Chapter 70 Reconciliation
Fingel listened intently to the door for a few seconds before tiptoeing to open it. Concrete dust filled the corridor, and cracks appeared in the walls in the distance, clearly indicating that the impact of the dragons after the collapse of Nibelungen had caused considerable damage to the hotel.

He had just peeked out when a soft click came from the door of the opposite room. A girl in overalls was tiptoeing out, and the moment their eyes met, she jumped back half a step with a "whoosh."

"You...you're still here!" The girl gripped the notebook tightly, the Bluetooth earpiece on her earlobe gleaming faintly.

Fingel scratched the back of his head: "How about I go back and take another nap?"

"Click——"

Suddenly, the sound of a door opening came from the direction of the corridor camera. A woman staggered and shoved open the emergency exit door. Her black bodysuit was soaked in dark red, and many pieces of the fabric were torn open with long and short rips by a sharp object, revealing the rolled-up flesh underneath.

"Potato chips." She said hoarsely, leaning against the wall.

The girl nicknamed "Potato Chip" rushed forward to support her companion: "What happened to you? How did you get hurt like this?!"

"We've run into some tough nut to crack." The woman glanced at Fingel, her right hand instinctively reaching for the dagger hidden behind her waist. "Got the stuff, let's get out of here."

Su Enxi glanced at Fingel, who was shrinking back behind the door: "There's someone from Kassel here too. Will he let us go?"

"No, no, no!" Fingel raised his hands and stepped back. "I'm just in charge of the equipment. Do you think my biceps look like they're good for fighting? All the good fighters are out fighting now. There's no need to target me. Just leave."

Mai Shude's golden eyes flickered in the shadows, and her domain of ethereal light spread out like a black veil. The two figures began to become transparent, with only her hoarse voice echoing in the smoke: "Tell the young master of the Gattuso family... his marksmanship is still lacking."

Fingel sighed and moved along the wall toward the stairwell. The acrid smell in the air grew even more pungent, and as soon as he pushed open the fire door, a wave of heat hit him, whipping his disheveled hair across his forehead.

Concrete fragments were scattered across the steps, and the faint groans of twisting steel bars could be heard from below. He observed for a moment, then sprang forward like a cheetah, his boots lightly tapping the broken staircase three times before landing on the lower platform. The agility he displayed at that moment was completely different from his usual laziness.

"Damn it." He stopped in his tracks at the corner of the fourth floor.

Caesar carried Chu Zihang through the ruins, his golden hair glistening with tiny scabs of blood. Chu Zihang's eyes were closed, the bluish-gray scales from his bloody outburst receding to reveal paper-white skin. Each step they took left bloody footprints of varying depths, starkly contrasting against the scorched earth.

"Junior brother!" Fingel exclaimed.

Both pairs of golden eyes locked onto the source of the sound at the same time. After Caesar saw who it was, his tense body suddenly relaxed: "Give me a hand, he needs a tourniquet."

Fingel rushed down the steps, "What kind of enemy have you encountered!" He took Chu Zihang and saw that the front of his suit was soaked with dark red blood, and the white bone fragments were faintly visible in the wound where the muscle of his left calf was turned outward.

"That long-legged woman," Caesar gasped, clutching his bleeding ribs, "did you see her?"

"I ran into them upstairs. I guess they ran off with Amber."

"Okay, it's good that she didn't make things difficult for you."

Fingel adjusted Chu Zihang into a carrying position, then suddenly froze. "You're not angry that I let them escape?"

“I am primarily responsible for letting her escape; I failed to stop her.” Caesar glanced at Fingel’s hesitant expression and forced a pale smile. “With so many unexpected events this time, ensuring no casualties is a victory in itself.”

"President, you're so wise!" Fingel was deeply moved. "By the way, where's Gu Yi?"

Caesar shook his head. "I don't know, but he was probably fighting dragons just now."

"I knew it! I knew that roar was from a dragon. It was terrifying! The hotel shook like a major earthquake; I almost thought we were going to die." "Let's go look for Gu Yi outside. I have a feeling he and the dragon have left the building." With that, Caesar continued walking upstairs.

"Why get off from the other side? Why not just get off here?"

"Because you can't get down from here."

"Isn't this staircase leading to the same place?"

Fingel was speechless before the sight before him. At the corner of the third floor, charred remains of Deadpools lay scattered everywhere—a scene of utter carnage!

Fingel gasped: "You two did this together?"

Caesar shook his head. "No, he did it all by himself."

"Is the power of Bloodlust this strong?" Fingel glanced at the charred bones below. "Junior Brother, how many Dead Servants have you slaughtered? It's absolutely terrifying!"

"Bloodlust?" Caesar frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Fingel suddenly froze, then belatedly glanced at Chu Zihang's wrist, where the bruises hadn't faded: "Ahaha, this..."

"The power of the Lionheart Society." Chu Zihang's hoarse voice came from Fingel's shoulder; the aftereffects of the bloodbath made each word sound like swallowing shards of glass.

"Let's go." Caesar said nothing, but took the lead and walked upstairs.

As the three moved upwards across the gravel, Fingel casually asked, "What the president meant earlier... you fought that long-legged girl?"

“I encountered her first when I went to steal the amber. Just as we were fighting, the Japanese people I had tested before the auction suddenly attacked. We were forced to join forces for a while. In the end, she seized the opportunity to escape.”

"This doesn't make sense!" Fingel dodged the protruding steel bars against the wall. "Why would the Japanese branch attack us?"

“Don’t jump to conclusions.” Caesar turned his head. “They might not necessarily be from the Japanese branch. By the way, Fingel, do you know anything about the Japanese branch?”

"I really don't know about that."

"I remember you said you researched all the different departments before you were assigned a job after graduation, didn't you?"

“But the Japanese branch doesn’t accept foreign students at all!” Fingel said with a bitter face. “Although the Chinese branch is independent, it still goes with us on everything, big or small. The two sides are more like a confederation than allies. Moreover, both sides’ students were trained by Kassel, and they have a deep bond with each other. But the Japanese branch? They are basically completely independent. We know nothing about them, and they rarely send students to Kassel. At most, they send some exchange students.”

"Now that you mention it, it's true. There are very few Japanese students on campus." Caesar said thoughtfully. "I remember, in the combat class in September, wasn't the one Gu Yi beat up an exchange student from the Japanese branch?"

"You mean Shun Takahashi?" Fingel suddenly became excited. "That kid got beaten up terribly; he was an exchange student. But the most amazing one was that Japanese exchange student from 04 who even got the principal's scholarship."

The emergency exit gate swung open with a bang as Caesar slammed his shoulder into it, releasing a stench of decay mixed with gunpowder smoke. He suddenly stopped in his tracks. "He got a scholarship? What's his name?"

Fingel lifted Chu Zihang up a little: "I don't know. He didn't even leave a photo, let alone a name. He's always been very low-key."
