Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 449 The Prefect's Box and the Male Student Council President
Chapter 449 The Prefect's Box and the Male Student Council President
It's quite amazing, but the magazine that Ron thought was completely useless was a treasure to Fred and George. Before the train even arrived at the station, the two of them ran to Luna to ask how to subscribe to The Quibbler.
As previously agreed, Xilun went to the prefectural box at the very front in the afternoon.
It must be said that this room is indeed much larger than a regular private room, and each seat is covered with soft red velvet cushions.
When Siren arrived, Cedric was issuing tasks to several lower-year prefects.
"You can spend more time in the middle carriages. I've noticed a lot of first-year students there. Many of them are experiencing magic for the first time, and they're understandably a little uneasy being away from their parents. We can take extra care of them..."
“Spare me, Mr. Diggory,” Pansy Parkinson interrupted Cedric, complaining, “I have other things to do, I don’t have time to worry about those filthy muds… well, I mean those Muggle freshmen.”
Seeing Cedric's expression gradually turn stern, Pansy Parkinson quickly changed her tune.
“But that’s our job as prefects, Miss Parkinson.” Cedric looked at her, then at Malfoy beside him.
"If you're not willing, perhaps we can replace you with two new prefects who aren't afraid of the hassle."
"Don't try to scare us." Malfoy said with a grim face. "Even if you are the president of the male student council, you don't have the right to arbitrarily replace a prefect of a college."
“You’re right, I really can’t,” Cedric said. “But Headmaster Dumbledore can, and I’d be happy to pass on this request to him.”
Malfoy was speechless, and his face turned even uglier.
"Ah, okay..." After a long while, he finally said, "Who told you to be the president of the boys' student council? We're leaving Pansy, and those poor little things need us to take care of them."
The two turned and left.
Then, the Slytherin prefects of the sixth and seventh years also left.
As he passed by Siron, Malfoy opened his mouth as if to say something, but then held back. He walked straight past as if he hadn't seen anything.
"Thank goodness, I thought he was going to cause you trouble." At this moment, Cedric finished assigning tasks to the other prefects and walked over.
"The male student council president?" Siren asked.
"Ah, I just received the badge a few days ago." Cedric glanced somewhat embarrassedly at the area on his chest.
There was a badge there, similar in style to Harry's prefecture badge, but it was silver, and the letter in the middle was not 'P', but a capital 'H', representing Hogwarts.
“A very wise choice,” Celen said with a smile.
Since Cedric didn't die, no one in the entire seventh grade is more suitable to be the student council president.
“But I get the feeling that your work isn’t going very well,” Siron said, glancing back in the direction the Slytherin prefects had gone.
“Yes, there are bound to be some minor troubles.” Cedric let out a soft sigh, “but I had already anticipated this, and I can handle it.”
It was clear that Cedric really wanted to talk to Sirendor, but he was too busy; prefects kept coming to him.
It wasn't that anyone was fighting with anyone else; it was that someone was setting off fireworks in the train carriage, and the lifelike fireworks lion scared two first-year students to tears.
Although none of them were major issues, there were so many of them that Cedric could only apologize to Siron again and again before turning around to deal with those minor troubles.
During this time, Siron also met Hermione and Harry... or rather, Hermione came the most often. Later on, Siron felt that Cedric was even a little afraid to see her.
Looking at Cedric, who was busy and overwhelmed, Celen couldn't help but recall the Weasley brothers' famous quote: "Only a fool would want to be a prefect or the student council president."
That makes a lot of sense.
The train seemed to have entered a deep tunnel, and at one moment, it suddenly became dark outside the window. It started raining again, the raindrops pattering against the dirty window, just like the bad weather they experienced every year when school started.
When the ceiling lights came on, Siron also left the prefectural box.
Half an hour later, the train gradually slowed down.
"Keep order, don't push or shove the people in front of you," Siren shouted as he saw Hermione, then hurried across the corridor ahead.
Unfortunately, not many people listened to her. The surroundings remained chaotic and noisy as people carried owl cages or other pet cages out of the private compartment, preparing to get off the bus.
The corridor became increasingly crowded.
Xilun slowly moved forward with the crowd, got off the bus, and arrived at the platform.
The night air stung my face slightly, and the scent of grass mixed with earth filled the air.
A familiar oil lamp appeared overhead.
“First-year students, come here…first-year students…” Hagrid shouted.
"Long time no see, Siron," he said. "How was your holiday?"
“Not bad,” Xilun said.
"That's good." Hagrid casually pulled a newborn who was stuck in the mud out of the water. "We'll talk later. I need to get them to the other side of the lake before the rain gets any heavier. This damn weather... why does it always rain at this time of year?"
That's a good question; that's what Xilun wanted to know too.
Fortunately, he didn't have to walk back to the castle in the rain.
On the other side, there were more than a hundred horse-drawn carriages.
Fred, George, and Lee had already chosen their carriage, and after Celen got in, the wheels began to turn with a creaking sound.
The carriages lined up and swayed through the school grounds gate, then followed the muddy path to the castle gate, stopping in front of the stone steps leading to the oak gate.
As usual, Pippi was waiting for them in the foyer, but this year it had a new trick up its sleeve. Instead of throwing water balloons, it used vinegar.
Peeves laughed loudly and threw the balloons down towards the crowd. Although Professor McGonagall quickly came and chased it away, a strong sour smell still filled the hallway.
“I bet it went to Hufflepuff’s common room,” Lee Jordan said with a look of disgust.
"There was a row of large wooden barrels at the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. If you went in the wrong way, a lot of vinegar would gush out of those barrels... It tasted exactly like it does now, I remember it very clearly."
"You've been to Hufflepuff's common room?" Fred asked, looking over.
“You have to give it a try, just in case it works,” Lee Jordan said with a smile.
“Remember to call us next time,” George said.
"No problem at all."
