Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 270 The Brave Loyalty Curse
Chapter 270 The Brave Loyalty Curse
Silen actually knew very well where the Black family's old house was located, because he clearly remembered that there seemed to be a portrait of Sirius's mother inside, who was particularly fond of swearing.
There was also a very old house-elf named Kreacher, who particularly disliked Sirius Black, his nominal master.
The Horcrux he desired most was also in that house.
But he just couldn't remember exactly where it was.
It seems that some kind of magic is affecting his memory... Just like a Muggle facing a banishment curse, every time he tries to go there, he changes his mind at the last minute for various reasons and goes somewhere else instead.
The same goes for Siron; whenever he tries to recall the location of the Black family's old mansion, he subconsciously thinks of other things.
This is the effect of the Loyalty Spell, and also the most magical aspect of this spell... Unless the person keeping the secret tells you in person, it's useless even if you get the address through other means.
Therefore, Sirius's decision twelve years ago was completely unnecessary. As long as he kept his mouth shut, the Potter family would have been invincible. There was no need to go through the trouble of replacing the secret agent.
Of course, if the secret agent hadn't been changed, that protracted magical war wouldn't have ended so quickly... so it's hard to say whether the decision was right or wrong.
Xilun shook his head, no longer thinking about things from over a decade ago.
The moment he saw the parchment, his previously hazy memories instantly became clear.
He remembered the location at number 12 Grimmauld Place, which was in London and very close to King's Cross Station, a walk of no more than twenty minutes.
"So this is Sirius Black's advance payment?" Sirius frowned slightly as he looked at the parchment in his hand.
There's no reason for it. Their agreement was to help Sirius clear his name, but now he's just been taken away by the Ministry of Magic. Until both hearings are over, nobody knows whether he will be acquitted.
Is Sirius really that confident?
Or was this payment he made in advance?
Siren stared at the parchment for a while longer, then folded it up and put it in his pocket.
In any case, he certainly won't suffer a loss, and knowing the address, he can go and get that thing inside anytime... even if Sirius is imprisoned in Azkaban again.
However, this is unlikely to happen.
It was one thing before, but now that the truth of everything has come to light, Dumbledore won't just stand by and watch Fudge act recklessly.
But that has nothing to do with him.
……
Following Quirinus Quirrell and Gilderoy Lockhart, Professor Lupin finally succumbed to the curse of Defense Against the Dark Arts and left the school in disgrace at the end of the school year.
Compared to the previous two, his ending was quite good. He was also the fourth Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in the last fifty years who was neither sent to Azkaban nor carried into St. Mungo's.
The only troublesome thing, the howling letter, was avoided because he resigned early.
Filch eventually dealt with all those shouting messages. No one knows exactly how he did it, but for a long time afterward, Filch became much less perceptive. Even if someone spoke loudly next to him, he seemed not to hear them at all.
Many people thought Filch had finally stopped targeting students and began to celebrate excitedly.
In short, everyone was enjoying the most precious holiday of the year until the report cards came out.
The exam results came out at the end of the semester.
To everyone's surprise, they discovered that one of their grades had become exceptionally high, at least much better than in the previous two years.
"Defense Against the Dark Arts! I got an E (better than expected)!" Seamus Finnigan exclaimed excitedly, holding his report card. "My best grade before was only an A (pass)." "That's because Professor Lupin's classes are very interesting," Hermione said as she walked over. "He always manages to help you remember everything in the simplest and most effective way. Your grades are bound to improve."
Only then did everyone finally remember Professor Lu Ping, who always wore tattered clothes.
"If only he weren't a werewolf," Neville whispered.
He got an A in Defense Against the Dark Arts, which was the only subject he passed besides Herbalism.
They all wanted to keep Professor Lupin, but many more students and parents disagreed, a sentiment that even Headmaster Dumbledore couldn't change, let alone the third-year students.
"I wonder what kind of assignment they'll give us next year!" Simon Finigan said dejectedly.
"Maybe it's a vampire," Dean Thomas said dreamily. "We already have werewolves, so it's not surprising that a vampire would appear, right?"
"Vampires can't go out during the day, do you want to go to class every night?" Hermione said irritably. "Besides, there are no vampires in England!"
“Oh, maybe.” Dean Thomas shrugged indifferently.
He was just joking; he didn't actually want a vampire professor.
On the other side of the common lounge, Xiren also received his results.
He had seven O's, two E's, and one A's, which made him the second-highest scorer in the entire grade.
The first place naturally belongs to Hermione. She took twelve courses this year, and all of them except for Divination were O's, making her the undisputed number one in her grade.
The only one who could surpass her was Percy Weasley in seventh grade.
He achieved the highest score in this year's NEWT (Ultimate Wizarding Exam), a score that would be enough for him to get his dream job at the Ministry of Magic.
Fred and George's OWL results are out too. They weren't as impressive as Percy's, but they still got some points, enough to barely keep up with Mrs. Weasley...maybe.
To be honest, Xilun felt that they had spent too much time and energy this year on making money and researching quick-fix truancy drugs. Their results were not good at all, and even worse than Ron's. At least Ron had an O, but they didn't have one.
When Celen told Fred and George the news, the two were thunderstruck.
They can accept poor grades because that's not what they're after.
But to be worse than Ron is a bit hard to accept.
“That’s OWL…” Fred pursed his lips, trying to find a reasonable excuse.
"Much harder than a regular final exam..."
“I dare say that by the time Ron is in fifth grade, he won’t get a single O.”
"Our results are actually not bad."
"You can get three certificates!"
“Yes, I believe you,” Celen said with a smile, “but whether Mrs. Weasley believes me, I don’t know.”
