Chapter 295 Osborn Military Technology Exhibition
Chapter 295 Osborn Military Technology Exhibition
Time flew by and December 2012 arrived. Well, not exactly rushed, but all in all, aside from spending two more days out with Gwen or Cindy, both Peter Parker and Spider-Man spent the rest of the year in a very uneventful way.
It was so ordinary it was almost unbelievable.
Whether it's Doctor Octopus, who's on the run, or Mr. Ominous, who's got his hands on the gene-editing device, they both seem to have vanished without a trace. There are only minor criminal activities in New York City. World peace is certainly a good thing, but it's strange that there's still world peace even knowing someone's causing trouble.
The calm before the storm—Peter was pretty sure these guys were up to something in the shadows, he just didn't know what they were up to.
And so, December arrived, and it was time for the Osborn Technology visit.
"Do you think Norman Osborn might be planning another Spider-Man movie, so he organized another tour?"
Before arriving at Osborn Technologies, Gwen asked Peter a rather curious question, leaving the latter speechless. He certainly believed that Osborn Technologies wanted to create a brand new Spider-Man to prove that their Savage Power project had been a complete success, but the problem was that neither Dr. Connors nor Dr. Jonathan had yet solved the problem of contamination caused by excess genes in genetic programming. For most people, genetic modification would not grant them superpowers.
Turning into a monster like Cal King is considered lucky; most people would likely just die.
"All I can tell you is not to overthink it. And the person in charge of the Super Soldier project right now is Dr. Connors, whose favorite subject is lizards. You just don't want to get bitten and become a Lizard Woman."
Gwen imagined herself as a lizard man or something like a crocodile man and felt a chill run down her spine. As the two were talking, the bus arrived at the basement of the Osborn Technologies building, and students filed out.
Harry didn't come because he was still quite dissatisfied with his father. Amadeus didn't come either; he had taken a lot of leave these past few days, basically just enough to maintain his minimum credit requirement. Apparently, Hercules needed a guide, so he took Old Zhao away.
Even Cindy didn't come today; it seems S.H.I.E.L.D. had some business to attend to and called her away as well.
So Peter relaxed halfway.
"Welcome to Osborn Technologies. I am Norman Osborn, Chairman of Osborn Technologies."
Whether it was unexpected or not, Norman actually took charge of receiving the students himself. He appeared on the roof of the building in a suit and tie, and solemnly led the children into the newly decorated Osborne Building. Today, the lobby of the Osborne Building was set up as an exhibition area, displaying a large number of Osborne Technology products.
However, this time, there were no radiated spiders, and no genetically modified creatures at all, in the exhibition area.
It seems Osborne has no intention of causing any more surprises...
Peter was thinking this and was about to go in when Gwen took his hand and then blinked innocently. Peter could only smile and lead Gwen into the hall to look around for anything new and interesting.
Somewhat surprisingly, despite being a science and technology exhibition aimed at students, most of the products on display were actually from the military industry. Osborn Technologies doesn't produce weapons, but it provides a large amount of battlefield support equipment, including the latest drones, new exoskeleton powered armor, and a range of other high-tech devices.
Peter even saw the new generation of floating platform with the vulture's wings brushed off—presumably the future Green Goblin's floating platform, if there is still a Green Goblin in the future. At least for now, Osborn seems to be in good mental health!
"Is this the style of Osborn Tech?" Gwen muttered curiously. This was completely different from what she and Peter had seen when they visited the Osborn Tech exhibition nine months ago. Peter nodded as they walked, agreeing that this was indeed not like the Osborn style.
The main point is, why are you showing this stuff to a group of high school students, especially American high school students? Are you expecting these kids to join the military? Or are you expecting them to work in the defense industry? There's no sense of honor in joining the American military...
Peter continued walking, muttering to himself. He stood in front of Osborn Technologies' new powered armor display case, looking at the scene with a strange feeling, before suddenly realizing something.
perhaps……
"What's wrong? You look so worried."
"I just find it strange that this seemingly impromptu technology exhibition is trying to grab my attention, but Osborne didn't ask me to discuss anything. It's like he has something he wants to talk to me about, but doesn't want to be seen in public."
It was very strange; Norman Osborn was hiding something, which was the only answer Peter could think of.
So... you're going to work?
"I'm not sure, please wait a moment."
Peter excused himself to the restroom and then called Harry, who was killing time at the Spiderweb Base. Norman's behavior today was strange—hosting a science fair that was completely unsuitable for high school students, inviting him here, and not contacting him at all, only showing his face at the beginning. He planned to go to Norman to ask about the situation, but first, he wanted Harry to find out what his old man had been up to lately.
"Hey Peter, what's going on at the technology exhibition?"
"I suspect your dad wants to talk to me about something, but he's afraid to say it outright. There might be something going on behind his back. Could you help me investigate?"
Harry hesitated for a moment on the other end of the phone.
"Are you serious? The computers at Spiderweb Base were provided by Osborn Technologies. They won't find anything about my dad, will they?"
"I switched to the Avengers system a long time ago, and Jarvis is directly connected."
After discovering that Norman had hidden information about the Vultures, Peter began to replace the underlying computer system of Spiderweb with the Avengers' system, although it was still wrapped in an Auburn Tech shell. When Harry heard that he could investigate his father, he immediately became excited: "Then you wait, I'll find out for you right away."
Peter hung up the phone, somewhat speechless. He then sent a message to Gwen saying he had to do some Spider-Man work, before becoming invisible. He then donned the symbiote suit and began crawling towards Norman Osborn's office.
