I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 142 The Spider's Gift to the Cat
Chapter 142 The Spider's Gift to the Cat
After finishing the first day of classes in October, Peter Parker walked out of the school. Changing clothes is getting easier and easier now. At first, it took him half a day to find a place to change clothes. Later, there were portable uniforms. Now, Venom can simply change clothes in a second.
You're hesitating.
Venom's voice echoed in Peter's mind. Peter sighed. He understood what Venom was talking about. He was somewhat interested in accepting Osborne Technology's sponsorship to see what big project Osborne was up to, but at the same time, he was worried about Harry, who was clearly dissatisfied with his father.
"Shouldn't I come up with a solution that's as good as possible for both sides?"
After hacking into the school's surveillance system and starting to play a loop of footage, Peter controlled Venom to pry open Felicia's closet and put a box inside. As Venom did this, he expressed his confusion.
Why didn't you tell him you were Spider-Man?
Peter was momentarily at a loss for words when it came to Venom.
Do you believe him?
"I...we've only known each other for a month."
We just met yesterday.
"that is because……"
That's because he knew you were Venom, but Peter didn't say it aloud because it didn't make sense. If knowing Venom's properties allowed him to accept Venom, then there was no reason to hide it from Harry. What was he hiding from him?
“You’re right. It’s much simpler to tell Harry that I’m Spider-Man and then figure out a win-win solution than to not tell him and then try to figure it out.”
I am a genius.
As Venom spoke proudly, he helped lock Felicia's closet after Peter closed it.
When Felicia placed her hand on her locker, she immediately knew someone had tampered with it. Thinking about it carefully, there was only one person in the entire school with a legitimate reason to do so.
With a displeased expression, Felicia opened her closet. Unexpectedly, the person who opened it didn't pretend nothing had happened, but left something inside: an elegant gift box with a greeting card on top, a simple drawing of a black cat, and a sticky note with a small spider web drawn in the corner.
Without a doubt, the person who left the box was deliberately trying to tell Felicia that they had prepared a gift for her, and that they had used a lock pick, something only a thief would do.
He also knew he would not go home until after basketball team practice, so when he saw it, not many people would notice the box.
"Looks like Spider-Man's art classes weren't that great either."
Feeling much better, Felicia raised an eyebrow and placed her hand on the box. She was thinking about checking if the box was safe, but the thought only flashed through her mind before she gave up on the idea and picked up the sticky note instead.
I noticed you're still using the old gear from the Spirit Cat, so I guess these things are enough to make you owe me another favor.
Felicia raised an eyebrow, then opened the box. There wasn't much inside: a brand-new grappling hook, which looked even better than her own, and a pair of orange goggles with silver-gray frames. Felicia picked it up and saw tactical information flashing across them.
A brand new pair of gloves, which looked even more convenient than my own. A dark silver belt with cleverly designed storage compartments, which also wouldn't reflect too much light at night. And in the very center of the belt was an adorable geometric cat head made of straight lines.
"Oh, you're so cute."
Whether she was referring to the belt or not, Felicia picked it up.
Just by picking it up, Felicia was certain that these devices contained tracking devices, but after a moment's thought, she decided to ignore it.
Wouldn't it be nice to occasionally take a stroll through some big museums in the evening, keeping Peter Parker up at night?
He might actually worry that I went to steal something, and then come out looking for me in the middle of the night.
Felicia thought to herself, a smile involuntarily creeping onto her face. She didn't intend to completely oppose Peter Parker, but she also didn't intend to obey him.
Where can you find an obedient cat?
A few hours later, in Manhattan at night, the moon hung high in the sky, illuminating the thin clouds.
Felicia Hardy put on his uniform, changed into the new equipment given to him by someone, turned on the tactical information section of the goggles, and looked at his target.
New York is big, and there are many places for Black Cat to explore. Besides, Black Cat isn't a thief who specializes in stealing from the poor and innocent.
Since Kingpin's surrender, countless gangs, large and small, have emerged. Some are merely fleeting figures in New York's underworld, soon to be forgotten. But some gangs, with their complex and intertwined power structures involving many different individuals, possess the real potential to rise to power and dream of becoming the next Fisk.
Their various documents and passwords, their deals with politicians, evidence of illegal activities, and smuggled dangerous goods—this is far more exciting than bank vaults and safes; this is what cats should be pursuing.
New York, Manhattan, Rikers Island Prison.
Kingpin had just finished dinner when he saw the news on TV that Spider-Man and the Defenders had destroyed a secret U.S. military human experimentation base. Upon seeing the news, Kingpin was so angry that he transformed into a master of table cleaning, sweeping everything off the table onto the floor.
He wasn't angry at Spider-Man; Spider-Man was a meddlesome Avenger. Kingpin knew he couldn't possibly be a match for the Avengers, so he never intended to defeat Spider-Man. The Avengers couldn't possibly keep an eye on New York all the time; with Spider-Man on the other hand, they could always find a way to keep him occupied. That was the source of Kingpin's confidence that he could still wield considerable influence.
But Daredevil and his gang were different. These guys were actually based in New York. If they joined forces, they could really deal a devastating blow to Kingpin's business. After smashing everything, he rested for a bit and then sighed.
Thinking about it carefully, there are ways to deal with the Defenders, so all we need to do is figure out a way to keep Spider-Man occupied while we're doing our business.
He rang the bell and summoned the prison guard.
"Is there anything you need, Mr. Fisk?"
Kingpin smiled and nodded to the prison guard: "I need to make a phone call."
The prison guard nodded and handed Kingpin a satellite phone. Kingpin made a call and then gave instructions to the person on the other end.
"Could you inform Mr. Sergei Kravnov? Tell him that his brother was killed by Spider-Man."
First, let's catch up on yesterday's update.
