Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 478 Eternity and Immutability
Chapter 478 Eternity and Immutability
A gentle breeze blew across the hillside.
Ruger watched as Mahama took out the stone used to anchor a certain layer of the abyss, and then took out a large number of magic stones to begin setting them up.
In fact, a few days ago, when he saw Mahama take out two special return stones for the Abyss that he had spent merit stones to obtain, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart that this big guy was definitely a twisted guy. He had clearly prepared everything he needed a long time ago, and it was obvious that he hadn't just started preparing recently. The answer in his heart had probably been there for many years and was almost infested with worms in a corner.
"This can only be used once. With it, you won't need to return to the Demon Hunter Wizard's lair. All you need is a teleportation array approved by the Supreme Council. Remember to keep the Demon Hunter Wizard's mark visible at all times..."
Mahama narrated as he fiddled with the things in his hands.
Ruger could sense that the big guy was a little nervous, or perhaps excited.
The so-called stone anchored to a certain abyss, and the magic stones that were constantly being taken out, were all placed in specific locations on the teleportation array by Mahama according to the rules. Luger watched with wide eyes from the side. If he hadn't seen Mahama's actions, Luger would have thought that those uneven places were just simple decorative reliefs on the outside of the teleportation array.
"Hopefully this one will work well, otherwise we'll have to find another island. Some of the older ones won't be able to handle this kind of use. Of course, the two of us shouldn't put too much pressure on the magic array. The more powerful the creature, the harder it is for it to cross boundaries, and it even consumes more magic stones."
As Mahama spoke, he put down the last magic stone.
The dust fell in a rustling sound, and the teleportation array was vibrating in a way that was barely visible to the naked eye.
“I think it should be okay,” Mahama said after staring at it for a couple of seconds.
"you sure?"
Luger stood beside him, raising a finger to display the mark of a witch hunter, and glanced at him sideways.
Mahama also revealed his mark and maintained it, taking the lead in striding towards the teleportation array.
Ruger followed, his mind flashing back to Lord Karyu's description of the Abyss.
The Abyss, a place where demons roam, is known as the Endless Abyss.
Following this sentence, there is another sentence from Karyu, who was a half-human at the time.
But what in this world is truly endless?
Ruger remembered it was said that, in a daze, the two of them stood in the teleportation array. Lord Zorn had already reported that they had accepted the exploration commission. The marks that lit up on their fingertips and the demon hunter badges they wore could successfully activate the array, and the anchor stones that had been placed were also activated.
The Abyss, the 751st floor.
Also known as the subsidence zone or subsidence abyss.
Most abyssal layers are quite similar. Some undergo unique changes depending on the lord and environment, while others are special from birth. Of course, they may have been influenced by a lord in the distant past. The 751st layer is the place of advancement chosen by Mahama's teacher, an abyssal layer that is said to have been slightly special since its inception.
Just when Luger felt like he was about to be torn apart, he finally felt his feet firmly planted on the ground.
Immediately afterwards, he felt his body sink, as if he were carrying a large bundle on his back.
But these things mean nothing to him.
Mahama, who was also mentally prepared, stood there steadily and adapted.
Taking this opportunity, Ruger carefully sensed that this was not simply about making people heavier.
"How ironic that the abyss where demons live is brighter than the human world..."
Mahama looked up at the sky that belonged to this layer of abyss.
The sky, tinged with a blood-red hue, felt strangely low and oppressive after just a couple of breaths, a sense of suffocation rising within you. Yet, it was undeniably bright. Though not bright sunshine, and without any shifting light or shadow, the eternal twilight was still a welcome contrast to darkness. In the endless sea, even a mountain as depleted as Tianzhu Mountain would be given a name, signifying that as the sea entered the twilight phase, the light stone would eventually extinguish. But this place was different; it remained unchanged through the ages.
"Is this your first time in the Abyss?" Ruger asked curiously.
Mahama nodded and looked away.
“Staring at this kind of sky for too long seems to make one feel restless,” Mahama said with his eyes closed. The two had smoothly switched to speaking in the deep, abyssal language.
The two put away their robes and other items that might reveal their identities and shouldn't be on a demon.
Then their shapes began to change.
Rug's beautiful curves truly caught Mahama's eye.
Soon, two rather peculiar demons appeared on the desolate hillside.
A gentle breeze carried a scorching heat.
Ruger moved his shoulders, not only maintaining the first-circle spell of Stingy Fallen Magic, but also the zero-circle spell of Foul Skin without any pressure, although it was only the first form of Foul Skin.
In his current form as the Demon of Miserliness, he noticed that several of his teeth had become sharper and longer.
Just as Mahama was about to say something, he suddenly covered his nose. He was now completely different in order to disguise himself, but you could still see the pain on his face.
Ruger smiled and walked in the direction from which the scorching heat was coming.
Soon a bubbling lava pool appeared before them, whether naturally formed or a trace of some kind of magical battle was unknown.
As they grow, some demons also acquire magical abilities derived from their bloodline.
Some very intelligent demons even study and try to master human magic, and there are even demons who make long-term deals with wizards.
These were all said by Mahama's teacher.
Ruger crouched down at the edge of the lava pool, tentatively putting his hand into it. He paused for a moment; it stung a little, but it was tolerable.
Despite the stench, Mahama approached Rug at a suitable distance.
"Your disguise is truly impeccable."
Mahama sighed, and as soon as she finished speaking, she felt an urge to vomit again.
"You'll get used to it, Mutant Barbarian Lord. With your physical strength, you can definitely withstand my stench. Perhaps getting a little more stench on yourself here is a good thing."
Ruger grinned menacingly and spoke slowly and softly.
The gentle tone of his voice only made his face look more ferocious.
Luger looked up at the distant sky.
Is the abyss truly unchanging? Not necessarily; Ruger believes it is also changing.
He remembered the succubus scholars he had encountered, a group who claimed that long ago, their ancestors were a group of strange demons who had completely broken free from the influence of the Abyss. They escaped control and remained in one place, even evolving into a new civilization. But could those demon ancestors truly break free from the will of the Abyss on their own?
Even the abyss is trying to make some changes.
There are also great differences between demons. For example, some demons are born only to crave killing. Even if they improve their rank or become a lord of a certain level, they still simply crave killing and destruction. They have intelligence, but they are subservient to their instincts, as if they feed on such things.
Ruger lunged forward and ripped out the heart of a canine demon that had charged down the slope, seeing them as food.
Just like this guy, these kinds of demons are closer to beasts when their rank is below a certain level. In fact, when Ruger approached, the aura he emitted had already paralyzed this simple-minded guy.
“Mutant Barbarian Lord,” Ruger smiled and glanced at the approaching giant, “please forget your ascension ritual here. We are demons, two real demons.”
Mahama paused for a moment, then grinned.
As Ruger spoke, he raised his hand and stuffed the still-bleeding demon heart directly into his mouth, swallowing it in a few bites. The dragonborn kobold's stomach made him fearless, only feeling a slight spiciness upon tasting it.
Wizards are creatures more terrifying than demons, and some are not even living beings.
