Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 252 The Familiar Wand
Chapter 252 The Familiar Wand
With just one word from Dumbledore, Hogwarts immediately became a busy place.
Especially those students who kept mice as pets, they looked at their pets with great suspicion, as if they were afraid that the next second their pets would turn into a bald, short wizard in front of them.
But they were clearly overthinking it. There aren’t many wizards who can learn Animagus transformation, and even fewer who happen to be rats. How could a second one possibly appear?
While everyone else was busy at work, Ron sat blankly in the Gryffindor common room.
Hermione stood beside him, glancing occasionally toward the direction of the boys' dormitory upstairs.
“So you mean…” Ron turned his head stiffly and asked, “The little star Peter we’ve been looking for is actually Scabbers?”
“Yes, I’ve said it twice already.” Hermione nodded. “I know you might not believe me, but I saw it with my own eyes. He turned into a mouse and ran away in front of everyone.”
“You must be joking!” Ron said in a shrill voice. “Scabbers can’t be Peter Pettigrew, you know, he’s been in my house for years.”
“Twelve years, right? Can an ordinary mouse live that long?” Hermione said.
"That's because...we took good care of you."
"Is that really okay?" Hermione scoffed. "Didn't you always say that Percy didn't like Scabbers and often forgot to feed him?"
"Also, you often feed Banban your leftovers, but not all of those things are actually suitable for mice."
“I…I don’t feed Banban everything…” Ron said, but he sounded a little unsure of himself.
“She’s right, Ron.” Harry came down from upstairs at that moment. “And the professors saw it too, which is why Headmaster Dumbledore decided to check everyone’s pet mice.”
“Harry…” Hermione looked at Harry coming down from upstairs with a worried expression on her face.
If anyone had more complicated feelings than Ron at this moment, it would definitely be Harry.
He also witnessed Peter Pettigrew running away.
The line "The master is waiting for you" directly reveals that Peter Pettigrew was the informant.
Blake is innocent.
What Harry found even harder to accept was that Scabbers had lived in the same dormitory as him for three years.
So when Peter Pettigrew ran away, Harry rushed out without a second thought.
But how could he possibly catch a mouse that had scurried into the bushes, especially with so many Dementors blocking his view?
So after he came back, he locked himself in his dormitory and ignored everyone.
"Harry...you, you're alright?"
“I don’t know.” Harry shook his head, a wry smile on his face.
"I finally found out the truth, but the culprit escaped, and right in front of everyone..."
Harry sat there.
He seemed to be trying to force a smile to reassure Hermione and Ron, but he couldn't.
The thought that Peter Pettigrew, who should have been on trial, had run away again filled him with a surge of burning anger.
Harry sat there, watching people come and go, chatting and laughing, seemingly treating the event as a very interesting activity.
The Weasley brothers also made a bet with Lee Jordan that the mouse was definitely not in the castle, but in the Forbidden Forest.
Then they discussed how to bypass the professor and get into the Forbidden Forest.
“If only we had known sooner, someone would have helped Peter Pettigrew.” Harry sighed softly. “The Aurors and Headmaster Dumbledore were there. If we had known sooner, he certainly wouldn’t have been able to escape.”
“Yes,” Ron said quietly, “but Harry, how could we possibly know things that even Dumbledore doesn’t?”
Harry didn't say anything. He knew Ron was right, but he just couldn't help thinking it.
“No, we can,” Hermione suddenly said.
“You’re kidding, Hermione!” Ron turned around and looked at her in surprise. “I know you want to comfort Harry, and I do, but you can’t…” “Shut up, Ron.” Hermione interrupted him rudely, then grabbed Harry’s arm and pulled him out.
"This is not the place to talk. Come with me."
Just as Ron was about to give chase, Ginny came running up to him.
"Ron, where's your mouse?"
“Oh, don’t mention Scabbers to me!” Ron said angrily.
But when he turned back, Hermione and Harry had already left the common room.
As soon as the two left, they encountered Dumbledore in the corridor.
"Principal..." Hermione took a small step back, feeling a little guilty, and her eyes unconsciously looked away.
“Oh, hello, Miss Granger,” said Dumbledore, glancing at Harry.
"I'm so sorry, Harry."
“No, Professor Dumbledore, this has nothing to do with you,” Harry said, shaking his head.
Dumbledore single-handedly held off over a hundred Dementors, so how could he blame them for not keeping an eye on Peter Pettigrew?
"Where are you going?" Dumbledore asked, but before the two could speak, he clapped his hands lightly, as if he had just remembered something very important.
"Excuse me, could you do me a favor?" He took out a wand. "This is the wand that the mysterious wizard gave to Peter. We need to find a professional to examine it; perhaps we can find some useful clues."
“I was going to see Mr. Ollivander, but I just received an urgent notice that I must go to the Ministry of Magic immediately to participate in Sirius Black’s interrogation. So, could you do it for me?”
“No problem, leave it to us.” Before Hermione could refuse, Harry blurted out and took the wand from Dumbledore.
"Thank you," said Dumbledore. "These three hours have been quite eventful; so much has happened."
As he spoke, he left down the stairs, leaving only the two of them standing there.
“Wait a minute.” Harry looked at the wand in his hand. “Should we take it to Diagon Alley?”
“How could that be? The person Headmaster Dumbledore was talking about is obviously Sherren. If it were Mr. Ollivander from Diagon Alley, he wouldn’t have asked us for help,” Hermione said, glancing anxiously at the time.
"Alright, we'd better find Xilun quickly."
Then, the two of them went downstairs.
Fortunately, there were many students and professors in the castle at that time. They asked around and soon found Siron eating in the auditorium.
"Are you hungry too?" Siren pointed to the mountain of sandwiches, fried eggs, and grilled sausages piled on the large plate.
"This is lunch prepared by the kitchen. It's not very lavish, but it tastes good, and you can come and eat anytime."
Harry and Hermione weren't hungry at first, but the smell of bread and grilled sausages instantly made them feel hungry.
It was almost noon when the Quidditch match ended, and I've been busy with various things ever since, so I'm definitely hungry.
Without realizing it, they reached out, grabbed a sandwich, and stuffed it into their mouths.
Fortunately, Harry didn't forget the important matter.
He handed the wand to Siron.
“This is the wand that helped Peter Pettigrew escape,” Harry said, suddenly losing his appetite and putting down the half-eaten sandwich.
"Headmaster Dumbledore thought it might be useful and asked me to give it to you."
“Is that so?” Siron picked up his wand.
Then, his fingers stiffened slightly.
Because it's the wand he made!
