Chapter 131 Ventilation ducts aren't as comfortable as they are in the movies.
Matt and Luke Cage temporarily stalled the Hydra agents and discovered that the so-called Viper Security Company was most likely a front for Hydra. This was perfect; it provided them with a free target for their investigation.

Naturally, the best candidates to infiltrate were Spider-Man, with his invisibility abilities, and Black Cat, a professional thief (though he didn't seem to steal much). It was only at this moment that Black Cat realized why Spider-Man could get so close to him when he infiltrated Osborn Technologies, even though he hadn't seen anyone.

"So as a spider, you can not only climb walls, but also become invisible."

"Yes, spiders are not like kittens, where no one would find them strange. If a person sees a spider, they would at least pick up a feather duster and clean it up properly."

As Peter spoke, he climbed down the ceiling into Viper Security. For a security company, the fact that this entity had a separate thirteen-story building as its headquarters in New York City demonstrated its considerable strength, or rather, its strong security awareness. For safety's sake, Spider-Man deliberately changed into his old suit and old-fashioned web-shooters, carrying nothing but an old-fashioned miniature communicator.

Peter was also the first to join Viper Security, since there was no guarantee of safety within the company, so he figured he might as well go first.

By the way, who are the members of the Viper Gang again?

This organization was so obscure that Peter only remembered a few guys who didn't look human at all, but rather like snakes. But at least for now, it seemed that Viper Security was just a mercenary organization equipped with some high-tech gear.

Peter tried his best to recall which members of the Viper Gang had a memorable appearance as he climbed down the bathroom ventilation duct into the elevator shaft. He looked down, as the bottomless abyss of the elevator shaft seemed to be staring back at him.

Why do all villainous organizations like to build their bases underground?

Looking at the bottomless elevator shaft, Peter couldn't help but complain. He then slowly climbed down, and it seemed that no one would expect someone to break in from here. He didn't encounter much resistance along the way, but just kept going deeper and deeper.

Then the communicator lost communication.

He glanced at the deep passage above, then down below, where the water was already at the surface. Undoubtedly, the enemy's secret was hidden underwater. Spider-Man moved upwards a short distance before re-establishing communication. After a couple of quiet coughs, Felicia asked from the other end of the communicator, "How's the situation?"

"It's hard to say. It seems that the Viper Gang are not land snakes but sea snakes. I just don't know how deep they sleep."

As Peter spoke, he sped back into the security company's interior on his spiderweb: "The other side can't possibly hide everyone underwater, otherwise there would be obvious problems with personnel movement. Besides that secret base, where else do you think the Viper Gang... I mean, the security company, would hide its secrets?"

“I think ‘Viper Gang’ is a pretty good name, it sounds much better than ‘Security Company’,” Felicia said, uttering something Peter hadn’t expected at all: “I’m in their, uh, server room?”

"where are you?"

"Don't make a fuss, little spider, it's just stealing a little something."

Black Cat plugged a USB drive into the Viper Security Company's mainframe and then entered the ventilation duct: "You should be more concerned about the hygiene of the ventilation duct. If there were other ways to get in, I really wouldn't want to climb in."

"On the bright side, no one ever thinks that anyone in the real world could actually climb into the ventilation duct on the 13th floor."

Peter chatted with Felicia as he crawled through the ventilation duct, but he soon stopped because the black cat was lying in his path, smiling and waving the communicator in his hand: "Hey, why aren't you invisible anymore?"

"Because no one can see me." "Then why are you wearing your mask in a place like this?"

“Because… there’s a lot of dust in the ventilation ducts.” Peter couldn’t help but laugh at himself. “It’s completely different from the ventilation ducts in the movies, isn’t it? They’re full of dust and mold, and sometimes there are spiders, rats or other things. And you have to make sure that the three-millimeter galvanized steel plate can support its own weight and doesn’t make any noise.”

Felicia gave a clearly unsatisfactory answer, rolled her eyes, then rolled over and lay down on the pipe, taking out a cell phone: "I'm going to take a shower when I get home, no, I'm going to shower for days. Luckily, tomorrow is the weekend, otherwise I don't know how to explain the smell on my body to my classmates."

“That’s the advantage of wearing a mask.” Peter looked at the programs flashing on the black cat’s phone: “Wait, you’re using your phone to process information?”

“A handheld computer, but not much different. Don’t worry, anyone investigating the signal source can only trace it back to their own server room, since we’re right here.” After rummaging around for a while, Felicia suddenly found something and handed the phone to Peter: “Wait, isn’t this the girl Detective Jessica has been looking for?”

Peter took the handheld computer and watched as a girl in a coma was placed on a stretcher and transported to an elevator that could reach underwater. The two exchanged a glance, confirming what had roughly happened. Then, Peter quickly pulled up several other video clips on the handheld.

“There’s no video footage of them bringing these people in, but they did leave through Viper Security. That elevator should lead to Hydra’s new secret lab. Are these one of the matching targets you found at that hospital?”

Felicia took the handheld console, held it up, and checked the screen. Then, Peter noticed something unexpected: he saw someone he knew being strapped to a stretcher and carried into the elevator.

Martin Lee?

"Do you know this Asian man?"

"He was a wealthy man in Chinatown who ran a charity banquet specifically to help the homeless."

Black Cat then put down the handheld console and looked up at Spider-Man's head.

"You even do community volunteer work?"

"...Why not? It would be so meaningful."

Felicia sighed.

"Alright, now that we know what we need to do, what are we waiting for?"

Peter answered the question.

"Wait for the Viper Gang members to be lured out."
