Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 448 Singing a Different Tune
Chapter 448 Singing a Different Tune
"Merlin's beard, why did I agree to that?"
Standing at the door of the private room, Xilun rubbed his forehead in frustration.
Perhaps because Fred and George were giving her a headache, Celen agreed to help them borrow the magazines, and then came with Ron.
"Are you really not familiar with the Lovegood family?" he asked. "After all, you all live together."
“That’s not quite right. Saint Catchpol Village is quite large,” Ron said after thinking for a moment. “Of course, Dad definitely knows Mr. Lovegood, but we… well, apart from Ginny, we’re not really that familiar with Luna.”
As he spoke, he casually opened the door to the private room.
Then Xilun saw a dark green, sticky substance flash past his eyes, spraying onto the ceiling and windows of the private room like a high-pressure water gun.
Siren instinctively took a step back, his hand in his pocket gripping the silver-maned wand tightly. A hat flew over from the side, blocking the strange liquid that was splashing everywhere.
But Ron wasn't so quick to react. Before he could figure out what was happening, he was sprayed all over his face.
Then, a smell comparable to the explosion of a dung bomb began to spread rapidly.
"I'm—I'm sorry!"
Neville, the culprit behind all this, was holding a potted plant that looked like a cactus and was almost in tears.
His face and body were covered in foul-smelling liquid, but he didn't bother to wipe it off; he just kept apologizing.
“This is Mibumibao… I’ve never tried it before, I didn’t know it would be like this… But don’t worry, the stinky juice isn’t poisonous.” He added anxiously as he saw Ron squatting on the ground vomiting.
“I think what he cares about isn’t whether the stench is poisonous,” Xiren said, while returning the borrowed hat to the other man.
The man was looking at him with a blank expression.
“Sorry—oh, Cedric.” Siren hadn’t expected the other person to be an acquaintance.
"It's alright, it's just a little bit of stinky juice." Coming to his senses, Cedric calmly took his hat and cleaned it off with a flick of his wand.
He was actually more concerned about Xilun's reaction earlier.
Wow, that was fast! He didn't even see the other person take out a wand, nor did he hear any incantation being chanted, before the hat flew past.
“I didn’t see you in the prefect’s box.” He glanced at Siron again and said, “I remember you should be able to go to the prefect’s box.”
“I didn’t go,” Xilun said. “The smaller private rooms are more lively.”
“That’s true, the atmosphere there is indeed a bit too somber.” Cedric nodded in agreement. “It’s a real shame, I was thinking of inviting you over.”
“That’s alright,” Xiren said. “If it’s just a short visit, it’s fine. But we’ll have to wait a bit; I have something to do.”
“Of course, no problem,” Cedric said.
After they left, Xilun turned his attention back to the private room.
“Shillon, are you here to see Harry?” Ginny asked, waving her wand to clean up the stench. “They went to patrol the front corridor and might not be back for a while.”
“Oh, no, I’m not looking for Harry,” Siron said, turning to Luna. “It’s like this, I’d like to buy a copy of *The Quibbler*. If you have any extras, could you sell me one?”
He took out the three silver sieves that the Weasley brothers had given him.
“Sorry, Siren, I only have one copy too,” Luna said. “But I can lend it to you.”
She handed the magazine in her hand to Xiren.
At first, Xilen thought she had held it upside down, but she quickly realized that the magazine's cover and contents were reversed... The name was quite fitting, to be honest. "If you lend it to me, what will you read?"
"It's okay, I have more." Luna opened her small bag, which was full of magazines, about a dozen of them.
“Didn’t you say there was only one copy?” Xiren asked.
“Yes,” Luna nodded. “There’s only one new book; these are all older ones.”
"Although I've read it many times, it's still fun to revisit it occasionally." Luna pulled out another magazine and began reading it with great interest.
“These can be lent to your friends if they like,” she said, peeking half her head out from behind the magazine.
“Thank you, I will pass it on to them,” Celen said.
Before heading back, he glanced with some pity at Ron, who was still squatting there retching... It seemed like some foul-smelling liquid had splashed into his mouth.
tsk...
After he returned to the box, Fred and George immediately rushed over, took the copy of "The Quibbler," and started reading and shouting.
"Look at this... the corruption within the Quidditch League: how the Tornadoes wreak havoc."
“This one’s not bad either, Barty Crouch—a disgraceful traitor or an innocent pop star?” George read aloud from the magazine:
“People haven’t realized that Barty Crouch is just an alias,” Mrs. Perkis said. “The person people think is Barty Crouch is actually the lead singer of a Muggle rock band. The Directorate of Magical Cooperation is just a cover for his identity. On the day the Death Eaters broke out, he was actually giving a solo concert at Wembley Stadium…”
Xilen rubbed his ears, and suddenly he understood Ron a little better.
What was George just saying? A Muggle rock band's lead singer using this as a cover to pretend to be the Director of International Magical Cooperation at the Ministry of Magic?
Was that really just a sentence?
Even George himself fell into a moment of contemplation.
"Does anyone know who Mrs. Perkis is?" Siren asked in a low voice.
“I know,” Lee Jordan said. “I have an uncle who works in the Reversal of Chance Events group. He came to visit us once and mentioned Mrs. Perkis during our conversation.”
"She's supposedly an old witch, over 150 years old, who lives on Thornlea Road in Little Norton and is quite senile, often revealing her magic to Muggles. My uncle even complained that they used to go to Little Norton three times a day. Of course, they don't need to anymore."
"Why?" Fred asked curiously, "Did they finally give in and arrest Mrs. Perkins?"
“No,” Lee Jordan said. “Mrs. Perkis is more confused. She has completely forgotten that she is a wizard and how to cast spells.”
"..."
Xilun raised an eyebrow. How could someone like this be taken as evidence? Sure enough, there was a reason why so many people disliked this magazine.
But Fred and George didn't seem to mind at all; on the contrary, their eyes grew brighter and brighter.
"That's a really novel perspective."
"This idea is brilliant! How come I never thought of it before?"
"I must subscribe to this magazine!"
