Chapter 144 The Spider-Man Support Team is Officially Established!
Tuesday was an ordinary day; even the detective agency had no events scheduled. Peter arrived at school carrying a new backpack disguised as ordinary fabric with optical camouflage.

Today is also a special day, because last night Peter told Harry that he had something to talk to him about after lunch. Amadeus was put aside for now. It wasn't that he was being treated differently, but Harry needed to talk about Norman Osborn. After all, only Peter knew that Harry was Norman's son, and at school, Harry still referred to himself as "Harry Lyman".

This is why Peter wanted to speak with Harry alone.

"I once wondered if the senior members of the detective club actually held club activities at noon to avoid us newbies."

Harry closed the door as he walked into the clubroom, then looked at Peter, who was putting down his backpack and taking something out, and asked curiously, "What are you doing?"

"I'm setting up equipment to disconnect our cell phone signals to prevent eavesdropping, and also to check if anyone has installed cameras in the club activity room. No, it seems the detective agency is indeed a huge blind spot. Nobody would suspect that there are criminals hiding in the detective agency, haha."

The chuckle seemed to be directed at someone, and Harry looked at Peter with some confusion: "Are you alright, buddy? Did you do something wrong? Hacked into some big company's data?"

Peter was taken aback by Harry's speculation, then turned to look at Harry: "Of course not."

"Then why are you making it so mysterious?"

"Okay, next I'm going to tell you something. Don't be surprised, because I have something even more important to tell you."

Harry nodded, waiting to see what kind of amazing thing his brother would do, when he saw Peter Parker tell him something very seriously.

"I am Spider-Man."

Oh.

Peter looked at Harry, who showed no reaction, puzzled. He assumed Harry already knew he was Spider-Man, but that wasn't the case. Harry turned to him and asked, "Is there some kind of comic convention going on lately? Or are you planning to...?"

Peter sighed and let the venom cover his body. In an instant, the black and white battle suit covered Peter's entire body. Harry, who saw this, was startled, clutched his chest, and looked at Peter in disbelief.

Are you Spider-Man?

"I already said that."

“I know.” Harry took a deep breath incredulously, then nodded. “You’re Spider-Man?”

"...You just said that too."

Harry took several deep breaths to catch his breath before sitting down. Peter put away his black and white uniform and waited for Harry to calm down. After a moment of silence, Harry finally realized, "My best friend is a superhero, even an Avenger! Oh my god."

"And you actually told me!"

“Yes… there’s a reason for that. I gained my powers because I was bitten by an Osborn Tech genetically modified spider.” Osborn Tech—upon hearing that word, Harry understood immediately. He looked at Peter, then took a deep breath and nodded. Now he finally understood why his father, who was never satisfied with any of his friends, had been so kind to Peter last time.

“My dad must have told you something like…this is Osborn Technologies’ property or something, right?”

"Actually, what he told me was that he hoped Osborn Technologies could sponsor Spider-Man's activities and provide me with the technological support behind the scenes." Peter didn't reveal his real reason for wanting to accept Osborn as a backer: Who would have thought that a whole bunch of Spider-Man villains would emerge from this company?
In some ways, Osborn Technology can truly be considered the root of all evil in the Spider-Man series.

Harry seemed to understand something again and began to ponder: Did Spider-Man need Osborn Technology for technological assistance? It seemed not, after all, Spider-Man had the Avengers backing him and Tony Stark providing technological support. But then again, since that spider was a creation of Osborn Technology, perhaps Osborn Technology could actually be more helpful to Spider-Man.

Harry was still struggling with his decision, but little did he know that Peter Parker had already thought of everything for him.

“Ever since I met your father that day, I’ve gone home and looked into Dr. Emily Lyman. She was a great scientist who researched technologies that had little return but were vital to humanity. This might be an opportunity, Harry, to carry on your mother’s legacy.”

When it came to his mother, Harry seemed to suddenly have a flash of inspiration. He looked at Peter and asked uncertainly, "You mean, combine Osborn Technology's aid with the experimental projects my mother left behind? Spider-Man's identity is a secret, and we certainly can't reveal the location of the secret base you've set up. We need a laboratory with a plausible excuse as a cover... You mean, we can use this as an excuse to restart my mother's experimental projects?"

Harry suddenly realized that, of course, he wasn't capable of restarting these projects yet, as he lacked the expertise to handle them. However, as long as he preserved his mother's projects, there was always a chance. The key was to preserve them and prevent them from being abolished by his father or the Osborn Technology Council.

Harry stood up excitedly, hugged Peter, and then let go.

“You have no idea… I can’t express how grateful I am to you, Peter.” Harry laughed incoherently. “I… I’ve always wanted to preserve my mother’s research. Anyway, thank you.”

"It's not even close to being settled yet; your father's approval is still needed."

"He'll definitely agree. This guy, who only acts when there's something in it for him, must want to sponsor you."

Harry laughed, then realized something: "Wait, who else knows you're Spider-Man?"

“Gwen, she found out. And…”

“Where’s Amadeus?” Harry felt that Peter was about to reveal some big secret and quickly stopped him. Peter shrugged: “He should be here soon. I’ve informed him. Amadeus might be smarter than we think.”

Just then, Amadeus Cho opened the door to the club room, and after he closed it, Peter once again demonstrated the miracle of instantly changing clothes: "I am Spider-Man."

"Oh, wow~ this is really... unexpected, you really..."

Before Amadeus could finish speaking, Harry added, "Actually, my last name is Osborn. My name is Harry Osborn."

"Oh, I already knew that."
