I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 259 Calm and Composed
Chapter 259 Calm and Composed
Today is a beautiful day. Puerto Rico is sunny and warm. While the Caribbean may be unbearably hot in the summer, it is definitely a great place to visit in the fall and winter.
"So, where should we go first?"
Gwen looked at Peter with a hint of anticipation. Peter opened his mouth wide, but in the end, he left the decision to Gwen: "You decide. I'm fine with anything."
Gwen suspected that Peter's current predicament was largely due to his "I'll do anything" attitude. She could only shrug helplessly and then let Peter follow her into the mall. Actually, Gwen didn't plan to buy anything; she simply didn't have anywhere else to go besides the mall.
How about we go see a movie? That feels a bit too cliché.
Gwen walked ahead, looked around, and stopped after a moment's thought. Peter, who was following behind her, also stopped. Gwen didn't use her new ability to become a "ghost" because Peter was genuinely worried that her ability might go out of control. To safely test Gwen's ability, he probably would have to find the X-Men.
So basically, as soon as Gwen stopped, Peter stopped too.
"What's wrong?" Peter looked at Gwen, who had stopped, somewhat bewildered. Gwen, on the other hand, glared at Peter and asked, "Are you planning to follow me like this the whole way?"
"What?" Peter looked at Gwen, somewhat bewildered. "No, is it not okay? I'm sorry?"
“If you apologize again, Peter, I’ll take you on a drop tower, and then I’ll disappear before we get on.” Gwen grabbed Peter’s hand angrily. “So, don’t make me angry, smart boy.”
"Ok."
Peter sighed as Gwen grabbed his hand. Even though Gwen called him a smart kid, he still didn't know what to do on a date.
San Juan is a city with distinct divisions. Just as Manhattan has the bustling but crowded Lower Manhattan and the Midtown and Upper Manhattan with streets cut into blocks, San Juan is also divided into two very different parts: a new town with skyscrapers and an old town.
Gwen led Peter to the old town, situated on two small islands in the harbor. It boasts numerous ancient buildings, including many castles and churches left behind by the colonists. Now, all traces of the past have vanished, leaving only these buildings as tourist attractions.
"Wait a moment, stand here."
Peter took out his camera and took a few pictures of Gwen. While taking the pictures, Gwen suddenly asked curiously, "Do you think these pictures will still be there if I activate my power?"
"First of all, let's not talk about your abilities. Secondly, you're very photogenic."
Gwen was wearing a black turtleneck sweater and a navy blue knee-length straight skirt. To keep warm, she wore a green trench coat. She leaned against the battlements, with the endless blue of the Caribbean Sea behind her.
The weather was also very nice. It wasn't completely cloudless, but the clouds were quite thin, like milk poured into a bathtub, scattering white fluff across the sky.
Peter snapped a picture as he spoke, and Gwen quickly came over, looked at herself in the photo, and nudged Peter with her elbow: "You took really good pictures, come on, let me take a few for you."
Gwen fiddled with the camera for a bit, then pressed the shutter. Looking at the photo, which was far inferior to the one Peter had taken, she couldn't help but stick out her tongue. Then, she simply put her arm around Peter's, took out her phone, and took a selfie with him. This method suited her best.
"Alright, hurry up, we still have many places to go."
Peter felt slightly odd, because in his memory, museums and historical sites weren't the kinds of places Gwen liked. It was really strange that she chose these places for a date.
"Is it possible that this is a place you like?" "No, I prefer labs and things like that."
But there's no laboratory here.
Okay, then this kind of place might be my second favorite place.
Peter sighed with a hint of melancholy and continued walking with Gwen. The Puerto Rican History Museum was also located in the white building of El Moro Castle, a famous local castle. Gwen took his hand and walked into the museum, asking uncertainly, "So, could you give me a brief introduction? What about the collections here?"
“I don’t know much about this history, but… I’ll try my best.”
I think you can say whatever you want, since she's not interested in any of that stuff.
How do you know so much about Venom?
I can watch TV while you sleep. Trust me, I can do it.
Peter laughed awkwardly. He wasn't really familiar with this part of history. He just talked about it based on the information signs on the museum exhibits and what he knew. But perhaps this had some unexpected effects. During the chat, Peter gradually relaxed. The two of them held hands and toured the entire museum before coming out of the castle.
They were supposed to have a day for their date, but it wasn't really. Although Carol was still unconscious, the school visit still had to go on, leaving them only a morning. Peter figured it was about time, so he planned to take Gwen to the new town to find a restaurant. As they walked on the bridge, looking at the Caribbean Sea, Gwen suddenly sighed, "What a pity it's November, otherwise I could have brought my swimsuit."
"Don't you only wear one-piece swimsuits? Uncle George won't let you buy other types of swimsuits."
Gwen chuckled twice, then suddenly remembered something and looked at Peter: "What do you think my dad's reaction would be if, I mean if, we actually started dating?"
"I'm a little hesitant to guess."
Gwen smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear. Perhaps everyone in New York liked Spider-Man, but to those around Peter Parker, he was definitely someone else's kid, and Peter himself seemed completely oblivious. If she were to date Peter, Sheriff George would probably be dancing with joy.
Okay, Gwen, there's one last thing to do on the date, and that's not about eating.
"Peter?"
Peter, who was suddenly called, was put in Gwen's arms around his neck. Seeing Gwen immediately press herself against him, a few seconds later, Gwen looked at Peter and asked the question she had been wanting to ask the most.
Do you feel disgusted?
"……Do not."
"Okay, shall we do it again?"
"……good?"
I thought I could write about both dates in one chapter, but it turns out I couldn't.
My review of The New Superman: A 7.5-8 out of 10. It couldn't save the superhero movie from its decline. It was quite good, although there were many flaws. The story was simple, and once you got into it, the emotional release was very effective.
