Chapter 374 The Daily News of the Raid!

Chapter 374 The Daily News of the Raid!

Phil Ulrich has a secret: he's a superhero.

The story begins about two weeks ago. Like everyone else, he received a metal sphere. A man named Kang the Conqueror told him that in the future, he would become the superhero Green Goblin Knight by injecting the Green Goblin Serum, but in the more distant future, he would become the villainous Evil Demon due to the side effects of the serum. However, due to a deviation in history, his original fate was changed, and that's why Kang sent him this metal sphere.

Like everyone else, Phil called the police to explain the situation from the beginning, but when the police arrived, they didn't say anything. They didn't even take the ball away. They just said that he was overthinking things and making up stories to increase the workload of the police.

Phil was stunned and kept the item until later, when he encountered a robbery—several armed robbers were robbing a convenience store. At that moment, Phil wondered whether he should help.

If you could become a superhero, but the price was that you would spend the rest of your life as a mentally unstable madman, what would you choose?

Phil didn't know that anyone needed help, so he did. He injected the serum in a secluded corner, covered his face with the high collar and hood of his jacket, and stopped the robbery.

Later, he encountered a higher-ups in the group of robbers, who turned out to be subordinates of a New York mob. This mob was more powerful and less humane. Phil, who now possessed superpowers, was not afraid of them, but what about his parents and Uncle Ben?
That's right, Phil's uncle is also named Ben, Benjamin Ulrich, the Daily Bugle's best investigative reporter.

Therefore, Phil Ullrick chose to conceal his identity from his family, and he dared not use the pumpkin bombs and gliders that clearly bore the hallmarks of Osborn technology. Before today, he had never used those terrifying weapons of mass destruction, until he encountered the Fairy King's goblin army.

Phil panicked. He had only seen in Kang's videos that he would become a villain called the Devil, but he didn't know how terrible the enemy was. Only today did he realize that the other party was a complete mental patient!
Will I become like that?

Realizing things were going terribly wrong, Phil made up his mind to stop himself from becoming like that. He wanted to talk to his Uncle Ben, and if necessary, go to the Avengers to see if he could take back the power he gained from the serum injection.

With this in mind, Phil carried a box back to the office and heard Jonah's roar from afar. He was yelling at Spider-Man again because Jonah felt that Spider-Man's violent capture of Roderick was unnecessary and showed Spider-Man's violent nature.

"Anyone can see Roderick is a bastard. He's such a good actor, it's like he knew we were coming all along. Our investigation was going so well, we could have used Roderick's contempt for us to get even more information out of him! Now look what's happened! I don't believe these vigilantes can get anything useful out of Roderick!"

Jonah was yelling and shouting in great dissatisfaction, while Benjamin Yurik, who heard all this, just shrugged: "But they know telepaths, so maybe they'll choose to read minds to get enough information."

"Mind reading? This is a trampling on citizens' right to privacy! And this kind of thing cannot be used as formal evidence in court at all!"

Jonah roared, while Benjamin simply smiled. Phil said, "Make way," and carried the things in: "Excuse me, Mr. Jameson, these are what you requested, some materials about Roderick and that Mr. Hamilton, mostly from magazines that mention them."

“Very well, Yurik.” Jonah simply nodded, then continued grumbling about another matter: “Furthermore, why Roderick was prepared for the Daily Bugle’s sudden interview needs to be thoroughly investigated. There must be a mole within the Daily Bugle! I absolutely will not allow such an employee to exist among my staff!”

Phil nodded quickly, but then suddenly noticed that the intern, Mary Jane Watson, was staring out the window, seemingly lost in thought.

But he didn't remain in a daze. "Mr. Jameson, there's a... situation outside?"

Jameson nonchalantly retorted, "What's going on, Watson? Is it some superhero brawl again?"

"No, it looks like...it looks like goblins are charging towards us!"

Goblin?
Everyone thought of the crazy goblin army from this morning. Jonah reacted almost immediately, shouting "Get down!" and then hid under the table, crouching down with his hands on his head in defense.

Unlike Hamilton's portrayal of the Fairy King, the AI Green Goblin didn't make a big fuss or deliberately cause trouble. Therefore, before attacking the Daily Bugle, he didn't appear on television or make a phone call to inform the media.

All he had to do was steal a suitable body, a body that hadn't been noticed by the Avengers.

Mary Jane quickly hid to the side, first closing her eyes and waiting for the goblin's pumpkin bomb to fall, but it seemed that the goblin was arriving a little later. Mary Jane, who was hiding behind the flower bed by the wall, opened her eyes and saw the goblin rushing towards her on a flying skateboard, getting closer and closer.

Then, she saw golden sparks appear in front of her, followed by a golden portal opening. Spider-Man, dressed in black, stepped out, glanced at her, and walked to the floor-to-ceiling glass facade, shattering it with a single punch. At that very moment, Green Goblin outside threw a pumpkin bomb inside, which was caught in a web, causing the fireball to burn in mid-air outside the building.

Then, he used a spider silk to stick the goblin outside, pulled it directly into the Daily Bugle building, slammed it against the wall, and then bound it with a spider web.

“You’re alright.” Mary Jane said to Spider-Man after seeing him, then walked to Jonah’s desk and flipped it aside. “Hello, Mr. Jameson.”

"Oh, uh, Spider-Man? Why did you smash my table?!"

“Sorry, I haven’t been in a good mood these past few days.” Spider-Man clearly didn’t want to explain further, and simply asked, “Who is Phil Ulrich? I need to pick him up to Avengers Tower.”

“That’s my nephew.” Benjamin Ulrich stepped forward first and asked Spider-Man, “Why are you taking him away?”

"He also received the metal ball that would allow him to become the Green Goblin. In fact, he was a candidate for the Green Goblin serum and also a target for the Green Goblin to capture."

Just before Peter was about to say the next word, he heard Jonah roar.

"You were the mole! Yurik!"
