Chapter 205 One Symbiote After Another
The S.H.I.E.L.D. team's temporary safe house is in the dock area on the west bank of the Hudson River. It's unclear how the docks attract these shady organizations, but they all seem to enjoy causing trouble there. Although the docks appear relatively isolated and safe, there is actually quite a lot of foot traffic.
"Hello? Is this the New York Fire Department? Do not attempt to extinguish the fire on the west side of the pier. There are dangerous alien creatures inside. Please stand by on the perimeter and be ready to receive the wounded."
"NYPD, is that right? Immediately cordon off the West Bank dock area between 71st and 78th Streets. There are dangerous alien creatures inside."
Peter quickly contacted all available organizations and swung his webs to the vicinity of the port area, which was now engulfed in flames. This environment was unsuitable for symbiotes to survive. Considering Coulson's description of Riot's characteristics, Peter took a deep breath. He roughly understood that he was about to fight a tough battle against Riot here—unable to rely on Venom, he might have to rely on himself.
He activated the sonar system on his suit. In such a high-temperature environment, infrared vision was useless. Fortunately, he had prepared a sonar device to deal with Mysterio, which could quickly image the scene and check how many survivors were left. He first locked onto a port warehouse on one side, where people were still trapped. So Peter immediately went over, used his webs to throw away the burning cargo that had fallen on the warehouse door, and then pried open the scorching hot warehouse door.
"Thank you, Spider-Man!"
The dockworkers trapped inside quickly escaped, one of them adding, "You'd be better off wearing this outfit; it's less scary."
Am I scary?
"Perhaps they just have a prejudice against black... wait."
Sonar imaging revealed the movement of a symbiote in the distance. Peter rushed over immediately and saw it whipping the crowd that had been driven together by the flames to gather together. Then, a whip extended from behind, pulling these people over and tearing off the heads of two people one by one.
He laid down two headless corpses under the horrified gazes of passersby, preparing to devour the third. Spider-Man landed on him, releasing pure white electricity from his hands, instantly shattering all the whips. People fell from mid-air and fled in panic.
"Ah, Spider-Man, my old rival."
Whiplash smiled, and a whip extended from behind him, turning the two headless corpses into his puppets: "Perfect, I'm starving. Since you stole my dinner, you'll have to pay for it."
“Earth isn’t your restaurant, and you’d better remove humans from your menu.” Peter said, dodging the attacks of the whip puppet, then rushed forward and punched the whip’s main body. The powerful electric current almost illuminated the entire night sky, and the resulting high temperature made the whip howl in pain. It kept attacking Peter with its whip, but in that instant, taking advantage of the fact that there was no heat wave covering Peter’s body, the black battle suit made him nimble and perfect, performing a variety of difficult moves in the air, dodging all kinds of whip swings, and moving directly above the whip.
Peter used spider silk to stick to a burning stick in the distant fire, grabbed it, and stabbed it hard into Whiplash's body. Whiplash howled, using all his strength to shake off the two puppets and Peter on his back, and painfully plunged into the sea. Peter had just looked at the surface of the sea when a purple bio-blade he had never seen before pierced out from the seabed. Then appeared a beautiful but extremely dangerous female purple symbiote. She landed in front of Peter, creating an opportunity for Whiplash to escape.
"Hello, Spider-Man, nice to meet you. You can call me Extreme."
"Sorry, I don't like extreme women."
Holding a long, burning wooden stick, Peter brandished it coolly before charging forward, intending to use the high-temperature areas on both sides to finish him off. However, Extreme clearly understood this about Peter, transforming his hands into two longswords that cleaved the burning ends of the stick in two, before thrusting it towards Peter.
"Can't you just conjure up a weapon or something?" [That doesn't seem possible... Oh, wait.]
Whether inspired by the Death Woman in Peter's memory or simply because Venom's limits were limited, Venom extended Peter's five fingers. Peter actually used his long, new fingers to grab an extremely sharp blade and then kicked the opponent away.
The main reason is that Peter doesn't dare to go all out. Before the code is formed, the symbiote and the other cannot fully coexist. For example, even if you use a Gatling gun on Peter now, the damage he suffers will be greatly reduced because he is integrated with Venom. But for Simmons in the extreme body, the other is really just like wearing a symbiote suit, and there is no way to guarantee his safety.
Fortunately, Peter still has other ways to deal with symbiotes.
Taking advantage of Extreme being kicked away, Peter quickly rushed towards his opponent, dodging several of the opponent's acid attacks using his spider-sense. Extreme quickly got up, brandishing his sharp blades and shrieking.
But Spider-Man disappeared, not by hiding in the night, but by simply vanishing.
Extreme began swinging his blade repeatedly, but suddenly, something hit his forehead. A spider web wrapped around something stuck to Extreme's forehead—it was a portable sound wave generator.
In an instant, intense sound waves began to penetrate Extreme's entire body. As she screamed, she began to gradually separate from Simmons. Spider-Man, who appeared in mid-air, shot out webs from his wrists, hooked Simmons, and pulled her out of Extreme's encasing body. Then, he leaped across dozens of meters of fire, landing directly on the street blocked by the NYPD, and carried Simmons to the ambulance.
"Spider-Man, how's it going? Are there any survivors inside?"
“According to the sonar, they’re gone.” Peter sighed as he looked at Sheriff Stacy, who had rushed over to direct the situation. “I couldn’t save everyone.”
"You've done a great job."
Sheriff Stacy offered Spider-Man a few words of comfort, but then another explosion occurred inside the harbor. She looked towards the docks and asked Spider-Man, "The innocent have all been rescued, but the bad guys are still inside, right?"
"Yes, I need to go and deal with them."
Spider-Man leaped back into the battlefield. This time, the Devourer appeared, but it wasn't as bizarre. The yellow-haired creature was short and stocky, smashing the dock floor with its enormous, disproportionate fists.
He turned around and looked at Spider-Man who had landed in front of him.
