Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 414 Change and Unchanging
Chapter 414 Change and Unchanging
Ruger touched the beautiful curved horn on his head again. With this appearance and those curved horns, he probably wouldn't need to exude any aura of spiritual boiling to scare away ordinary people and some ignorant low-level apprentices.
He clenched his fist, and the combined power of his demonic body and bull-like strength seemed to have made him much stronger than before.
The changes brought about by the Demon Skin spell were even more interesting. He gently ran his transformed, sharp nails across his arm. The changes to his skin seemed minor at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they had largely deviated from the original casting material. It had shed the appearance of the demon skin that belonged to the savage demon, and the reaction between it and the demon body had caused it to undergo unknown changes.
Furthermore, the spiral patterns swirling on the body, those strange and beautiful designs, become extremely clear when spells are cast on the foul-smelling skin, as if they have been painted with heavy ink, and are also undergoing unknown changes.
Lesser Sharpness seems unchanged, but it has become easier to cast on various parts of the demon body than before.
Ruger scratched his head.
If the concept behind this transformation is the mutual transformation between the two, and the mutual adaptation between him and the magic of the demonic body, then the connection with the foul-smelling skin can be understood. Because the solidified magic is already a part of him, just like those mythical beasts and dragons that instinctively master spell-like abilities when they reach a certain age, the magic that wizards choose to solidify is an extraordinary aspect, an instinctive talent that they gradually develop through extraordinary means.
This allows weak humans to gradually become different, even more free than those mythical beasts and dragons, able to freely choose and change their innate abilities.
Ruger rubbed his arm, feeling the differences in various parts.
The real change, however, wasn't in the minutiae. He followed his teacher's notes and the conversation he had at the dinner table when Lord Kurt was promoted, broadening his perspective. Just like the feeling of seamless integration that came with the Demon Body after adapting to other spells, that was what he should pursue, and it was his greatest gain this time.
Ruger nodded in satisfaction.
The moment of advancement is the moment of his transformation, and also the moment when magic faces the challenge of merging and forming a beautiful and unique composite spell, like a work of art.
He canceled all the spells on his body, meditated to recover, then put on his old robe and swayed as he walked outside.
The sky was clear, and there was another energetic kobold.
He strolled into the hall, where Mahama was sitting and eating, it was unclear whether it was breakfast or lunch.
Luger smiled slightly.
"Your tastes always suit me very well, and the things you choose are very much to my liking."
After saying that, Ruger pulled out a chair and sat down at the dining table.
Mahama paused for a moment, then took out a few more food items, which looked like dishes he had stored in his storage bag for dinner.
Ruger accepted the kindness with a smile, truly embracing it with a smile.
The big guy stuffed the meat pie in his hand into his mouth, but didn't take another piece. Instead, he looked at Ruger.
"Has there been good progress?" Mahama suddenly said.
It's a question, but it doesn't have much of a questioning tone.
"why would you say so?"
Luger smiled and brought a bowl of soup to himself.
“Your smugness and joy are written all over your face, even though it’s covered in hair,” Mahama said seriously. Rug smiled; after a long nap, he was already a little hungry again.
“I feel great right now. I just need some merit stones and a few materials to perform the ascension ceremony at any time,” Ruge said as he put a bowl of soup in his mouth. “I must admit, you have a good eye, Your Excellency Mahama.”
"If I can push my mental strength a little closer to its limit while I'm accumulating merit stones, then everything will be just right," Ruger added.
“It wasn’t me, it was Wizard Zorn,” Mahama continued eating, picking up a thick rib that could be used as a stick. “Yesterday, Wizard Zorn and I went to a neighboring island to handle a demon-hunting incident. I was going to go to your room to call you, but Lord Zorn stopped me. He said your room… was constantly emitting strange magical fluctuations, probably doing something unusual, and told me not to disturb you. Lady Gillian upstairs needed someone to take care of her, so it was just the two of us.”
Ruger took a big bite of the rib; he had a bone-in rib that was even bigger than the one in Mahama's hand.
The merit stones come from these demon-hunting events that can be recorded.
Ruger thought to himself, it seems that the chaos in this sea area has spread like waves, one after another, inevitably. Where there is trouble and chaos, there will inevitably be the figure of demons, especially in this land of faith, where demons seem to be sticking out their tongues and peeking out at any time.
"My business should be settled by now. Remember to call me next time."
Ruge raised his hand to pour wine for Mahama, even though it was also Mahama's wine, and then he poured himself a nice glass as well.
This tangy fruit wine is perfect for cutting through greasiness or refreshing you in the morning. One sip and you'll be instantly energized, the sourness reaching right to your head.
According to Mahama, demon-hunting incidents are generally divided into two types: one is extremely dangerous, where even formal wizards may lose their lives; the other is extremely leisurely, such as the one they dealt with yesterday. All they need to do is display the mark of a demon-hunting wizard, intimidate them with their fists, and then reveal Lord Zorn's formal wizard identity. If they don't want to lure demons to earn some extra money, then it can be resolved quickly.
Ruger listened with great interest and decided to try not to wander off in the future and to stay in his room to meditate.
He recalled his recent achievement: the Demon Body spell. When he first mastered this spell and it began to react with spells like Bull Power, he noticed that the curved horn on the top of the head was gradually growing larger. Unfortunately, after that period, the change gradually slowed down and almost stopped. Now he realized that this unique and adaptable spell with high compatibility was adapting to him as its master. It was just a pity that its original unconscious adaptability was limited, and it needed his modification as a wizard to help it.
Looking back now, if he were also the kind of person who stayed at the fifth-level wizard apprentice stage for decades or even centuries, he would inevitably have noticed this stagnation in change during his later, boring days and started a series of investigations.
It was his teacher's guidance that shortened this process, reducing the discovery process, and the notes also shortened his exploration process.
Moreover, if he were to explore on his own after years of struggle, it would only be one of countless attempts, not one with a relatively clear goal like this time.
Ruge stroked his chin and glanced at Mahama.
There is a huge difference between having a teacher and not having a teacher. People like Mahamat, who directly embark on the path of becoming a teacher, will benefit even more.
This also highlights the difficulties that a wizard apprentice like Lord Kurt has faced on his journey, and that Lord Kurt is one of the most talented and lucky among them.
Thinking of Lord Kurt, Ruger looked out the window again.
"The lighting time has become shorter again, and there's some panic on the islands near Tianzhu Mountain. This change is already noticeable to ordinary people," Mahama said, holding his wine glass.
Ruger raised an eyebrow and stuffed a large piece of meat into his mouth.
