Chapter 106 College Life
Eileen's room is deep inside the academy, in a not-so-high place. It's not very big, but the window faces Lake Elf's Tear below, offering a pretty good view.

According to Eileen, students who have just entered the academy live in a large room with more than a dozen other students. Only after they have made certain progress in their magical studies and gained the approval of their magic teachers can they live alone.

The room wasn't very big; you could see everything at a glance. Eric sat down on the edge of the bed, looking at the burn marks on the floor. "Is this where I accidentally burned myself during that practice session?"

“Yes, the academy almost took back our room.” Eileen’s face fell. “But practicing this kind of magic in our rooms isn’t allowed anyway…”

“Your college is a huge illegal building; a fire could burn it from the east side of the college to the west side,” Eric said.

Eileen smiled. "No, the flames are entirely under my control."

The elder brother's expression suddenly changed.

"What's wrong?" Eileen asked, puzzled.

"It's nothing..." Eric shook his head, thinking to himself that he was being too sensitive.

"The flames are entirely under my control!"

This is the dialogue from the scene where the entire group is barbecued during the Witch Irene boss battle...

The 20-meter-long Flame Blade, back when the 90 version was first released, could wipe out more than half of a 40-person raid group with a single 180-degree sweep.

Things are different now; Eileen won't just barbecue people anymore... Eric comforted himself.

The room contained many strange and unusual items. Eileen showed her brother some of her collection, while Eric bluntly commented that they were all useless alchemical junk.

"But it's really interesting!"

Eileen showed a bottle of blue powder in her hand, "Add this to water and all the impurities will be absorbed together. It's very useful when doing alchemy experiments."

Eric looked at it more and more familiar, and the effect was the same. "Where did you buy it? What was the price?"

"Which alchemy shop in Lutia did you buy it from?" Eileen thought for a moment. "One silver coin a bottle, and you get a discount if you buy more."

Eric gritted his teeth.

“However, Professor Agnes said that human alchemy is just a side path, and that I only need to know about it, not delve into it,” Eileen said.

This is truly a sharp commentary.

However, given Agnes's status as a Moon Elf Archmage, she certainly has the right to say such things, and in terms of alchemical research, the Star Origin Academy is indeed more advanced.

"Is Archmage Agnes at the academy lately?" Eric asked casually.

“Yes,” Eileen said. “Does Eric want to see the teacher?”

“If she has time, let’s meet her. Thanks to her, Eileen is able to come here to study magic,” Eric said. “I want to express my gratitude in person.”

If Agnes saw his remorse and was moved, she could give him some treasured mage artifacts... He wouldn't need them, but Eileen could.

Eileen continued rummaging through drawers, showing him the little alchemical junk items as if she were displaying her own toys. Eric looked at them one by one and suddenly thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea to let her study alchemy, since she seemed very interested.

However, the path she chooses to take in the future is up to Eileen herself. At most, he can offer her some reminders or warnings on an abstract level, such as whether it's good or evil. For professional matters, there are more professional people to guide her.

Once Eileen's enthusiasm for showing off the toys had subsided, she sat down next to him, leaning on his shoulder. "Eric, I'm so glad you came to see me."

Eric touched her face. "I'm so happy to see Eileen like this, I almost cried."

The two smiled at each other, and Eileen stood up again. "Uncle wrote me a lot of letters, Eric, would you like to see them?"

"have a look."

Edgar wrote a whole stack of letters to Eileen, so many that Eric couldn't help but feel he was being unfair. However, the contents were mostly daily greetings and instructions, and were quite detailed.

Edgar remains unmarried and childless, but in reality, he is no different from an old father.

"Will Eileen go back to inherit her uncle's title and become the lord of Dante County?"

Eileen paused for a moment, then asked, "Where's Eric?"

"I am the future saintess."

“It was originally mine.” Eileen looked at her brother, not really caring that he had taken her position as the successor to the saintess.

Eric said, "Then Eileen will have no chance to come into contact with magic."

"That's true... Can't a saintess inherit a title and become a lord?"

“No.” Eric shook his head. “Hmm…” Eileen hesitated, “Then what should we do? I’ve never thought about this before.”

“You should advise your uncle to get married soon,” Eric said. “Your letter will probably be more effective than mine.”

"Huh? I don't want to, I don't know how to bring it up," Eileen refused. "Can't Eric secretly have a child for his uncle to raise?"

"..."

Eric wiped his sweat. Eileen, as expected, didn't take the church seriously either. After a long pause, she finally managed to say, "Not really."

Seeing that Eileen was still hesitating, he said, "Let's talk about it later, it's still early."

"Ok."

After showing Eric his room, Eileen took him on a tour of the academy, showing him where she usually lived and studied.

"These large classrooms are where we have magic theory classes. They're divided according to the progress of the theory. I'm in this classroom now."

"Regardless of what we're learning, my brother and I have certainly not fallen behind in our education."

"Ok?"

"It's nothing, let's keep going."

After walking around the academy, it was almost noon. Eric and Eileen went outside the academy to meet up with Leslie, who was waiting there.

"I'm staying to watch Eileen's class. You can go back now."

"Yes, Master."

The two strolled along the lake. The exorcism anniversary was still a few days away, but preparations were already underway, with the area fenced off and a platform erected—His Majesty the Emperor would be attending, so they couldn't be too casual.

“I also have friends helping out here,” Eileen said, looking around at the area being set up. “They’re in charge of the fire show at the festival.”

"I guess this counts as an internship," Eric said. Besides continuing their magical research, students at the Lutia Magic Academy primarily go to the imperial army, the royal palace, and even the residences of nobles after leaving the academy.

After circling the lake and returning to the academy, it was almost time for Eileen's class. Eric followed her to a large, tiered classroom.

There seemed to be quite a few students observing. Eric found a corner to sit down and watched Eileen sit with her friends, joking and playing around like an ordinary high school student in his previous life, until a magic professor walked into the classroom.

Eric, an outsider not wearing a robe or school uniform, was only glanced at before the lesson began.

The lesson was a simulation of spell attack and defense, which is simply a battle of spells. However, Eileen's current stage is still a one-way simulation, that is, only attacking or only defending.

The magic professor called up a group of students to demonstrate in conjunction with his explanation, and Eileen was one of them.

"Eileen on offense, Leanna on defense. Just like before, go all out and don't worry about anything else."

Eric saw him place a white crystal somewhere on the floor, and the ground instantly lit up with the patterns of a magic circle, which then quickly disappeared.

“Let’s begin,” the magic professor announced.

Eric sat up straight and looked, only to see Eileen glance in his direction first and raise her chin.

He smiled, waved, and cheered for his sister.

Turning her gaze away, Eileen became focused. She raised her staff, pointing it at her target, and a ball of flame appeared at the tip of the staff, growing larger and larger.

She waved her staff, and a huge fireball hurtled forward.

Meanwhile, the girl who was Erin's opponent also waved her staff and quickly chanted, creating a water curtain in front of her.

呲——

The fireball collided with the water curtain, causing it to twist and deform, but ultimately failed to break through, turning into a wisp of smoke and dissipating.

Is that all?
Eric continued watching, while Eileen waved her staff in her right hand and her five fingers in her left hand constantly changed, creating seven or eight huge fireballs in one go. These fireballs hovered in front of her and then shot towards the girl opposite her, whose face had already turned pale, like cannonballs.

The first fireball was blocked by the water curtain, and the second one immediately crashed into it, blasting the water curtain into a cloud of steam. The remaining fireballs followed closely, easily breaking through the newly formed water curtain and hurtling towards the girl.

Just then, the ground magic circle lit up, and the remaining fireballs all hovered motionless before vaporizing and disappearing.

“Eileen, although I’ve said that absolute power surpasses all skill, you can’t just rely on brute force and completely ignore technique, can you? I have to admit, the number and power of your fireballs have improved quite a bit, but why waste so much magic power on a defense that can be broken through with just two fireballs? Like this…”

The magic professor began explaining based on the simple demonstration they had just done. Eileen listened while glancing at the corner of the classroom and then tilting her head.

Eric seemed... a little disappointed?
