Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 448 Talent and Opportunity

Chapter 448 Talent and Opportunity

The wizard Zorn suddenly walked toward Valin, who had been silent all along, but his target was not the tall wizard apprentice, but the two peculiar combs.

After some discussion, Zorn finally secured the comb to the carriage.

Once everyone was seated in the carriage, Zorn unfurled another scroll.

“Although I have some knowledge of spatial powers, the two combs Gillian left behind are not enough to get to the fairy world,” Zorn said, unfurling the scroll in his hand as the carriage took off. “I hope this harvest will be worth the scroll…”

Zorn spoke with great interest, his eyes sparkling, as if he was full of anticipation for the journey.

Looking at him, Ruger strongly suspected that the new demonic creature that this wizard had been trying to cultivate might have entered a new phase, which had started after being stimulated by his teacher, and perhaps he wanted to try something new.

The carriage suddenly jolted violently.

The people in the carriage all looked at Zorn, and seeing that the wizard was still smiling and drinking, they calmed down.

The carriage moved quickly and smoothly, as if passing through a long tunnel.

"It may take some time. After all, I'm not a gem summoner, and this is all I can do." Zorn spread his arms, leaned back in the comfortable and spacious seat of the carriage, and said casually, holding a wine bottle in one hand.

As if belatedly realizing this, Varin has now begun to secretly glance at Luger from time to time, just like Mahama did before.

Ruger felt the curious gazes prying at him and suddenly realized that these two guys hadn't even greeted him or called him "Master Wizard" yet.

"I wonder what Lord Zorn's opinion is on spellcasting gestures and incantations?" Ruger asked.

Zorn moved the bottle away from his mouth, glanced at the fireball spellbook in his hand, gave him a knowing look, and then moved the bottle back.

"One of the greatest inventions in the wizarding world."

"Zorn said in a deep voice, and then took another sip of wine."

"Moreover, it is the most legendary invention. Its importance, astonishing popularity, and ultimate complete and disruptive elimination all give it a legendary status in wizarding history and make it an extremely rare case in the wizarding world." Zorn seemed to have been piqued by this topic and was eager to chat.

The young men in the carriage were listening attentively.

Zorn even recounted how he was ridiculed when he was learning spells in his youth, but he stubbornly persisted in practicing, using spells and casting gestures to improve the power and speed of his Fireball spell. He stubbornly used only this spell to duel with the guy who mocked him. In their bizarre duel, the guy also only used Fireball. Although Zorn lost after a fierce battle, the guy never mocked Zorn again, because Fireball was the only spell that was fixed in that guy's zero-ring spell slot.

Of course, Ruger could tell that Zorn's research into these things had stopped after that failure, or rather, stopped at that age. As he grew older, he focused his energy on pursuing more practical things.

From the way the wizard Zorn looked at the spellbook in his hand, it was clear that the copyist's expectations had been met. This version of the fireball spell became widely known. Or, to put it another way, the most basic and orthodox version of this ancient spell was already difficult to change. Any areas that could be optimized had already been optimized by countless geniuses throughout history.

The versions that are included are the most stable, easy to learn, and time-tested.

The group chatted idly.

"Ruger... Lord, did you see that boundary when you advanced? It's rumored that some people can clearly see their own boundaries and break through them..." Valin looked at Ruger with anticipation.

Mahama also pricked up his ears.

Here comes, finally here!
Ruger paused for a moment, then prepared to answer.

He knew this moment would come, that someone would ask Wizard Ruger a question. He originally thought it would be Mahama, but this big guy with a teacher had such solid fundamentals, or perhaps he just held back out of modesty. In any case, everything is fine now, and he's even being called Lord Ruger.

“I know what you want to ask. Approaching one’s own limits does have some effect. In my opinion, it allows for a better and clearer sense of the line that can be crossed, reducing confusion during the breakthrough and increasing the efficiency of advancement,” Ruger said after thinking for a moment. “Of course, only a little. Those with high enough talent don’t need to get too close to their limits to touch the boundary that limits life advancement…”

After speaking, Ruger smiled and looked at the two of them.

Both of them noticed his gaze. Although he didn't say it explicitly, the meaning conveyed in his eyes was quite clear: in his eyes, they were both people with talent.

Of course, having experienced his own breakthroughs, he dared not openly encourage others. There are many variables in the process of advancement, and everyone is different. Both failure and success are valuable experiences.

The demons pulling the cart seemed to have been deliberately chosen by Zorn, and they moved forward with the help of two combs amidst a strange fluctuation of power.

The carriage lurched again, as if emerging from a crack. The world had changed.

Ruger pressed his face against the round window of the carriage, looked down, opened his mouth in surprise, then smacked his lips and closed it again.

The Fairy Kingdom.

The scene before him was very different from what he had imagined, or rather, this fairy kingdom was unlike anything he had ever seen.

"interesting."

Zorn said softly from the side.

Their gleaming silver carriage sped through the air.

Luger looked down and then into the distance, where he saw islands that looked somewhat familiar. He also sensed a faint aura of faith power here.

Looking down at the island, Ruger then glanced at the people in the carriage.

The crowd had various expressions, but gradually they all showed signs of realization.

"Last time I came here, I didn't get to see the sea from high above."

Valin explained that she had clearly noticed something was amiss as well.

These islands have some features unique to the fairy kingdom, but in general, they seem to be a reproduction of the Chaotic Star Sea, or rather, a mirror image, a reversed version of the Chaotic Star Sea.

"Is this how it is in all fairy kingdoms?" Mahama asked in confusion, squeezing in by the round window as well.

Valin shook her head.

“Of course not,” Zorn smiled slightly and took another sip of wine. “That’s what makes it interesting. Maybe Gillian can find the opportunity to advance to the third ring of wizarding.”

There is no danger; danger is an opportunity. Conversely, this means that the wizard Gillian is in danger.

I wonder if this wizard who plays with combs included their rescue in his plan to turn the tide.

If so, then it's a tacit understanding between her and Zorn. Moreover, Ruger guessed that Zorn would definitely charge without hesitation and also share some with them, his entourage. Of course, if there really was a tacit understanding, the reward that the wizard Gillian prepared for Zorn was likely also in this fairy kingdom, in order to reduce her own expenses.

Suddenly, the carriage shook, and the two combs detached from the carriage. They swayed for a moment in front of the round window, then shot into the sky with a whoosh and disappeared.

"what!"

Valin gasped and turned to look at Zorn.

“They say that Wizard Gillian is in danger,” Valin said, her face filled with alarm.

Zorn, however, waved his hand calmly, allowing Valin to gradually calm down.

“Don’t worry, the more combs she has, the stronger she becomes, and... she might just not want us to find her so quickly…” Zorn smiled and raised the bottle to his lips.

Valin calmed down and looked outside, muttering to herself.

"The appearance of the fairy kingdom is closely related to the kingdom's master and the fairies who live there."

She fell into deep thought as she spoke, then her eyes suddenly lit up.

“I’m reminded of a fairy that Lady Gillian mentioned, the Mirror Fairy,” she said, her eyes sparkling.

Ruge looked at Mahama, and both of them looked completely bewildered.

Zorn, upon hearing Valin's words, simply smiled, holding the black wine bottle, and calmly leaned back in his seat.
