Chapter 254 Marvel's Perfect World
Chapter 254 Mar-Vell's Perfect World
Captain Marvel Mar-Vell's perfect world is a world that no one knows, not even Peter Parker—the reason is very simple: the original Captain Marvel died very early in the comics, so he knows almost nothing about the character. His biggest knowledge is that in some parallel universe, he died a terrible death and became the lesion of the infamous cancerous universe.
However, as it stands now, there seems to be nothing more than a vast expanse of laboratories and various experimental facilities.
"This place is giving me the creeps. Who knows where that damn Kang is hiding?" Rocket grumbled as he carried the massive gun that matched his size. This place reminded him of the damned Supreme Evolution laboratory, and he wished he could just blow it up.
Meanwhile, Gwen seemed quite excited and darted up to the ceiling, crawling in the shadows. Peter sighed helplessly and decided to follow. Cindy shot out her webs at the same time and said with a slightly puzzled expression.
"She seems unusually excited."
"It must be because of the symbiote. Gwen was really looking forward to getting superpowers, and the symbiote exacerbated the situation."
Peter sighed helplessly. This wasn't a problem with Venom, but with the symbiote species. Symbiotes amplify the host's original emotions, which was why Gwen was so agitated and didn't want to give up the symbiote suit.
Of course, the main reason is that Peter wasn't so determined to retrieve the suit inside the Soul Stone's pocket universe; otherwise, he could have just called Venom and it would have returned on its own.
Only Reed looked thoughtfully at the surrounding laboratories. A scientist's character can be seen from his deepest desires and the research methods he employs. If he could confirm Mar-Vell's research direction and objectives here, he could also determine whether Mar-Vell was friend or foe.
“These things look like biological petri dishes, no, more accurately, plant petri dishes.” Reed’s mind wandered back and forth between the various petri dishes, then bounced back to itself: “So far, I don’t see anything that violates common sense or morality.”
“You’d better not judge other civilizations by Earth’s moral standards. Different civilizations have different styles and customs. Some civilizations may seem evil to other civilizations.” Gamora walked past Reed. “I’ve seen some races where the funeral involves devouring the corpses of the dead. Later, some self-important guys tried to ‘civilize’ this civilization, only to find out that they were a more advanced civilization with technology several eras ahead of them.”
"Perhaps that is true, but if Dr. Mar-Vell were to live on Earth now, he would probably have to adapt to Earth's values."
Susan offered an explanation, but Gamora didn't continue. They were simply searching for Kang the Conqueror. Adam was now acting as a human radar, responsible for sensing Kang's presence. The group continued onward and arrived at a more open area where news was being broadcast. The strange, incomprehensible language quickly transformed into a language that everyone could understand.
"The Kree Empire and the Skrull Empire have reached a permanent peace agreement, with both sides promising not to wage war for any purpose again..."
Mar-Vell, now reverted to his blue-skinned alien form, hummed an unknown song as he adjusted the living environment for the plants in his lab. Hearing footsteps, he turned around and, seeing the group, seemed unsurprised, simply smiling and saying, "Hello, friends. I'm simulating the environment of their home planet for the different plants in the lab. It's beautiful here, isn't it?"
Following Mar-Vell's gaze, everyone then realized that this laboratory was part of a huge space station, where Mar-Vell was enjoying the scenery of the universe, cultivating plants from different worlds, and leisurely staying here.
Gwen jumped down from the ceiling, scratching the back of her head in confusion.
"May I ask your age?"
"Forty-four years old, which translates to about 30 years old on Earth."
Marvel's smile was gentle and joyful, while the others exchanged bewildered glances. Rocket had initially thought this man was another mad scientist, but now he concluded that this guy was a madman planning to retire in his early thirties. It seemed reasonable enough; otherwise, why would investigating the whereabouts of an Inhuman take several years? Clearly, he was planning to retire on Earth.
“We are tracking down Conqueror Kang, Mar-Vell, who has come here.”
Even Reed couldn't bear to disturb Mar-Vell's retirement life. He chose to conceal the reality of the Pocket Universe and directly asked about the matter. He didn't know how the Soul Stone was arranged, but Mar-Vell knew Kang and thought everything made sense, so he turned on the camera and began to investigate Kang's location.
"Alright, he's in the seventh section of the third level of the space station. Go and catch him."
Seeing that Mar-Vell didn't intend to move, no one said anything, so they just nodded and left together. Not long after Mar-Vell left, the scattered energy turned into a gust of wind and began to condense. Mar-Vell, who was slacking off, stood up, looked at the energy with confusion, and reached out his hand with a hint of curiosity.
Soon, this energy coalesced into a human form, taking the shape of Kovac.
Kovac's appearance immediately shocked Mar-Vell. His eyes widened as he realized something, and then his bracelet changed shape, covering his body with high-tech armor from the Kree Empire.
“Kovak? I… I remember now.”
Having understood everything, Mar-Vell was about to go help Kang's pursuit team, but Kovac, looking anxious, grabbed Mar-Vell: "Kang the Conqueror, it's a fake!"
"...You mean, the conqueror Kang they were chasing was a fake?"
Ma-Weil finally understood Kovac's thought process. Seeing Kovac nodding, he quickly asked, "Okay, then, where is the real Conqueror Kang?"
"I've always been here."
Conqueror Kang stepped forward with a smile, holding the gun capable of closing spatial rifts, and once again aimed it at Kovac: "And this time, no one can—"
biu!
Mar-Vell's bracelet transformed into a small pistol, piercing the heart of Conqueror Kang with a single shot. He then exclaimed helplessly, "Why does this guy talk so much nonsense? Has he never been on a battlefield?"
“That’s not the real Kang either.” Kovac’s eyes lit up. “He tore himself apart, into countless pieces.”
After 48 hours of cohabitation between the symbiote and the host, the symbiote gains the host's skills and generates a codex, while the host cannot obtain superpowers.
If Venom really did coexist with Gwen for 48 hours, its biggest benefit would be that Venom learned to play the drums and dance ballet.
I don't know why, but it seems like many comment apps no longer display comments; they're only visible in the background. It's quite mysterious.
