Chapter 443 Welcome to the Raft Prison
Chapter 443 Welcome to the Raft Prison
Atlantic Ocean, Raft Prison.
As this mobile prison, belonging solely to the United Nations, approached the Port of London, the supervillain "Sandman" William Baker, who had just been captured and sentenced in a flash, along with several other supervillains arrested in the UK, were sent to the prison. Although Sandman was, to some extent, a magical prisoner, he was not accepted by Kamar-Taj, but instead ended up in the Raft prison.
Now, he was enchanted with a materialization spell, transforming from a spirit into a tangible entity made of sand. He was then bound by shackles and imprisoned in a specially designed cage. The entire cage contained only the sand that made up William.
"Oh, looks like there are new people here again."
A very young-looking man in an orange prison uniform walked over, accompanied by two Ultron robots. After looking William up and down, the man asked curiously, "And who brought you in here?"
"...Spider-Man."
"You're Spider-Man too? That's good. Quite a few people here were brought in by Spider-Man. Let me introduce myself. My name is Bingley Whitman, but my friends call me the Tech Wizard."
“Fortlin Marco, the Sandman, that’s what they call me.”
Neither of them revealed their true identities. Otto Octavia glanced at his new cellmate before being escorted back to his cell by Ultron guards. A few days ago, Raft Prison had sent over a number of formidable figures, with Baron Strucker being the most prominent.
He was also the most dangerous person in the entire raft prison, and was kept in the safest place in the entire prison. Even the prisoners themselves did not know where he was.
On his way back to his cell, Otto sees Ant-Man, Hank Pym, arrive at the prison, as always trying to realize his childish idea of turning the inmates into good people. Well, he might succeed once or twice, but he'll soon realize just how big a mistake he's made.
Otto leisurely returned to his room. Each prisoner's cell appeared closed and independent, but Otto knew that Tony Stark didn't endorse Pym's humanitarian ideas at all. The Raft prison not only had its own self-destruct mechanism, but each cell was also under constant surveillance. Some had attempted to escape, but they all failed.
Good morning, Mr. Whitman.
"Good morning, Dr. Pym." As Otto left, he suddenly asked Pym with a hint of curiosity, "Are you here today to provide psychological counseling to the prisoners as well?"
"Yes, aside from crimes of passion like yours, many people are sent here because they genuinely have psychological problems. We are working to reassure them. For example, the Mole Man, his becoming a supervillain was largely due to his mental health."
Pym left as he spoke. Otto, on the other hand, returned to his cell, and after closing the door, picked up a book and began to read.
He certainly hadn't given up the chance to leave, but he was also very clear that Spider-Man was becoming increasingly powerful, and without sufficient confidence and a well-developed plan, he couldn't defeat him. The prison was a good place, giving him enough time to think about how to defeat Spider-Man and how to correct the genetic defects in his cloned body.
In the afternoon, the prisoners had time to explore the area. As long as they weren't special prisoners, they could move freely under the supervision of the Ultron guards—the so-called special prisoners generally referred to Rhino and Sandman, whose destructive power couldn't be controlled due to their physical limitations and who had to be forcibly detained. Of course, prisoners could also talk to these other prisoners if they wanted.
“So, our Spider-Man has brought in another guy. He’s probably brought in the most people ever.” Otto walked into the prison’s “parade ground,” an area where one could see the sky, but it was an artificial one. Otto was certain that this space, less than 200 meters long and wide, only had a fake sky; the prisoners here only had the right to walk around.
It's said that Pym planned to add some sports equipment for the prisoners, but ultimately canceled it for safety reasons.
What a fool! He thinks he's one of the smartest people on Earth?
Herman, who was chatting with Mysterio Quentin Baker, glanced at Otto. He still didn't recognize the young man in front of him as Doctor Octopus. He just frowned and looked at Quentin: "Who knows? What's wrong? Are you here to preach your 'Spider-Man is evil' theory again?"
"I'm just summarizing our failures, why we got captured by Spider-Man. Take you, Herman, for example. Your equipment isn't perfect. If it hadn't exploded, you could have kept fighting. Of course, your armor also has heat dissipation issues. Spider-Man knows that, otherwise why would he always make a point of comforting you every time he comes to see you?"
Otto chuckled: "Because he knows you haven't reached your full potential."
"And Mysterio. Your surrender is absurd. You actually gave up just because Spider-Man took off his mask? You didn't even see Spider-Man's face. What if he hadn't taken off his mask? What if he was just bluffing you?"
"I...I don't know." Quentin shook his head, asking uncertainly, "It can't be, right?"
“Spider-Man is a terrifying enemy, otherwise how could he have captured so many people? He must be a master psychologist who is extremely good at studying the psychology of his enemies. Your illusions are almost invincible, Quentin, but Spider-Man has grasped your psychological weakness and defeated you in an instant. He is too terrifying.”
One advantage of achieving enlightenment in prison is that you have many comrades-in-arms who have similar experiences. The more people Spider-Man captures, the more Doctor Octopus understands Spider-Man and marvels at what a troublesome opponent he is.
Unfortunately, he was destined to be a stumbling block to his revenge against Osborn. The conflict between them only intensified after Osborn's genetically modified spiders were discovered to be a cure for ALS.
So no matter how terrifying he is, I must find a way to defeat him.
As Otto was thinking this, accompanied by a burst of angry curses, they all turned around at the same time and saw Scorpion, Mike Gagan, being pushed in a wheelchair by Ultron and cursing all the way.
Otto added sarcastically.
"Poor Mike, because he found a clue to Spider-Man's true identity, his spine was torn off and his brain was mashed into mush by the telepath, leaving him half mentally disabled."
