Chapter 209: The Riot Dies, Nar Lives!
Chapter 209: The Riot Dies, Nar Lives!
The white lightning illuminated almost the entire Manhattan night sky.
Peter Parker, panting, looked at the collapsed Grant Ward. His idea had proven effective. He had once lifted Thor's hammer in the wasteland, and his bioelectricity still carried a portion of its divine power—in other words, if he could unleash a massive burst of bioelectricity in an instant, he could sever the symbiote's mental link, just like Thor.
I'm just too tired.
"If I fail, I won't have the strength to continue fighting."
Another downside is that this thing doesn't distinguish between friend and foe. Peter and Venom's mental link was weakened when the lightning was released, but because Venom was also with Peter when he wielded Thor's hammer, the connection wasn't broken, and it's almost fully recovered now. However, Venom suffered considerable injuries and is a bit weak now.
Riot, Extremism, Devour, and Lash—the four symbiotes—all turned into a puddle of slime and collapsed beside Ward. Peter first pulled Ward away to prevent them from continuing to possess Ward once they regained their mobility. The others were manageable, but Riot was a real problem because it didn't exploit the weaknesses of ordinary symbiotes.
After pushing Ward aside, Peter began to consider how to deal with these guys. Theoretically, the other three symbiotes, besides Riot, hadn't actually possessed their hosts long enough to form a codex, so they could simply be killed. Riot, however, had to be imprisoned because, according to Ward, he had clearly formed a codex with Ward. If Riot died, his codex would somehow flow into Nal's consciousness, thus awakening Nal.
Which one was the riot? The gray one.
[Perhaps I can eat them? Maybe that could disrupt the code?]
"……are you sure?"
[Uncertainty, just a gut feeling.]
“Don’t forget that Nal is nearby. Maybe he’s the one influencing you.” Peter said weakly, then picked up Riot. Riot seemed to regain consciousness at this moment and began to wriggle. At this time, Ward also woke up, looking around in confusion, and saw Spider-Man, and Riot in Spider-Man’s hand.
"Spider-Man! He planted a sensor bomb here during the riots!"
"A sensor bomb?!" Peter was stunned for a moment, then the Riot in his hand began to shake violently, and at the same time his spider senses began to buzz and change rapidly.
How to do?
If you run with either Ward or Riot, the other will be killed by the bomb, allowing Gnar to revive. If you run with both, Riot might re-possess Ward, while the Iron Spider armor will already be destroyed…
Bring them all!
Peter made a decision immediately, sticking the riot to himself, then leaping up on his web and using it to hook Ward from a distance. Less than three seconds after Ward left the ground, a violent explosion occurred on the entire dock, sending up a mushroom cloud.
“Alright, Spider-Man caused the dock explosion, that’s definitely going to be the front page of the Daily Bugle tomorrow.” Peter leaned against the building’s exterior wall and asked Ward, “So what exactly is this sensor-activated bomb?”
"He stabbed a part of himself into my heart, speeding up my heartbeat. If his symbiotic relationship with me is broken, my heart rate will decrease, and the sensor bomb will activate. The bomb is SHIELD technology, which he learned from me."
"He really is a mad symbiote... Has he been influenced by Ward?" Peter maliciously speculated, but then sensed something was wrong, and his body began to sway—Riot had chosen a new tactic, attempting to form a new "hybrid" with Venom to seize control of Peter's body. This was impossible, given the very strong symbiotic relationship between Peter and Venom. However, what he needed to do wasn't actually gain control of Peter's body. They were hundreds of meters in the air, and in desperation, Peter jumped down, grabbing Ward with only his grip strength. If he could create a moment of chaos, causing Spider-Man to let go, Ward would fall to his death, and Knull would be resurrected.
They've planned this far! They really have all the contingency plans in place.
Peter did not choose to hold the web, but instead extended his web hand and gripped it tightly onto the web launcher. The web began to descend rapidly. As an excellent S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Ward immediately understood Spider-Man's intention and quickly slid down to the ground.
Has anyone ever told you that you'd be perfect for Batman?
Peter forcibly ripped the writhing riot off his body and looked at the large lump of slime in his hand, feeling extremely annoyed. This guy was really troublesome, and he had had enough of him.
You'll really do anything to die, you idiot.
Riot said nothing, and of course, he couldn't say anything now. He just bared his fangs at Spider-Man and roared, a weak roar that made Peter feel helpless. But at that moment, a figure appeared on the roof of the building he was hanging from.
It is whipping.
The dark green whip rushed towards Peter, who immediately jumped to dodge. But countless whips lashed out from behind the whip, all with the same goal: to seize the riot!
Wait, how did Whip survive that explosion?
Did I forget something?
Whip that temporary host; he's still alive!
"Damn! You're really something, rioters! You actually foresaw this far!"
Peter was going crazy. Riot was really trying to calculate everything; it was fucking outrageous. From the moment he brought Venom to Earth, this guy had been scheming and preparing backup plans. Peter had never encountered such a calculating enemy before—this guy wasn't even human!
The whip rushed toward Peter in that instant, in that instant when Peter dared not unleash the riot.
The riots began a second time attempting to form a hybrid with Venom.
Peter lost his balance instantly. He instinctively shot out his spider silk and caught the building, but the lashing whip, falling freely, finally caught the rioter who had been causing trouble. After a pointless tearing by the whip, the rioter was torn to pieces, and then Peter himself fell freely, crashing to his death at the bottom of the building.
Peter stumbled to the ground, cursing weakly as he saw the remnants of the symbiote on the ground, which seemed to be slowly wriggling.
Could it be that the riots are still going strong?
Soon, the two symbiote remnants coalesced, turning into a pure black color similar to venom. Then, a withered, pale hand emerged from them.
