Chapter 282 Magneto's Plan
While the new mutants were out sightseeing, and Wanda was showing Peter around Kenosha, Logan followed Magneto into his palace. Magneto, clearly aware of Logan's personality, waved his hand, and a hole appeared in the palace hall floor like hot water melting ice. The removed metal floor turned into a staircase that led downwards. Logan glanced at the ground, puzzled as to why Magneto was creating this illusion.

But he still followed Magneto down the stairs.

“I know you have a lot of questions, Logan, feel free to ask, I won’t refuse to answer them.”

Magneto spoke as he walked down the steps. Logan frowned. He actually had many questions he wanted to ask, but for now, he should ask the most important questions first.

Are you sure the gene editing device is safe?

"Yes, you'll see it soon, along with the other items that need to be preserved."

What other items need to be preserved?

Logan, bewildered, had a very bad feeling. As he descended the steps, an unexpected behemoth came into view—the head of a massive Sentinel robot, over fifty meters tall. After a moment of shock, Logan's expression turned to rage: "You put the prototype underground in your country? A Sentinel manufacturing plant programmed to kill all mutants, placed under the feet of 1600 million mutants?!"

"Trasters has the technology to analyze the X gene without DNA sample testing, and the Mother is the only one capable of performing this genetic testing on such a large scale. We use this as an important way to identify criminals. You don't need to worry about it, Logan, we've reprogrammed it, and it will no longer be an enemy of mutants. Besides, no matter how powerful the Mother is, she's still just a piece of metal."

The same confidence and arrogance from before resurfaced in Magneto's words. Logan frowned and continued forward, but what kept appearing made his eyes widen. The wreckage of drones developed by Hammer Technology, which had appeared at the Stark Expo, and the Chitauri weapons from the Battle of New York, were numerous. Thousands of these pieces of equipment were neatly stacked together.

Not to mention the large quantities of ordinary weapons.

"You're planning to start a war?!"

"Start a war? If I intended to start a war, I would have done it long ago. I have been doing this for the past few decades, waging war against humanity. But after Charles died, I realized one thing: it was all pointless."

Magneto looked at Logan and directly refuted his speculation: "Remember William Stryker, Logan? His hatred for mutants reached the point where he wanted to exterminate them, and the source of this hatred was nothing. His family wasn't harmed by mutants, and his friends didn't die because of mutants. Even when he and his wife had a mutant son, it didn't eliminate his hatred; instead, it intensified it."

"Mutants don't need to prove to the world that they are a superior race, Logan. Humans have long recognized this, and they don't need me to instill fear in them; they will be afraid on their own."

Logan wasn't going to listen to Magneto's nonsense and pointed directly at the huge pile of weapons and the prototype that could create an endless number of Sentinel robots: "What about these things? Are they confiscated illegal weapons that you've controlled? Is Kenosha enacting a gun control law?"

"This is for the war, Logan."

"You just said you weren't planning to start a war."

"I am preparing for war, not preparing to start a war." Magneto finally revealed his plan: "Imagine what people would think when someone who can frighten the world with just a dozen or so mutants announces his plan to build a peaceful nation? What would you think? What would everyone think when that nation has a population of over ten million mutants?"

"When this country keeps sending mercenaries to war-torn regions, what will everyone think? Of course, it's all just for money." Magneto smiled at Logan. What would happen?

A war will break out.

“In the past, most mutants would not fight back even if they were discriminated against, because they were content to live, because they could survive, because for the huge mutant population of nearly 20 million, the number of human experiments, massacres, and tragedies was so small and so far away.”

"But if I first give mutants a utopia, and then humans go to war against Genoa, all mutants will realize that humans will not allow mutants to live. At that time, 16 million mutants will become warriors fighting for their own survival. And since humans started the war, no one will believe that humans and mutants can coexist peacefully. It will only be a fight to the death."

Charles Xavier believed in humanity, and in the reason why mutants and humans had a reason to work together, until his death.

Eric Lansheer once distrusted humanity, believing that humans and mutants were destined to be unable to coexist peacefully. For this reason, he always advocated striking first, until Charles died.

He hadn't changed his mind, but he laid down his weapon, handed the gun to the human, and waited for the other to fire the first shot.

He was convinced that humanity would fire the first shot.

"What if the war hadn't come, Magneto?"

Logan walked up to Magneto and stared at him. Magneto maintained his smile: "Are you looking forward to war, Wolverine?"

"I'll ask you about your plans again."

"Let's start with countries that don't discriminate against mutants, like those in Africa or India, where they believe mutants are incarnations of gods. Countries like Russia or the East, where they don't believe in such beliefs, will also be good. Mutants can have the same legal rights as other citizens, and I will encourage them to marry and have children locally, leaving behind more offspring. When these countries have more and more mutants, and more superior mutant scientists, mutant armies, and mutant politicians..."

"In order to catch up, the lagging party must either wage war or change itself."

Regardless of which scenario, Magneto wins.

There is only one question that needs to be answered.

"And what if you lose, Eric?"

Logan called out Magneto's name for the first time: "What if you're confident you'll win this war and you lose it?"
