Chapter 293 Giving the World Armor
Chapter 293 Giving the World Armor
An hour after Electro disappeared, Tony Stark and the New York City government, having confirmed there was no abnormal electrical activity, restarted New York's power supply. As per the previous agreement, the entire second half of 2012 was supplied with electricity from Stark Industries' five large arc reactors, and residents received free electricity.
This is a good opportunity to investigate whether there is any electricity theft or leakage, and to see if there are any strange laboratories or anything like that in this crappy place called New York. We can take them all down at once.
Of course, Tony will still charge for industrial electricity, such as that of companies like Osborn Technologies and Warren. At worst, he can offset part of the electricity costs by using the losses these companies suffered last night. It's impossible to have it completely free for a month and a half.
"So, although we may have lost tens of millions of dollars in one night, we successfully took down a supervillain. The only downside is that this guy's need for electricity is like that of a drug addict; he would rather self-destruct than be caught."
Tony explained the situation and laughed quite happily. He hadn't dared to come to Manhattan for several hours, but now he was finally able to relax a bit. Only when he was with the Avengers did his uncontrollable anxiety, which had started during the Battle of New York, ease somewhat.
In this place, even without wearing his armor, he can maintain a sense of security and self-control.
"So, my mission is over." Pietro felt a pang of nostalgia for his brief time as a superhero. Although there was no applause or cheers, having a place to run towards with a purpose was still very important. However, neither Tony nor Captain America could do anything about this, since Pietro really did have a powerful father, and Kenosha didn't have diplomatic relations with the United States, or rather, Kenosha wasn't recognized by most parts of the world.
"Okay, come visit more often when you have time, especially Spider-Man. I'm sure Kenosha would welcome you, not just me."
Pietro smiled knowingly, then immediately left. Watching a silver lightning bolt disappear swiftly, the captain mused, "Perhaps we really should have a few mutants in our team; that would greatly improve their treatment."
“Yes, but more importantly, we need to expand further. T'Challa doesn’t usually come to New York, and Janet was already one of us, so in the last six months we’ve only had Spider-Man as a newcomer.”
Tony, also a leader of the Avengers, frowned. He had received a message from Nick Fury that the Thunder Force had also undergone a recruitment drive. It's unclear what Fury was thinking, but he specifically looked at the Thunder Force roster from the wasteland world for recruitment, recruiting Astra, the thief who stole Pym Particles; the tech criminal mechanic (Repairman); Moonstone, whose abilities were similar to Ms. Marvel's; Mach (Beetle), who developed his own flight suit; and Singingbird, who used sonic abilities.
Fury is quite funny. Knowing that this group betrayed him in a parallel universe, causing the superheroes to be wiped out, and that he himself has a bunch of Hydras at home, he still recruited this group. I wonder what his plans are.
Tony then turned to Peter: "Peter, you know quite a few friends with superpowers, what are your thoughts?"
"Hercules or Marvel, sorry, I'm a little sleepy..."
"You can go home if you're tired."
“According to the schedule, I’m still on a business trip and doing an internship. Theoretically, I won’t be able to get to New York until tomorrow at the earliest.” Peter yawned helplessly. Tony was taken aback for a moment, then smiled helplessly: “Okay, kid, there are guest rooms in the building. You can make do here for the night. Go and get some rest.”
After Peter went to his guest room to rest, the captain looked up at Tony, who was standing there, and asked, "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine... What's wrong?"
“You look nervous, Tony, like something’s wrong,” the captain asked with concern. “If you need anything from me, just let me know.” “I’m fine, Steve, it’s just that…” Tony started to say, but then realized what he was asking the captain and quickly asked, “Steve, what if you’re preparing for war, but you’re not ready yet, and the war starts?”
"So you're worried that we're not prepared to face what kind of enemy?"
"I'm just asking, what if, what if it happens?"
"If war has taught me anything, it's that you're never prepared for war. War always presents all sorts of situations, and even the side with the advantage or the certainty of victory will encounter all sorts of troubles." Steve looked at Tony and continued, "If you're talking about how to gain more preparation time, holding the line, buying time for the rear, protecting the industrial center—I guess those things all exist in the history of war."
Tony simply nodded; he had an idea.
As his armor underwent continuous iterations, Jarvis also upgraded, leading Tony to consider using Jarvis as the central hub to command the Iron Legion. He already knew that in a parallel universe, Ultron would break free from the shackles imposed by humanity, surpassing limits to become an enemy of the Avengers and humanity. Therefore, Tony and Hank neither intended to over-develop Ultron, and also prevented Hank from using his brainwaves to upgrade Ultron.
But what if... we used Jarvis?
Using Jarvis would greatly ensure safety. Tony was confident that Jarvis wouldn't betray him, and he wouldn't set overly high goals for Jarvis, as long as it could control all the armors of the Iron Legion.
After thinking it over, Tony sighed, then forced a smile: "Thanks, it's really nice to have an elder in the family, isn't it?"
"I'm not an old man... I'm just a little out of touch with your times."
"So, would you like me to build you a suit of armor while I'm at it? Iron Patriot?"
The captain shook his head. Although the enemies they faced were indeed growing stronger and he was finding it increasingly difficult to keep up, he still hoped to go directly to the battlefield. The spiritual significance of Captain America outweighed his actual combat abilities; Steve Rogers stepping onto the battlefield was the most important thing.
"We fight side by side, united as one, and that's how we confront any enemy."
Tony looked at the captain and asked the question.
"What if we can't win and we lose?"
"Then we'll lose together."
The captain looked at Tony: "Or, like our team's name, go for revenge."
The Sinister Six and the Evil Six are just different translations; I prefer to call them the Sinister Six.
