Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 251 Peter the Pettigrew is Rescued
Chapter 251 Peter the Pettigrew is Rescued
Despite feeling that the chances were slim, Professor Lupin eventually led Harry to the headmaster's office.
"I can't guarantee that I can convince the principal and the minister; I can only try my best."
After saying that, he told Harry to wait outside and went up the spiral staircase behind the gargoyle stone beast by himself.
There was nothing Harry could do but wait outside.
Two hours passed, but there was still no movement behind the dripping stone beast.
Harry paced back and forth anxiously.
“Don’t worry, Harry, they can’t stop Sirius Black from seeing him,” Hermione comforted him.
“Thank you, Hermione.” Harry forced a smile. “But you’d better get back to the common room quickly. The professors know I’m here, but they don’t know you haven’t gone back either. You’ll be in trouble if they find out.”
“In fact, there was no one in the portrait at the entrance to the common room,” Hermione said. “That means no one could open the entrance at that point, and I was trapped outside.”
“What should we do then?” Harry frowned. “You should get out of here quickly and find an empty classroom to hide in, at least so that the professors don’t see you.”
Hermione accepted Harry's suggestion; she had the same idea.
As she was leaving, Hermione glanced at the black cat on the railing with a puzzled look.
For some reason, she felt the cat looked familiar, as if she'd seen it somewhere before. But she'd never heard of anyone having a black pet cat. Could it be from another college?
Just then, a noise came from the stairs behind the dripping stone beast. Hermione could only suppress her doubts and quickly leave.
Meanwhile, the cat jumped even further away.
Siren watched from a distance, two corridors away.
Fudge was still walking in front, with Dumbledore beside him, and the two were talking.
They were too far away for Xilun to hear what they were saying, but judging from their expressions, they seemed to be arguing.
Then, the Aurors brought out Black and Peter under their control.
The two floated in mid-air, their bodies curled up, with only their arms outstretched and pointing backward.
As soon as they entered the corridor, Harry immediately went up to them.
But the next second, he was stopped by two Aurors. Professor Lupin walked over quickly behind him, wanting to say something, but Harry was still pushed aside by the Aurors.
Fudge showed no intention of lingering, quickly descending the stairs and leaving the castle.
The Dementors outside all stirred, as if they were about to pounce and give Sirius Black a kiss at any moment.
This was also what Fudge was thinking. As long as Sirius died, the trouble would be over. He would still be the escaped criminal, Peter Pettigrew would still be the hero, and nothing would change.
For him, no change was the best outcome.
But it won't work...
All the teachers and students at Hogwarts heard what that idiot Peter Pettigrew said, and Fudge was sure that the Daily Prophet would receive the news soon.
After all, a castle can only keep students inside, but it can't keep owls inside.
If Sirius Black were to suddenly die at this point, and his soul were sucked away by the Dementors during the transfer, it would be tantamount to directly telling everyone that he was guilty and wanted to cover up the truth.
Therefore, Sirius Black absolutely cannot be harmed and must be delivered to the Ministry of Magic intact.
Fudge walked down the stone steps at the entrance, where a carriage with only a sidecar was already waiting.
He boarded the carriage first, waiting for Auror to bring Black and Peter in before the carriage could set off back to London.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The Dementor in mid-air, for some unknown reason, suddenly charged forward like a madman.
"Back off! Back off!" The Aurors waved their wands frantically, but things happened too fast for them to cast their Patronus Charms.
Fortunately, at that moment, a silver phoenix flew in from behind. Wherever it passed, the Dementors let out painful howls and scattered rapidly in all directions like headless flies... The scene was in complete chaos.
However, when the Aurors turned around and saw Dumbledore standing there with his wand, they all breathed a slight sigh of relief, and at the same time, an indescribable sense of security welled up in their hearts.
Even as the Dementors flew right past them, they weren't worried at all.
They hadn't felt this way in a long time since they became Aurors.
However, no one expected that things were not over yet. Just as the Aurors relaxed, a figure wearing a black hood appeared out of thin air on the field. As if he had been prepared, he suddenly waved his wand and released Peter Pettigrew from his restraints in the blink of an eye.
At the same time, something landed nearby.
That was a magic wand.
“Peter! Your master is waiting for you!” the man said in a hoarse voice.
Without any hesitation, Peter Pettigrew, who had regained his mobility, immediately grabbed his wand and pointed it at his forehead.
"Collapse!"
"Confinement quickly!"
A series of spells flew toward Peter Pettigrew, but by then he had successfully transformed into a mouse. The spells grazed his head and landed on the grass behind him.
The Aurors immediately wanted to give chase, but a Dementor that was running in the dark blocked their way. In that moment of delay, the rat had already disappeared into the bushes.
Looking up again, the hooded wizard who had been standing there was gone; all that could be seen was a black plume of smoke drifting further and further away in the air.
A silence that pounded against our eardrums.
This was probably something no one expected. First, the Dementors suddenly went on a rampage for no apparent reason, and then someone rescued the prisoners who were under the strict guard of the Aurors and Dumbledore right under their noses.
Fudge sat blankly in the carriage, his face ashen.
“I’m sorry, Cornelius,” Dumbledore was the first to break the eerie atmosphere, his voice very soft. “My attention was just on the Dementors—there were so many of them that I had to be completely focused to make sure none escaped.”
"But that also prevented me from spotting the hidden guy immediately."
“Of course, Albus, I understand completely.” Fudge’s voice was dry.
That's all he can say right now.
Otherwise, if Dumbledore has to deal with the Dementor riots and the sudden appearance of unknown wizards, what are the Aurors doing, just watching from the sidelines?
Fudge eventually left, taking Sirius Black and two Aurors with him, while the remaining Aurors stayed at Hogwarts to search for Peter Pettigrew.
Although Fudge knew very well that they were unlikely to find the mouse, this was all he could do for the time being.
“Truly—wonderful,” Snape drawled from the professors. “This is the Ministry of Magic…”
"Should we help them?" Professor McGonagall asked.
At that moment, Dumbledore was looking with great interest in the direction where the hooded wizard had disappeared. After hearing Professor McGonagall's words, he nodded slightly.
“Of course we should help, and we should do our best,” he said. “Mileva, I think the students can come out now. This is a school, not Azkaban. We can’t keep them locked up forever.”
“Okay, I’ll go right away.” Professor McGonagall nodded. “But what about the Aurors? Who will go and help them?”
“Let’s all go together, let all the students go together,” Dumbledore said. “Hasn’t Peter been pretending to be Mr. Weasley’s pet all along?”
"Then let's start by looking at their pets... There are quite a few students who like pet mice, so this is obviously a troublesome task."
