Chapter 488 Intermission
After communicating with the future Professor through Katie, informing them of Apocalypse's existence and letting them decide for themselves, Peter said goodbye to the X-Men and left. He still felt Katie's reaction was a bit strange. Even though they were comrades in the future, and she knew his true identity, she seemed to trust him a little too much.

Surely not... no, please don't be. I'm already having a headache, and I don't want to face similar situations everywhere I go.

Peter sighed and prepared to go home. The entire process of targeting Nimrod could be divided into two parts. The first part, preventing Nimrod's birth in the modern era, was basically completed. With the destruction of AIM, Stark Industries' acquisition of Trascasso, and the X-Men's series of actions, it's now clear that it's impossible to bring Nimrod into existence according to the original Earth-8/11 timeline.

Moreover, with the changes in the past, the connection between Earth-811 and Earth-616 is becoming increasingly weak, and Peter can clearly sense that the Spider-Man from that other world is becoming more and more different from himself. It can be said that Earth-616 has temporarily escaped the fate of its past future.

Their main enemy has become Nimrod from the future. Now Nimrod and the X-Men are racing against time to gain the upper hand. Promethium, the Mother Model, and Rakshasa are all things that both sides need to fight for.

But none of this mattered to Peter for the time being. After returning home through the window in his uniform, he deactivated his invisibility, then collapsed onto the bed, deciding not to think about anything for the time being, nor did he need to.

I need to get some rest.

Peter sighed, feeling that he was far removed from his school life. He had been dealing with various crises almost every day for some time, and had hardly had any time to go to school. In fact, LMD had been helping him go to school for several days.

I feel like I've completely drifted off from my school life.

Peter sighed, then opened his schoolbag, took out his phone to see what homework he had, did some homework and read some books for a while, before Peter Parker admitted a despairing truth.

Compared to books and learning, saving the world seems to be much more interesting.

After a helpless sigh, Peter Parker realized that he could no longer be an ordinary student.

He forced himself to finish his homework, then yawned, feeling an unprecedented fatigue. After a period of silence, he took out his phone, hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to send a text message to someone.

A few seconds later, he heard the sound of a window opening on the second floor next door, so he jumped off the bed and went to the window.

"You should be able to hear me from home, right?"

Gwen opened the window and chatted with Peter: "There's no need to contact each other by phone, is there?"

“I know, I just… well, I’m not busy lately, so I don’t know what to do for the time being.”

Peter looked at Gwen with a hint of helplessness: "Do you have any good ideas?"

"No, I don't know what you should do either."

Gwen shrugged and said helplessly. The two of them just stood there looking at each other from their windows. After a while, Gwen thought it was really stupid, so she simply went out.

"Let's go, smart kid. Since we don't know what to do, let's just wander around."

The adults were all at work, and since there was no need to save the world today, Peter genuinely didn't know what to do. He seemed to be gripped by a kind of panic: world peace was clearly the best thing, but he felt that in a peaceful world there was nothing he should do.

"Would this be considered a form of PTSD for superheroes?"

After listening to Peter's description, Gwen couldn't help but ask, and Peter shrugged helplessly: "I don't know either, maybe. The problem is, I don't know what to do either." "What about the other Avengers?"

Peter thought about the others very seriously.

“Tony Stark also has serious psychological problems. After the Battle of New York, he inevitably fell into the panic of invasion by advanced civilizations and thought about upgrading his armor every day.”

"The captain, on the other hand, has not fully adapted to this era, or rather, he is resisting it. He doesn't socialize, doesn't have a job, and spends his time training except for fighting as an Avenger."

"And then there's Dr. Banner; Hulk is his biggest psychological problem. Dr. Pym isn't much better; he's a pacifist, but the Avengers' actions tend towards violence."

Thor and T'Challa are a warrior and a crown prince, respectively, and the other is a king. Their understanding of responsibility and related matters is probably different from Peter's. So, it seems that only Bumblebee can be considered mentally healthy?

However, as is well known, the Wasp basically only plays a mascot role in the Avengers.

"What kind of people are you Avengers? You're like a ward for mental patients."

Gwen complained somewhat helplessly, saying that this group of people was the "world's strongest hero team" and was considered by countless people to be the last line of defense for protecting the world.

However, none of them seem to be a perfect being like Superman.

"So, we don't need Spider-Man these next few days?"

"Always available, but it seems we don't need Spider-Man for the time being."

"Then, the simplest way is to go back to the life you had before you gained those abilities."

Gwen offered her suggestion: "How about we try what we've done before?"

Peter wasn't sure if this method would work. The key issue was that everyone around him knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man, and everyone would understand that he had to sacrifice something to save others. Could he really act the same way as before?

Hey, wait.

“I suddenly had an idea.”

On a whim, Peter and Gwen made a suggestion: "If all else fails, we can go to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters to experience life there, just like we're mutants. The students there don't really know me, so I can relax more there."

"Putting aside whether this is a good idea or not..." Gwen said hesitantly, "Even if we're going to pretend to be mutants, we'd still need to have superpowers, right?"

They both actually have superpowers, it's just that Gwen's powers are hard to detect. After pondering for a while, Peter finally convinced Gwen with a single sentence.

"Anyway, why not give it a try? It's an academy where everyone can freely use their superpowers, Gwen. Don't you want to go there and see what's fun?"
