Chapter 482 Avoiding Death?

Peter felt a wave of dizziness, and his vision changed. Everything around him seemed to blur, as if he had developed a second vision. In this vision, color was meaningless, and everything around him appeared in his mind as outlines.

How to put it? It's a bit like Hawkeye from Assassin's Creed, able to sense the number of enemies, their weapons and equipment, etc., within a certain range through walls or other obstacles.

He now understood why Spider-Man Noir was able to so easily discover how many gangs were hiding there.

He probably believed Anansi's words that the Spider Legion was just a group of spider totems, not heroes, recruited by a few spider gods, and that the purpose of forming the army was to wage war.

"So, who exactly is that woman named Anastasia? Was she the one who sold the Hydra totem on Earth 616? Is she also a spider totem?"

"Stop, stop, Spider-Man, don't you think you're facing too much trouble right now? Let's put the later stories aside for now and talk about the stories you're facing right now."

The rest of the story to face... does that mean what Peter needs to worry about now? First and foremost, without a doubt, is Nimrod. Nimrod is causing trouble on Earth 616 and we still can't find any evidence against him, which is really troublesome.

"You mean... traversing the multiverse itself might provide me with a way to defeat Nimrod?"

Peter couldn't help but scratch his head, and after a moment he gave up on the idea: "But this Shadow Universe hasn't given me any clues."

"Perhaps not in the Shadow Universe, Spider-Man. Don't forget, Earth 811 is a future where Nimrod rises."

Anansi's words puzzled Peter; why was he repeating what he already knew?

"You mean I should go to a future where Nimrod has been defeated and look for... Oh my god, I actually have one."

Peter suddenly realized that he did indeed know a possible future where the Avengers and X-Men would triumph. Earth 928, where Spider-Man 2099 is located, is also a possible future of Earth 616. In that universe, the Avengers won every battle and became legends.

In other words, Earth 928 has a way to deal with Nimrod.

Thinking this through, Peter couldn't help but ask a few more questions to give himself more time to prepare. Anansi, on the other hand, didn't seem to have gotten the questions Peter wanted to ask, so the two of them continued asking questions in a tacit agreement.

"In other words... um... I received a prophecy that I am destined to die..."

"You'd better follow the development of the prophecy. These supernatural things are the most troublesome. Sometimes, when you try to resist the prophecy, you actually bring it to fruition. This is not uncommon."

Anansi rejected Peter's questions about the prophecy, and then asked Anansi a question.

"Okay, then... what about erasure on a real-world level? Do you have any way to help me with that?"

Then, Peter saw Anansi's projection display a very tense expression, as if she was particularly shocked by what Peter had said.

Do you want to listen to what you are saying!
Peter was also helpless. The threat of Kang the Conqueror was imminent, and he had no good way to deal with the Cosmic Cube's ability to modify the universe. More importantly, he could not go to other universes.

After hearing all the limitations, Anansi gave Peter a solution that wasn't really a solution.

"If you can erase yourself from reality before you act in the Cosmic Cube and prepare a way to return in advance, then the Cosmic Cube will not be a problem."

After all, one person can kill a dead person, so in a sense, this is quite invincible.

This gave Peter a lot of room for imagination, and he couldn't help but start thinking about how to do all this.

But Anansi didn't seem to intend to say anything more; his projection began to dissipate, and in the end, he didn't tell Peter who Anasolia really was. Perhaps he could go back and ask Julia Carpenter, the Spider Lady, to see if the old charlatan knew anything else.

"Alright, now it's time to say goodbye to 1933 and head to 2099. Oh, let's go to headquarters first. Miguel said I should go there and take a look."

Peter thought for a moment and then made another decision.

"Before that, let's say goodbye to Spider-Man Noir."
-
The Spider-Man from another universe has left, and Spider-Man Noir has resumed his solo fight against crime, though with some differences. For example, he now possesses the web-shooters that Spider-Man gave him. And he knows he is not alone.

However, perhaps due to a different style, even with the web-shooter, Spider-Man Noir did not choose to swing around like the other Spider-Men.

To him, it was just a tool, like modifying a semi-automatic pistol by attaching a part of it to a web launcher; he still preferred his own style.

In 1933, the United States was still shrouded in the shadow of the Great Depression. The newly elected Franklin D. Roosevelt announced that he would bring the country back to its golden age. Some people expressed their support and expectations, while many others remained pessimistic.

For New Yorkers, it seemed like nothing had changed in the new president’s first year in office: gangs, corrupt police, Spider-Man—it was all the same.

This isn't an era for heroes, Spider-Man Noir thought. Unlike Spider-Man from 2013, in his time, these gangsters were superpowered beings just like him. But in this world, they're just ordinary gangsters.

Perhaps the age of heroes will never come, or perhaps the age of heroes will never exist in this world.

Peter Parker of Earth 90214 casually bought a copy of today's Daily Bugle. Although he was an investigative reporter for the Daily Bugle, it didn't mean he could see his own newspaper in advance.

Today's headlines aren't about Spider-Man anymore, but about the upcoming Stark Expo. Howard Stark, who supposedly suffers from heart disease and requires electrical stimulation to keep his heart beating, has supposedly invented a portable electric pacemaker to help keep his heart functioning. Another scientist claims to be the Frankenstein of this century, boasting that he created a human using compounds and will exhibit it at the expo—utterly arrogant.

There are also reports about the mysterious Waterwalker, but to this day no one has taken a clear photograph of the Waterwalker.

As Peter Parker approached Hell's Kitchen, he heard sounds of fighting nearby. Suspecting it might be a gang war, he went to investigate. He found a group of middle school bullies harassing a thin child, probably only eleven or twelve years old, who was trying to block the bullies' attacks by holding up the top of a trash can.

The group of thugs, who were throwing punches and kicks at each other, heard a deep, steady voice.

"You only bully short people, don't you?"

The group of bullies turned around, saw the tall and burly investigative reporter, shouted, and immediately ran away. Peter went to help the boy up and realized that he was actually fifteen or sixteen years old, but he was as thin as an eleven or twelve-year-old child.

Why don't you run?

“I won’t run away. I can fight like this all day. I’m going to show those bastards that not everyone will be scared away by them.”

The child rubbed his bruised face and saw the camera and press pass hanging on Peter's body: "Thank you, Mr. Reporter, I have to go back to the orphanage... I have to go home."

Peter Parker paused for a moment and asked the boy a question.

"What's your name, child?"

“Rogers, Mr. Reporter, my name is Steve Rogers.”
