Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 290 Reverse Magic Rune

Chapter 290 Reverse Magic Rune
Diagon Alley.

As Siron pushed open the door of Ollivander's Wand Shop, the familiar bell rang in his ears.

“Welcome… Oh, Siron, and Remus!” Garrick Ollivander peeked out from behind the counter and realized that the people who came were not first-year students who came to buy wands, but Siron and Lupin.

“I was just wondering yesterday when you guys would be back,” Garrick asked with a smile. “How are you feeling? Anything you’ve learned?”

“Of course, and the gains were quite substantial,” Siren said.

"What is it?"

“About the runes on the staff.” Xiren looked into his gray eyes and raised an eyebrow. “Now I know where you got your inspiration.”

What kind of magical script? Inspiration?

Behind Xiren, Lupin stood there blankly, feeling like he couldn't quite understand what they were saying.

When Siren was in Egypt, wasn't he observing hand gesture magic at the magic arena? And they were talking about it just before he came back. How come it's suddenly turned into wands and inspiration now?
“Actually, this is what I was really doing a few days ago.” Xiren noticed Lupin’s confusion and explained with a smile, “You must remember the first time we saw hand gesture magic, right?”

Lupin nodded. Of course he remembered that when Siren only looked at it once, he understood the principle of hand gesture magic. Not only him, but even Bill, who was with him, was amazed.

"Then you must also remember me saying that when local wizards use hand gestures to cast spells, they make a special 'charging' gesture every few times, right?"

“I remember.” Lupin nodded again, then added, “But the real name for that action is ‘Enchanting,’ not ‘Charging.’”

"The meaning is the same, that's fine." Xilun waved his hand and said nonchalantly, "If you break down their... well, the process of enchanting magic into detailed magic runes, you'll find that it's actually no different from the magic runes we engrave on the staff."

"That's why I was able to immediately connect hand gesture magic with runes... I'm so familiar with those runes that I can recognize even a small part of them."

"Then a thought popped into my head: if it were the other way around, would it be the same?"

"The other way around?" Lu Ping frowned slightly, seemingly lost in thought.

“It’s about deducing the corresponding spell through gestures,” Xiren continued. “I’ve noticed that gesture magic is different from ours; there are no fixed wrist movements or incantations. How to cast it depends entirely on the wizard’s habits.”

"Different hand gestures, when broken down in detail, will form different magical symbols, and the process of imbuing magic is the same."

"I've obtained several different combinations of magic runes in the past few days, and perhaps one of them is even better than the one I have now."

“That would be great if that were the case,” Garrick said with a laugh. “To be honest, I thought you’d have to go a few more times to do that.”

“We were definitely in a bit of a rush this time,” Siren shrugged. “If we wait until the second half of the duel, we’ll definitely see more and more complex hand gesture magic.”

“I’m sorry.” At this moment, Lupin suddenly said, “After Sirius’s first hearing, I can accompany you to Egypt again, and this time I won’t accept any payment.”

“No, Professor Lupin, you’ve misunderstood,” Celen said. “Even without you coming with me, I would have come back today. After all, I know the saying ‘don’t bite off more than you can chew.’ Now is good too. I can take advantage of the holiday to try out all those combinations.”

While Siron and Lupin were talking, Garrick stood by and watched them until Lupin was about to leave, at which point he took out a pre-prepared box from behind the counter.

“Mr. Lupin, here are the remaining six bottles of wolfsbane potion.” Garrick stepped forward. “We agreed beforehand that you would pay for six bottles first, and the rest would be returned to their rightful owner once you returned.”

“No, I can’t accept any more,” Lupin declined. “I haven’t been of much help on this journey, and accepting six bottles of valuable wolfsbane potion already makes me very uneasy.” “We agreed on this beforehand,” Ollivander said, waving his hand so the box would land steadily in Lupin’s hands.

Lupin wanted to decline, but just then, a little witch walked over. She looked like a freshman this year, and she was accompanied by an old acquaintance.

“Remus, it’s a pleasure to see you here.” Professor Flitwick walked over quickly and patted Lupin’s leg.

“Good afternoon, Felius,” Lupin said. “Are you here to maintain your wand?”

"Maintaining a wand? Of course not, I can do that myself, there's no need for me to make an extra trip," Professor Flitwick said. "I'm here to buy things for the new student, she's a young wizard from a Muggle family and isn't familiar with Diagon Alley."

Typically, when students from Muggle families receive their Hogwarts acceptance letters, professors will proactively visit their parents to explain that Hogwarts and magic are real, and that the acceptance letter is not a trick.

In addition, they will accompany freshmen to Diagon Alley to buy things they need for the new semester.

Because the number of new students is not very large, this job is usually done by professors on a rotating basis. This year it just so happens to be Professor Flitwick's turn and Professor Sinister, who teaches astronomy.

By the way, Defense Against the Dark Arts doesn't count. The professor for that course changes every year, so there's no need for them to help out extra.

So it's normal that Lupin didn't know.

Professor Flitwick then led the timid little witch into the wand shop.

Seeing Garrick skillfully take out a measuring tape, Siron realized that this year's Hogwarts acceptance letters had already been sent out.

“Your letter has arrived too, it’s on your desk in your room,” Garrick said to Siren when he had a moment. “You can go take a look, and while you’re at it, buy all the new textbooks you need.”

“Okay,” Xilun said.

But instead of going upstairs, he pushed open the shop door and went straight to the main street of Diagon Alley.

Xilun looked around and quickly found Lupin, who hadn't gone far, and then jogged after him.

"Wait a minute, Professor Lupin."

Lupin stopped and looked back.

"Sirlen, is there something you need?" He suddenly remembered something and quickly handed over the box in his hand. "You're here to get this, right? I..."

"No, no, no." Xilun waved his hands repeatedly, deliberately exaggerating his tone, "I don't want to use this stuff, you should take it all."

"Ah, indeed, it's best not to use it." Lupin chuckled. "So, what did you want to see me about?"

“That’s right.” Xiren thought for a moment and asked, “Professor Lupin, do you know any other werewolves?”
