Chapter 84 The Pursuit (Part 1)
Gu Yi picked up their suitcases and stepped out first, with Vivian following behind, yawning. Gu Yi looked ahead and saw Team Leader Walker leaning against the door of a black Chevrolet, nodding to them: "S-class."

Gu Yi threw his luggage into the trunk and climbed into the back seat. "I didn't expect it to be you again, Team Leader Walker."

“I am now fully in charge of pursuing the remaining Sinaloa followers.” Walker turned the car key, the blue light from the dashboard illuminating the scar at the corner of his eye. As the car drove out of the airport, the streetlights outside the window cast flowing spots of light on Gu Yi’s face.

"You've been clearing out the remnants of Sinaloa quite a bit during this time, haven't you?" Gu Yi asked.

"Almost." Walker turned the steering wheel onto the highway with one hand. "We've been cleaning up their organization layer by layer, and we've already caught quite a few people."

Vivian weakly interjected in the rearview mirror, "I've seen the operation footage on the dark web. The Enforcement Bureau has been really ruthless in South America lately, killing people from top to bottom. Will things change in South America after this?"

“No,” Walker shook his head. “Everything will be back to normal once the sun rises.”

“I see…” Vivian said softly.

Walker glanced at the navigation. "We're heading to the San Juan district now."

"What are the specific arrangements?" Gu Yi turned his gaze away from the window.

"At 3:00 sharp, you stormed the Venomous Fang gang's stronghold and captured Rodrigo alive."

Gu Yi raised an eyebrow slightly: "That's it?"

“There was originally an action plan, but you came. Director Schneider specifically instructed that letting you do as you see fit is the best solution.”

"Understood." Gu Yi nodded.

Vivian suddenly grabbed the driver's seat headrest: "Team Leader Walker, are Ye Sheng and Aki here?"

“He returned to his unit after the Baltimore incident.” Walker glanced at the rearview mirror. “If he hadn’t been returned soon, Mance would have come with a gun to demand him back. I called him afterward, but he wouldn’t answer; he just had Selma handle it.”

“It’s Professor Mans’s group. Senior Sister Selma used to lead us to skip class all the time.” Vivian’s eyes lit up.

The Chevrolet suddenly braked, and the three of them lurched forward. Walker gripped the steering wheel tightly, staring at the congested traffic ahead: "Let's get some rest; we might not be able to sleep all night."

"No need, Senior Sister slept well on the plane." Gu Yi pressed down on the eye mask that Vivian was about to take out.

"Hey!" Vivian nudged him with her elbow. "You're not talking like you didn't doze off!"

The Chevrolet moved slowly with the flow of traffic, while in the distance, the main urban area of Mexico City resembled a lurking, luminous behemoth.

·
Edson kicked open the half-closed door. The drug lord, whose left eye was covered by a black eyepatch, was furious. He strode to the sofa and yelled, "Commander, what the hell did you do? Did you make a phone call outside?"

Rodrigo Salgado, slumped in the sofa, the former commander of the 'Red Python' slowly exhaling cigar smoke, said, "Yes, I made a phone call outside yesterday."

"Are you crazy?!" Edson slammed his fist on the coffee table. "How many people have died in Mexico City in the last two weeks? We agreed to keep a low profile!"

"Fang. Our relationship will be discovered sooner or later. I just want to save myself, so I contacted an organization."

Edson grabbed the man by the collar. "You're playing with fire! They've abandoned Sinaloa. What makes you think they'll come to your rescue? Now that you've exposed your location, those executioners in black trench coats will be here soon! You've killed yourself, you've killed me, you've killed everyone!"

Rodrigo suddenly burst into a hoarse, maniacal laugh. "How could I not know they abandoned us? Baltimore! When those bastards suddenly decided to send the entire Red Python to Baltimore, I smelled the scent of 'the rabbit is killed after the hunt'! Sure enough, the erasure operation began then. They killed most of the people in the group who knew the truth and wiped out all traces."

Edson got even angrier. "Then why did you contact them? Do you still expect them to save you? They'll only come to kill you!"

“I’m not contacting those maggots!” Rodrigo roared. “The chips I’ve hidden over the years are enough to get some behemoths to come and do business with me personally.”

"What exactly are you?" The leader of the Poison Fang Gang unconsciously loosened his grip.

Rodrigo let out a cold laugh: "I can't tell you. The more you know, the more dangerous it is. It was the right decision not to let you participate in Sinaloa's core affairs all these years. Those greedy vampires are practically draining the pond to catch all the fish; sooner or later they'll alert those behemoths that dominate the world. See? The moment of destruction is here."

"Wait!" Edson waved his arms and took two steps back. "At least explain what you're hiding!"

"Hahaha!" Rodrigo suddenly threw his head back and laughed. "You think our rise really relied on cocaine? Those big shots supported us, this black glove, just to collect dragon relics in South America! They used us as a firewall so they could retreat easily if things got out. Such a simple trick, and those idiots in the group actually thought they could buy their future with money!"

Edson was frantic. "Then what exactly did you do?"

"Remember the evolution potion? I gave you one."

“I know! It’s a forbidden drug for forcibly purifying bloodlines in a short period of time.” Edson seemed to feel the burning sensation surging through his veins again.

He tapped his temple. "All its data, and everything else, is stored here."

Edson took two steps back. "You...how did you do that?!"

"Don't ask!" Rodrigo roared. "All you need to know is that someone doesn't want me to be caught by those black trench coats."

Edson said anxiously, "But you've most likely been exposed! At least move to the backup base first."

“No need!” Rodrigo waved his hand. “Those people said they’ll come to pick me up today.”

"Today?" Edson's tense body relaxed slightly. "Just come pick me up today. I don't think those guys in black trench coats will act that quickly."

Rodrigo suddenly stood up, his scarred right hand hovering in the air for a moment before finally pressing heavily on Edson's shoulder: "Fang, come with me."

“No, I have more here.” Edson glanced at the safe in the corner, where the Venom Fang Gang’s ledgers for the past six months were kept.

“What kind of time is this!” Rodrigo gripped his brother’s leather jacket collar tightly, the leather creaking in his hand. “You’ve seen how those guys in black trench coats treated us, haven’t you? They killed more than twenty people in the south of the city just the day before yesterday. Herrera’s bastard son was burned alive! You think you can live by telling them you were coerced by me? They’ll definitely kill you too!”

Edson felt a cold sweat break out on the back of his neck. "You at least need to tell me where you're going."

“Japan.” Rodrigo released his grip. “They’re in Japan. That woman has promised me endless riches and luxury.”

"But what about the brothers?" Edson looked out the window, where he could hear the noise of gang members playing cards downstairs.

"Fool! Back in the Chiapas rainforest, who dragged you out of the government army's guns? Now you want to risk your life for these scumbags? I only wanted to take you with me because I saw that you hadn't let me down this time!"

Edson's voice suddenly lowered: "But...but will they accept me?"

"It's just a matter of a word! Tomorrow night we can drink whiskey at the most upscale nightclub in Ginza. The women there are nowhere near as good as these high-dose bitches!"

Edson licked his chapped lips, about to speak, when the sound of tires crushing gravel suddenly came from outside the courtyard. Both men turned to look out the French windows; two beams of headlights pierced the night, casting flickering spots of light on the curtains. Rodrigo frowned, glancing at the antique clock on the wall: "It's only half past one, why so early?"

“I definitely didn’t send anyone. This should be the person you’re waiting for.” Edson subconsciously reached for his holster.

“Go greet them.” Rodrigo straightened his crumpled shirt collar and led the way to the entrance. As he passed through the living room, he glanced at his gang members playing Texas Hold’em, and their heavily tattooed arms froze in mid-air.

Edson cursed, "Shut the fuck up!" The entire space fell into a deathly silence.

The two walked across the carpeted corridor, Edson making one last check of the safety on his Colt pistol at his waist. He placed his hand on the brass doorknob and glanced back.

"Open the door," Rodrigo urged in a low voice.

Moonlight poured down like silver gauze, casting a tall, slender figure in the shadow of the porch pillars. His black bespoke suit gleamed like satin; he was a man wearing a white fox mask, his left hand resting on a long object at his waist.

Rodrigo squinted; it was a Japanese katana.

·
Gu Yi frowned: "Such a major event has actually occurred?"

Walker nodded. "That's right. The wreckage of four vehicles was found near the airport expressway, but the scene was completely cleaned up. According to the police report, the incident occurred around 12:00."

"Was it done by our people?"

"No, we have no operations in Mexico City today."

Gu Yi shook his head. "Should we move up our operation? I have a feeling something's wrong."

"Hey Hey hey!"

Vivian suddenly leaned half her body out of the window frame, shouting, "A car is hurtling toward the Venom Fang Gang's residence!"

The crowd quickly gathered at the window. In the darkness, the modified car's engine roared as it rolled across the road, performing a ninety-degree drift in front of the mansion. The car door popped open, and a tall figure stepped out. The car sped away again the instant it let him out.

Gu Yi's pupils constricted sharply: "Oh no! Something's happened!"

The glass shattered with a crash, his afterimage lingering in the moonlight, while his true form vanished into the turbulent air currents.

Vivian stamped her foot in frustration: "The knife! I didn't bring the knife!" Turning around, she saw that only the scabbard remained on the weapon rack.

Walker roared into the tactical radio: "Everyone to the scene immediately! Repeat, move out now!"

Vivian bit her lower lip, braced herself against the windowsill with one hand, and jumped down.

·
The buzzing sound of the blade slicing through the air was particularly jarring within the Time Zero Realm. The long blade was cleaving along a perfect arc, its edge trailing a golden halo as it moved at high speed.

Edson's remaining single eye had barely reflected the two points of molten gold beneath the mask when his entire body was split in two along the line between his brows. Before the blood mist could rise, the man wearing the white fox mask had already gripped Rodrigo's throat with his five long, slender fingers.

"save"

Rodrigo had barely uttered half a syllable when the golden eyes that had bulged from the gap in his mask shone down like searchlights. Rodrigo's entire body suddenly emitted a teeth-grinding grinding sound, and this man who had once struck fear into the hearts of drug lords throughout South America collapsed like a rag doll.

Gu Yi's blade struck at that moment.

The masked man seemed to have eyes on the back of his neck. His spinning movements were eerily fluid within Time Zero, and the clash of his longswords erupted with bluish-purple sparks. The instant their golden eyes met across the intersecting blades, Gu Yi's pupils contracted sharply—not surprise was reflected in the other's golden eyes, but rather a composed indifference.

Gu Yi suddenly felt his bones groan under the strain. This momentary opening was enough for the masked man to attack. He kicked the boy hard in the chest, and Gu Yi was sent flying backward as if struck by a battering ram.

Amidst the deafening roar of crumbling bricks, the sound of a modified car engine grew louder as it approached. The masked man grabbed Rodrigo and tossed him into the back seat like a sandbag, then leaped into the passenger seat himself. The car's blazing headlights traced a semicircle in the courtyard before speeding away.

"Oh shit!"

The moment Gu Yi sprang into action, the Chevrolet suddenly swerved and stopped beside him. Vivian practically jumped halfway out of the window, yelling, "Get in!"

Before he could finish speaking, Gu Yi had already appeared in the passenger seat in a blur. Sparks flew as the tires screeched against the ground, and the car roared as it launched itself forward.

“I can keep up, you talk to Walker first!” Vivian jerked the steering wheel with one hand and threw the tactical headset into Gu Yi’s arms with the other. The car almost tilted to the side as it made a sharp turn, smashing a roadside trash can to pieces.

Gu Yi had just put on his headphones when he heard a sharp, metallic clanging sound. He was a little nervous. "Senior sister, how's your driving?"

"Shut up!"

Vivian's eyes were fixed on the road ahead, and she pressed the accelerator pedal almost into the chassis. The Chevrolet sparked a series of fires as it changed lanes repeatedly, scraping against the guardrail.

Gu Yi glanced at the speedometer. He had originally planned to wear a seatbelt, but seeing the speed, he was afraid it would be useless.

"Team leader, I'll chase after them first, you guys catch up as soon as possible," Gu Yi said.

Walker's voice came through the earpiece: "Roger that, we'll get there as soon as possible, just delay them."

Gu Yi reached out and pressed the earpiece: "Received."

He turned to look at the road ahead, where the modified car's scarlet taillights flickered in the night. Vivian had been flooring the accelerator for a while, but the distance between the two cars remained the same.

"Senior sister, do you have a solution?"

"I did my best, junior brother!" Vivian swerved the steering wheel sharply, the Chevrolet almost scraping against a truck by the guardrail. Amid the screeching sound of metal scraping against metal, she bit her lower lip hard: "That car over there is ridiculously modified, listen to the sound! And that driver is very skilled, extremely skilled."

Gu Yi's golden eyes ignited with a molten gold-like flame in the darkness. "Senior sister, I have an idea. Wait a moment."

"What are you going to do?"

Before the words were even finished, the realm of time zero, like mercury spilling onto the ground, instantly enveloped the entire Chevrolet. The numbers on the dashboard remained unchanged, but the world outside the windshield seemed to be slowed down.

The Chevrolet, empowered by Time Zero, transformed into a silver lightning bolt, and the road in the rearview mirror twisted like tin foil crumpled by an invisible giant hand.

Three hundred meters, two hundred meters, one hundred meters! The modified taillights rapidly magnified in Vivian's vision.
