Chapter 107 Blood connection

Chapter 107 Blood connection

When Eileen unleashed five or six fireballs at once, circling herself and the girl opposite her in fancy moves to demonstrate that she possessed both strength and skill, the magic professor could only speechlessly tell her to leave.

She didn't go back to her original seat, but instead walked across half the classroom and sat down next to Eric in the corner.

"How about it?"

“I don’t know anything about magic,” Eric said, glancing at the many gazes that followed him in the classroom. “But judging from how scared you were of these classmates and professors, that move you just made must have been really impressive.”

Eileen chuckled, then remembered the fleeting disappointment she'd seen on his face earlier. She stared at him for a moment, then asked, "Really?"

“Why would I lie to you? You used that spell just now and you were able to chase me and my uncle away,” Eric said.

Eileen laughed even harder, and then said, "You're just trying to fool me. In front of Eric and Uncle, I definitely wouldn't even have a chance to make a move."

“There’s definitely a chance.” Eric looked at her. “My uncle and I would rather be bombarded with fireballs by Eileen than hurt you in the slightest.”

"Hehe, if I turn into a bad guy, you're all doomed."

“Don’t jinx it,” Eric said immediately.

Eileen pouted and leaned on his shoulder, but he shook her and lifted her up again. "Go back to your class."

"Okay." Eileen got up and returned to her original spot.

On the stage below, another group of young mages were called up for a sparring match. Eric watched absentmindedly, glancing at Eileen.

He was telling the truth; he really didn't understand magic. At most, he recognized some spells he had used or seen in his previous life based on his past impressions, but that was all he knew. It was no different from being completely ignorant.

Judging from the reactions of the magic professor and other students, Eileen's progress in learning magic over the past year has been astonishing, and her talent in magic is undeniable.

But Eric still felt a sense of loss.

—According to the original timeline, in another year, Eileen will become the witch who destroys half of the capital.

But looking at it now, Eileen is still far from that version of herself, and it's not something that can be bridged in just one year.

"Could it be a difference in the teachers?... But Sinmag doesn't seem like a particularly good teacher." Eric muttered to himself, beginning to doubt the teaching ability of that moon elf archmage.

The more complete Lutia is now, the more destructive power Eileen possesses in another timeline.

Eric sighed.

He didn't necessarily want Eileen to become that kind of world-destroying archmage, but having witnessed her at her peak, he couldn't help but feel a certain expectation.

"Let's just take it one step at a time," Eric thought. He really didn't understand magic, so there was no point in rushing.

The offensive and defensive drills continued, and Eric continued to daydream until the class ended, when Eileen came over with her friends.

"Eric, how long are you going to stay here?"

"It's almost time to head back," Eric said, standing up. "I'll come see you again tomorrow."

Eileen shook her head. "I'll come to town to find you tomorrow."

She smiled mysteriously, "I have a surprise for you."

Eric pursed his lips. "I haven't prepared anything."

Eileen took his hand, a smile spreading across her face. "The fact that you came to see me is already the biggest surprise."

She saw Eric off from the academy, stopping only after they had crossed the stone bridge outside the academy.

"Eric, don't wander off tomorrow, okay? I'll be over in the morning," Eileen emphasized again as she said goodbye.

"understood."

Eric mounted his horse, nodded to Eileen and her friends, and rode away.

On the way back to Lutia, Eric was racking his brains trying to figure out what surprise to prepare for Eileen.

He was a pragmatist, and the best gift he could think of for his sister was the best staff, the best robe, and the best mana recovery item.

However, he has no clue who has these things. Even if he did, it would be difficult for him to obtain them with his current strength. He can only settle for second best, or even worse, or even worse...

What he could buy in Lutia, Eileen could also buy herself, so it wasn't much of a surprise.

Eric, deep in thought on horseback, unknowingly returned to his lodgings.

Leslie came over to take his horse. "Young master, why do you look so worried?"

“I want to give Eileen a gift, but I don’t know what to give her.” Eric followed him into the yard before getting off.

“Oh, a gift.” Leslie exclaimed, then frowned. “The problem is, Miss doesn’t lack anything.”

He is also a pragmatist.

"If we could get Uncle to come from Oren, that would be a wonderful surprise..." Eric muttered, "but we don't have the time."

“Young master, why don’t you take Miss to somewhere outside of Lutia for a day or two?” Leslie said casually. “Miss Eileen has never left Lutia since she came here.”

"Where to?" Eric asked.

“Uh…” Leslie thought for a moment, “Places Miss Eileen hasn’t been to?” “There are plenty,” Eric said, his mind wandering.

Where could he take Eileen? It had to be somewhere she'd never experienced before, and it couldn't be too far from Lutia... Should he find a dungeon near Lutia to run?
A copy...a copy?
Eric suddenly had an idea.

"Leslie, can you still wield a sword?"

"Young Master, what are you saying?"

Eric glanced sideways at his protruding belly, and the captain of the guard inhaled and contracted his stomach, indicating that he was still in his prime.

"Alright, come with us tomorrow."

"Do you want to fight, young master?"

“Maybe,” Eric said. “With you, me, and Eileen, it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Leslie nodded in agreement.

Eric needed a more detailed map of the surrounding area, so he went to find a place to buy one. When he returned to his residence, he saw Leslie slashing at the air with his sword in the yard.

This guy hasn't picked up a weapon in ages...

Eric shook his head and went back to his room.

He spread out a map and searched for a while in the southwest of Lutia, roughly determining the location of the place he needed to go.

"If it could become a copy a few years later, it should still be well preserved now... at least it still has value for exploration."

Just as Leslie was cramming at the last minute, Eric also used the remaining time to make some preparations for tomorrow's trip.

That night, he went to bed early.

Eric woke up early the next morning, before the sun had even risen.

Leslie also woke up and, upon seeing him, gave a standard knightly salute.

“Young Master Eric, bathed in the glory of your ancestors and the Holy Church, you have completed another full year in this world. Happy birthday.”

Eric smiled. "Seeing you on my birthday reminds me of the time when I was still in the city lord's mansion."

The head guard also laughed, "More than a decade has passed in the blink of an eye. It is truly my honor to have been able to follow the young master all this time."

Around eight or nine o'clock in the morning, Eileen arrived in a carriage.

Happy birthday, Miss Eileen.

“You’re happy too, thank you, Leslie!” Eileen was delighted. “Is Eric up yet?”

"I got up early," Eric replied from the second-floor window.

She tilted her head back and said, "Happy birthday, Eric!"

"Happy birthday, Eileen." Eric smiled at her and turned to go downstairs.

When they got downstairs, Eileen took his hands in hers and said "Happy Birthday" again.

Eric was happy to repeat the blessings with his sister, but before he could speak, he suddenly felt the temperature rise beside him.

A ball of flame appeared out of thin air and continued to expand and stretch, gradually transforming into a human shape. On the other side, a floating water sphere also appeared, undergoing the same transformation.

When the changes in water and fire finally ceased, a new version of Eric appeared on his left and a new version of Erin on his right. One was composed of still flames, while the other was pure water element, though their features were still somewhat blurry.

Two humanoid elemental figures circled around the brother and sister, rising and falling in circles, as if they were running and jumping, or dancing.

Eric stared intently; it seemed this was the birthday surprise Eileen had prepared for him.

"Happy birthday, Eric..."

Looking at Eileen, her eyes were closed and sweat poured down her cheeks. Clearly, controlling the elemental bodies and making them dance around them was a considerable mental burden for her.

“I saw it, Eileen.” Eric squeezed her hand. “You’re amazing.”

Eileen opened her eyes and forced a smile at him, but as soon as she lost focus, the elemental bodies on both sides began to twitch in place.

"Ahhh?" In her panic, the two elemental bodies could no longer even maintain their human form.

Eric chuckled and tickled her waist. Eileen twisted away to avoid it, but completely lost control. The fire element vanished with a bang, and the water element turned into a large puddle on the ground.

"Eric!"

“I’ve already seen it; I don’t need to keep pushing myself,” Eric said.

Eileen sighed, "When I become more powerful, I'll be able to make them act independently of my mental power."

Eric wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Is next year okay?"

Eileen smiled and said, "I'll try my best."

“Take a break,” Eric said, nodding to Leslie. “We’ll leave the city together later; I’ve prepared a surprise for you.”
