I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 348 Tech Wizard
Chapter 348 Tech Wizard
"Someone committed a crime on the first day of the new year? I know there's an old saying that a new year brings new beginnings, but please, don't start a new crime, okay?"
On New Year's Day in Manhattan, the Citibank vault was robbed by a brand-new supervillain named Bingley Whitman, who called himself a tech wizard with no particular superpowers. His main ability was controlling several flying discs that could create gravitational fields, all controlled by a telepathic helmet.
Of course, this means he can also fly.
"Don't stop me, Spider-Man, I control gravity!"
The young scientist, who looked to be no more than twenty-four or twenty-five years old, roared, "If you come any closer, I'll crush you with dozens of times the force of gravity."
"If you were called the King of Ten Thousand Powers instead of the Tech Wizard, perhaps I would consider it for a couple of seconds."
Peter chased after his opponent while swinging on his webs, attempting to stick a web to the frisbee beneath its feet. However, the frisbee suddenly veered, releasing a powerful gravitational pull that drew Peter in. Peter remained calm; the moment he got close, Venom released tentacles to shatter the object, and Peter immediately gave chase.
"So, you're a scientist, then why don't you go to Stark Industries or Baxter Tower for research funding? I mean, you've already created a product that can be used for crimes, why do you still need to rob people? Wouldn't it be better to just register a patent and then attract investment?"
"Osborne, you stole my patent!"
The immense repulsive force sent Spider-Man flying. Peter flew backward, shooting out webs from both hands, which stuck to the buildings on either side. Using the elasticity of the webs and the repulsive force of the anti-gravity device, he stretched the webs to their limit, then launched himself out like a slingshot, arriving next to the Tech Wizard and taking flight with his glider.
"Okay, it's Osborne again. How about we talk about something else? For example, I've been thinking about a question lately. If someone enters a space where the flow of time is different from the outside world, how would their age be calculated? I'm not talking about a biological question, but a social one. Do you think the government system would allow them to reach adulthood early and buy alcohol at a convenience store?"
"shut up!"
"Okay, okay, shut up, shut up. I'm practically a shut-up hero."
Peter pursed his lips. He hadn't originally planned to think about this question, but the fact that Iliana had transformed from a sensible 12-year-old girl into a volatile 15-year-old in just one day on the frontier made him start to ponder it.
Of course, he wasn't just pondering such trivial questions; Peter was also keeping a close eye on what might happen in the future. As far as Peter knew, if the timeline overlapped with the MCU, AIM might choose to kill the current president, Ellis, but he was rather skeptical that this would actually happen.
After all, the entire timeline is already a complete mess, and the story of Iron Man 3 may not happen again.
Of course, Tony is already investigating AIM, since AIM is a purely villainous organization in most universes. However, considering that AIM is now a partner of the Pentagon and the behind-the-scenes sponsor and logistical supporter of the Avengers, the investigation is more difficult.
And then there's Kang, who's trying to change fate, turning the people the Avengers originally intended to stop from becoming villains back into villains.
Peter couldn't help but wonder what Kang was planning to do.
Of course, the more important thing now is to capture the tech guy and get back the tens of millions of dollars he stole. "So, why don't you put the dollars back now, and then think about the patent issue? Maybe you'll find out that Osborn Technologies actually let you off the hook and gave your technology back or something?"
As Peter spoke, he used symbiotes instead of spider silk to stick to several gravity disks. The instantaneous accumulation of gravity caused the symbiote tentacles to change. However, symbiotes are molecular organisms, and as long as the gravity is strong enough to deform the molecular structure, it cannot stop them.
Peter then easily crushed half of the Technician's equipment.
But then, countless discs flew over, trying to grab Peter. They flew at extremely high speeds, appearing in all directions around Peter and applying massive gravity in different directions in an attempt to tear Peter's body apart. Peter did not intend to dodge, but just watched as the technologists tried to escape.
"Haha, Spider-Man, just wait to be torn apart by gravity!"
"First of all, this gravity can't tear me apart. How many times stronger is it now? Five times stronger? Second, I don't plan to move just because it's unnecessary."
Peter smiled and said, "After all, you only have two discs left, one supporting yourself and the other holding your money."
The scientist paused for a moment, seemingly only then noticing what had happened. A spider silk thread stuck to the disc beneath his feet, pulling it away and causing the scientist to plummet from the sky. He was then stuck to the spider silk and pressed against the wall of the high-rise building.
Then the disc holding tens of millions of dollars began to collapse, and tens of millions of dollars fell from the sky. Peter quickly pulled himself out of the gravitational field, leaped into the air, and kept shooting out spider silk. Before all the dollars fell, he caught them all in his web, turning them into a giant cocoon.
“Hundreds of pounds of US dollars are just flying in the air like that. If you’re not careful, they could crush a few people to death.” Peter, who was squatting on the wall holding tens of millions of US dollars, looked at Cindy who had come to help and was slightly surprised: “Thank you for coming, Cindy.”
“S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t had much training these past few days, so I saw you on the news and came over.”
Peter wasn't entirely sure if he'd actually seen it on the news, but he wasn't going to dwell on it. He simply called the NYPD, telling them to come and collect the man and the money. Meanwhile, the tech wizard stuck to the wall was still venting his frustration: "Spider-Man, if you hadn't used your nonsense to get my attention, you wouldn't have been able to..."
"That's called tactics, scientist."
Peter used a web to stick the tech wizard's mouth shut, and soon an armored transport vehicle carrying money arrived. At the same time, a police car also appeared, and Inspector George Stacy got out of the car and looked at the two Spider-Men.
"Thank you for your help, Spider-Man, and... the NYPD needs your help."
As Sheriff Stacy was speaking, Peter jumped down from the building and asked, "What happened? Something's wrong?"
"It's very troublesome. We encountered a special case where the person who called the police said they had received supernatural equipment, but when the police arrived, there was no one at the scene, only traces of an explosion."
