is waiting.
He was waiting for Ninglu.
One after another, Nimrod Sentinels descended from the sky, looked at Apocalypse, and uttered in unison, cold voices: "Omega-class threat detected. Execute elimination immediately."
"Clear?!"
Sensing that the Nimrod Sentinels were still made of matter, Apocalypse smiled: "You mechanical creations dare to talk to me about clearing things up? You may not have had the concept of fear before, but at this moment, you will feel fear, machines!"
Before countless Nimrods even landed on the ground, they underwent deformation in mid-air. Except for the promethium metal that was imperceptible within their bodies, all other materials instantly transformed into other elements. Every atomic nucleus was tearing apart and recombining. In the end, one new heavy element after another was born within these Nimrods. Apocalypse tore apart the Earth matter within the Nimrod Sentinels, manipulated their atomic nuclei to collide with each other, and then detonated fission matter.
Then came a devastating nuclear explosion, the sky engulfed in flames, and atomic fires incinerated the already lifeless land. Tianqi used his telekinesis to create a shield, preventing the explosion from harming them. However, his expression was not relaxed; instead, it became serious. In the aftershocks of the explosion, the liquid metal began to rapidly recombine. They seemed capable of self-replication and growth, gradually restoring their original form in a very short time.
Self-healing ability: Every Nimrod Sentinel possesses self-healing capabilities.
“Contact your teleporter, let’s go. There’s no point in fighting here. I can defeat them, but I can’t beat them.” Apocalypse looked at the professor: “Don’t worry, I will grant you even greater power. There are enough of you to form a new Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. At that time, at least you won’t hold me back.”
At this point, Apocalypse looked at the Nimrod Sentinels in the sky, who had not yet fully recovered, and still revealed a smug smile.
“The past of the future has ended,” he said. “And the era of Apocalypse is about to begin.”
The transition was abrupt, but the next few scenes all involve Earth-811.
Chapter Two will be posted a little later, before 7 PM. I definitely won't be late today.
