Chapter 493 Lord and Demon

Chapter 493 Lord and Demon

Ruger was naturally familiar with this voice. Even though he had only heard it twice, it left a deep impression on him. This girl was also a bit strange. When others roared, she laughed. When other demon lords fought up there, she came down and strolled around.

The strength of demon lords varies greatly and is difficult to judge, let alone a half-baked lord like this.

However, Ruger felt that a good show was about to begin.

I wonder what level that guy standing with the old demon is at, and whether he's on par with this arriving demon lord.

Ruger naturally didn't risk investigating the mysterious person, and didn't even get a clear look at the other person's figure. He just roughly judged the other person's position and height by the old demon's back and movements, and then hid in a corner to listen in for a few words.

Strange demons, strange people, a strange demon lord, and this strange cave.

Ruge and Mahama retreated cautiously, each step a slow lift and gentle fall.

The noisy footsteps clearly indicated that many demons were approaching together.

Did this demon lord bring a large retinue with him?

Ruger remembered the demons that had come down with the two of them, such as the two-headed demon.

More likely, these guys have already knelt before the demon lord, and now it's the sound of their footsteps. They might even be like Mahama, serving as temporary mounts for that lord, choosing to pledge allegiance to a new lord. All of this is for survival, which is understandable.

As the chaotic footsteps drew closer, Ruge and Mahama became increasingly cautious.

A major battle is about to break out, but they are not the main characters here. Their task is simply to prevent either side from noticing the conflict before it occurs.

Ruger turned around and made a few simple gestures.

Mahama thought for a moment, understood, and nodded.

Ruger's meaning was simple: if they were discovered, they would see which demons were following the Demon Lord. If they had come down with the Demon Lord, the two of them could swear allegiance and become minor followers. If they were all unfamiliar faces, it meant that the Demon Lord had not accepted their allegiance and that the Demon Lord might be dead. In that case, the two of them would have to run away immediately.

"Oh my, these are really interesting gestures. Can you tell me what they all mean?"

A figure appeared beside Luger, raised his hand and gestured with his fingers, mimicking Luger's earlier action.

Mahama was the first to be stunned.

Ruger also stopped his cautious steps.

The sparse footsteps sounded somewhat hurried, as the person groped their way over following the sound of the voice, then stopped a short distance away, not daring to approach rashly.

Luger looked up and saw that the one leading the group was the two-headed demon, and he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

"Great Lord".

A hurried figure led the old demon over.

Upon arrival, the figure immediately knelt on one knee, demonstrating its submission to the lord.

Seeing this, Luger forgot all about watching the spectacle and hurriedly followed suit, offering his loyalty.

Mahama, this big guy, was even a fraction faster than him.

Those dim-witted guys not far away, though unaware of what had happened, prioritized survival above all else, and immediately collapsed in a mass, all feigning submission.

The demon lord let out a crisp laugh.

Ruger dared not make any small moves, but his heart was churning. The imminent battle he had imagined did not occur. Instead, the mysterious figure approached. It was a demon who was quite handsome by human standards. His strange skin was bright red and eye-catching. His slightly taller figure was strong and had a unique elegance, which did not give people a clumsy or rough impression. There were two straight black horns about the length of a finger on his head, and there was a pair of wings that were folded at his shoulders. The wings were black and red and looked quite pleasing to the eye.

"My Lord, you should have seen my subordinate. It is not very powerful, but it has a special ability. It is very intelligent and can identify certain demons. These are the demons it infiltrated Lord Ogum to select and bring back," the red-skinned demon said solemnly. "They are all offered to my Lord, and they are all demons of considerable wisdom."

Does this demon lord like to collect intelligent demons?

As Ruger was thinking, he suddenly noticed a gaze fixed on him.

"Hmm, they are indeed some intelligent fellows. You've done a very good job," the demon lord's melodious voice rang out.

Ruger kept his head down. From the beginning until now, he hadn't even had a chance to see what the demon lord looked like.

However, it is highly likely to be a powerful succubus.

With his head down, Luger suddenly noticed that the old demon diagonally opposite him was trembling, and that slight trembling never stopped.

A pleasant sound doesn't mean everything is so wonderful; the Demon Lord remains a synonym for fear and brutality.

“However, some are not good enough, you know… I don’t like having idiots around… I want my territory to be full of smart guys…”

The demon lord waved his hand as he spoke.

The fools on the two-headed demon's side, who were trying so hard to show their loyalty and submission, suddenly made a strange sound and then fell silent.

Ruger raised an eyebrow. The two-headed demon was still alive, but it had turned into another old demon, trembling incessantly. Most of the demons that accompanied this guy had collapsed to the ground, lifeless, leaving only a few still in a respectful and submissive posture.

Seeing these trembling fellows, Ruger also imitated the old demon, bowing his head and trembling as well.

Thinking of the old demon, one naturally thinks of the red-skinned demon beside him.

A big question mark appeared in Ruger's mind.

Is this guy a demon? He looks like a demon loyal to the succubus lord, and he can even say a few words to the lord.

But is this really the case?
Ruge had a bold idea, and the perfect example was right in front of him: himself and Mahama.

Perhaps this guy is the same, like him and Mahama, disguised as a demon, only lurking among different lords and blending in.

When Ruger realized this was a possibility, his first thought was that he and Mahama's identities as wizards should not be exposed.

Fortunately, he was just a stinky devil.

“Only the clever ones can be considered true demons. I hope you are clever too.” The succubus lord chuckled as she spoke, her laughter as melodious as ever, even causing the two-headed demon to tremble less.

Amidst the pleasant laughter, the demon lord waved his hand once more.

Luger immediately sensed that something indescribable had changed about him; it was the aura of the former lord.

"Welcome to our territory, a paradise for truly intelligent demons, not for howling beasts..."

With a crisp laugh, the succubus lord turned and walked back the way she came.

Rumble!
The battle on the ground seemed to intensify after a brief respite, and the succubus lord's laughter grew louder, echoing through the empty cave.
