Chapter 470 The Truth About Nimrod: Liquid Metal

Chapter 470 The Truth About Nimrod: Liquid Metal

"Then let's put the first question aside for now."

At Avengers Tower, the discussion continued. After Tony passed the question about the X-gene to the X-Men, he asked the second question: "So, where does Nimrod's magic resistance come from?"

“We all know that Nimrod comes from a superadaptor. And superadaptors have no magic resistance. One second they are being beaten up by Spider-Man, Thor, or that little witch, and the next second they become Nimrod and are almost immune to magic.”

Tony then raised the second question: "Of course, we all know there's an upgrade, but what kind of upgrade is it that can do this?"

"So the people in our team who are involved in magic asked magic experts about this issue."

Tony was naturally referring to Peter and Thor, who had brought Wanda to the Sanctum Sanctorum. The roof that Nal had created six months ago had finally been repaired, but that didn't stop Strange from setting up a wicker chair on the rooftop of the Sanctum Sanctorum and sunbathing there.

“I knew you were coming even when you were a kilometer away.”

As Strange opened a portal from the balcony into the hall, sipping a cup of coffee, he looked at Wanda, observed her carefully for a few seconds, and then exclaimed in admiration, "You know what? Miss, for a long time, the magical world believed that chaos magic did not exist, but was merely a mistake in the records of dark magic in the Dark Book. Your existence proves that chaos magic does indeed exist."

"Um...thank you?"

Do you have a tutor, miss?

Wanda paused for a moment, then nodded: "Yes, my father knew a witch named Agatha Agnes..."

Peter saw a clear look of disgust on Strange's face.

“Well, Agatha Agnes. A survivor of the Salem Trials… I must remind you, miss, witchcraft is not the same as magic. Witches believe that magical power originates from their own bloodline. They proudly believe that their bloodline contains endless magical energy, and that they can cast spells using rituals, gestures, bloodlines, symbols, and language.”

"But in reality, their bloodlines usually conceal the power of some demon god, and they don't know the true purpose of magic. In short, you can probably learn how to use the power within you, but you don't know where it comes from."

For some reason, Peter sensed that Strange harbored a deep dislike for witches, not Agatha, so he tentatively asked, "Like the difference between a wizard and a sorcerer in D&D?"

"Reality isn't D&D... but you're right, that's pretty much how it is."

Strange decided to skip the discussion and instead asked Peter and the others why they had come: "If you're not here to find a magic tutor for this young lady, then the Avengers are here because there's a magical problem? And even the Heir of Asgard and the messengers of the Web of Fate couldn't solve it?"

"Yes, wizard, we have encountered a strange scientific creation with strong magical resistance. We need your help."

Strange immediately became interested, opened a portal, and led the three of them to a place resembling an alchemy laboratory. Thor tossed the package he was carrying onto the alchemy table, then opened it. Strange carefully examined the contents, then frowned and said to a novice mage who wasn't present, "Ghost? Is there a problem at Limbo?" The next second, Peter saw Iliana teleport into the laboratory.

"Next time you use that mouth to inform me of Strange..."

“That’s how you use the magic mouth.” Strange interrupted Iliana’s complaint, looked at the test table, and after casting a spell, brought the liquid metal back to life: “Take a closer look and feel if there is promethium in this stuff.”

Promethium? That sounds familiar, but Peter is only familiar with DC's promethium and didn't know Marvel had it.

Iliana crossed her arms and muttered to herself, staring at the liquid metal for a few seconds before nodding decisively: "Yes, it's promethium. How did it end up here?"

Peter suddenly realized: "Uh... wait, so this thing comes from Limbo?"

“Yes, promethium only belongs to the borderlands of hell, usually underground in certain caves, and before it was mined, it was like the heart of a giant animal.” Iliana said, shrugging her shoulders. “Anyway, after Velasco left, no promethium was ever lost.”

"How can you be sure that no one has illegally mined it?"

“Because if promethium leaves Limbo, a part of Limbo will disappear forever, Spider-Man, so the master of Limbo or the Sorcerer Supreme couldn’t possibly be unaware of this.” Strange roughly understood what this thing was: “Limbo represents the Dark Dimension, which is one of the closest to the Living Abyss among countless dimensions, so promethium will exhibit some symbiotic-like characteristics. Of course, they have no life or consciousness.”

"In other words, this is a magical metal similar to the product of the Living Abyss." Thor gradually understood everything: "This also explains why it has magic resistance after a certain degree of modification. Moreover, its structure, similar to the Living Abyss, also gives it great plasticity."

"and many more……"

Peter suddenly thought of a question. He had explained the future and Nimrod to Strange, and then raised his own question: "If that's the case, it means that in the future, Nimrod found a way to reach the Hell's Edge and mined a large amount of promethium to create Nimrod Sentinels. But isn't the Hell's Edge an extra dimension? Why can't Iliana sense it?"

"...Although time in Limbo is not rigid, and many points in its past and future are connected by naturally occurring time rifts, it is still linear time in itself, and its present depends on its master. In other words, if there exists a possible future that includes Iliana as the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo, then there will be two time states of the same Limbo."

Peter didn't quite understand: "Does it mean something like the Limbo version of the multiverse?"

“No.” This time Strange rejected the idea: “It is, scientifically speaking, a quantum superposition state. Until it is confirmed whether the future you mentioned is our future, this future version of Limbo either exists or does not exist.”

"But in any case, you have indeed found the place of origin of this guy named Nimrod. On the border of hell in the possible future."

This book contains a significant amount of fan-created content regarding Nimrod's character, intended for the sake of the plot. Please do not attempt to link it to official Marvel canon.
