Chapter 118 Rikers Island
"Rikes Island, a huge prison located in New York, accessible only by a single bridge. How come I never thought of coming here before?"

Peter, who had taken the afternoon off, entered Rikers Island prison without seeking help from others. He also didn't use his Avengers identity to give prior notice, instead infiltrating undetected. Since most of Rikers Island was actually created from a landfill, the entire prison island was, in every respect, utterly terrible. As for the security, the prison reportedly saw 1500 inmate attacks on guards every year, so he didn't have high hopes for the guarding.

Mr. Peter scanned the main structure of the prison using the eyepiece's scanning system. According to Matt, Luke Cage escaped from the basement by breaking through a wall and jumping into the river. That made things much easier. Given the efficiency of federal public prisons like Rikers Island in America, that broken wall certainly hadn't been repaired yet.

Sure enough, the invisible Spider-Man quickly found the wall and, following the nearby traces, located the prison floor where Luke Cage and other experimental subjects had been held. He quietly took the guard's key, opened the door, and sneaked inside.

"The best spy Spider-Man is here—"

Unfortunately, while invisible, one cannot speak loudly or engage in conversation. The eyepiece displays the surrounding environment, revealing that the last time someone was imprisoned here was two days ago, the day Luke Cage escaped.

In other words, the other side immediately moved and evacuated after discovering Luke Cage's escape. Their reaction was indeed swift; Peter found the building's basement, but it had been boarded up with planks—a simple and easy solution.

"Um……"

Peter frowned upon seeing this. After scanning to confirm that there was no passage, he violently removed the wooden planks and opened the door to go inside, only after confirming that no one was around.

He remained vigilant for potential enemies throughout the journey, but both his spider senses and various scans proved that nothing particularly dangerous was happening.

No, strictly speaking, there's nothing left here.

The basement was a vast, empty space, filled only with a faint smell of blood. There wasn't even an incinerator or gas trap prepared for an intruder like Peter, which made him feel quite uncomfortable.

But there was truly nothing there, only a ventilation fan constantly changing the air and washing away the stench of blood. The villains didn't intend to fight them head-on; without leaving any provocative words, they simply vanished.

Efficient, organized, and with a clear objective. Peter documented all of this as evidence, while also using scratches on the ground to deduce some of the previous laboratory furnishings and overall scale.

But what else is there?

Peter knew nothing else besides that.

But he knew someone who might know about these things, and that person happened to be on Rikers Island.

This person is Kingpin.

Kingpin, now back on Rikers Island, was very familiar with the place. He requested a well-furnished suite, dressed in an orange prison uniform, and was shaving. He heard the uninvited guest's voice, put down his razor, wiped his face with a towel, and went outside. He saw Spider-Man suddenly appear in his suite and smiled helplessly.

"If you're going to make a move here, all of New York will know what happened, Spider-Man."

Kingpin sat down on the sofa as he spoke, looking at Spider-Man. Peter didn't waste any words and went straight to the point: "Are you aware that illegal human experiments are being conducted in the basement of this prison?"

Kingpin was genuinely taken aback when he heard this. In fact, he was completely unaware that such horrific experiments were being conducted underground on Rikers Island, since the "volunteers" selected by the experimenters omitted gang members from the background.

But that doesn’t mean Kingpin was completely unaware. He paused for a moment, then slowly said, “I don’t know about this, but… I know that kidnappings often happen in New York without any reason, and those kidnapped never return.”

Kingpin found it strange, but didn't pursue it further. Firstly, there was no need, and secondly, Kingpin also felt that the other party was not simple, and there was no need to get involved. As for the super soldiers, it was either S.H.I.E.L.D. or the military.

But Kingpin was unwilling to tell Spider-Man these things.
“Why should I tell you more details?” Peter thought for a moment and said, “I’ve been to another universe, where your wife is Vanessa, and you have a child named Richard…”

Kingpin paused for a moment before looking at Peter.

"Are you threatening me?"

"No, I won't threaten you. But I want you to understand one thing: I'm watching you all the time. Don't try to find out my true identity with any fools."

Spider-Man glared menacingly at Kingpin.

“If my family is in danger, then I will go to your wife.”

"Now, tell me what exactly happened."

Otto Octavia is on the run.

Jin offered him a high-level laboratory, which he could no longer stay in, even though he had always hoped for a similar lab. But compared to surviving and taking revenge on Norman Osborn, this lab seemed insignificant.

If you should give up, then give up.

Furthermore, considering that Thriller and the others had moved to the safer Raft Prison, Doctor Octopus had already abandoned several outposts in the sewers that hadn't yet been exposed. All for absolute safety.

But he was blocked in the sewer.

“Dr. Otto Octavia, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Dr. Koyama.”

An elderly Japanese scientist appeared in the sewers with a group of men in black. Otto was astonished to discover that, according to thermal imaging, these men in black were all cold corpses; not a single one of them was alive.

This piqued Otto's interest. What kind of necromancer was this?

"What do you want? I don't remember knowing any Japanese people."

Otto spoke with a hint of self-deprecation, but the other man didn't see it that way: "I've read your paper, the research that Norman Osborn stole from you. You're an undeniable genius. Join us, Dr. Otto, we can give you the best chance for revenge!"

"Don't you want to stand in front of Norman Osborn and utterly humiliate him?"

Otto seemed to have caught a crucial clue: "You just said, stand up."

"Yes, stand up."

Xiaoshan, realizing the fish had taken the bait, laughed and waited for a reply. Sure enough, Otto Octavia extended his mechanical claw and shook hands with the other party.

"Our collaboration is only temporary. I'm trading my knowledge and skills for my health."

I realized I haven't thanked anyone for the donations yet. I'll make sure to thank everyone for the larger donations tomorrow. Thank you all for your continued support.
